I'd like to be part of the clan. Big time lover of FF. What initiation must I pass in order to be worthy?

Well if you truly love Final Fantasy, RPGs or even videogames in general follow these steps.
-go to USER CP
-scroll down, click group memberships
-click to join Final Fantasy player group(it somewhere on that page)
-pm me when you are done, so I can allow you to enter the group(I am kinda Head of this clan, Shockman really is the head, but I handle group entry and such)

After that is done you must wrestle with these half-starved, crazed moogles.

I think of Squall as Leon for some reason, but wasn't he the skirt chasing cowboy dude with a shotgun in 8? I haven't played that game in a while, I abandoned it after my data was erased.

Did research and the skirt chaser was Irvine.

Yeah isn't it from his last name, like Leonhart or something? I lost all my data at the end of disc 3 or very beginning of disc 4, so I felt beaten by my own stupidity. Therefore I have not picked it up since.

I thought it was more that to be as bad ### as he was in KH, he needed to ditch the cry baby persona from 8 and change that wussy name.

Nope, haven't gotten a chance to play it. Money is way tight on my side. But I have seen demos on TV and it looks amazing.

These are the kind of games I miss, the truely different ones. Not just DoA26, but something that really tries to be differant than every thing else thats out there.

I saw a tabletop Pokemon game that resembled Clix in one of the hobby stores. The figures were larger, and the starter had Pikachu, Ash, Charizard, Meowth and Treecko, I think.

Yeah, I was partially interested.

I didnt see them in the flesh yet but apparently my local shop will be getting them.

The gameplay is based on sliding disks or something AKA it sucks.

I still don't know about the whole pokeclix thing....

I'm debating on whether or not I want to go to the Supernova prerelease this saturday. I don't care for the venue where it's being held at. The judge has the WEIRDEST rules ive ever heard, (i.e. wont let you play with your dice or objects, and you have to stand up for all the games), plus its really packed in there, there's no room at all, and I dont know how many boosters I'll be able to get. Plus with the money, I can just put it towards another brick.....but it is Supernova!!!

Who should I use for Red Mage?

I'm currently using Raven for PC (twinking out) and Support, but she doesn't pack the punch of the "HOWDOYOUSTOPTHIS?!".

r Doctor Light = Black Mage. Can't hurt Fighter with his stabby stab (base 2 damage) but can with the Hadoken (RCE). Also good for Trick Shots using Fighter as a meatshield.

v Diamond Lil = Fighter. Invulnerable, and Bladesy.

e Batman (Icons Starter) = Thief. Elfy agility (L/C) and Outwit for his cons.

I started playing FF12 last night.....really cool opening CGI. I didn't get to play a whole lot but the new battle system is pretty cool. Might take a little getting used to. The graphics are amazing & so far I like the characters....interesting story so far as well. So far so good. Anyone else here pick it up already. Unfortunately I won't be able to play it at all this weekend as I am going away to visit family.

I really like your Venom costume, its well done. Even though you aren't bulky as the "real" Venom, you still managed to do Venom justice. But you don't look as good as the Supergirl who was at my school.

Thanks guys for the compliments on the costume. I figured if I showed it to the nerds they'd understand, because SO many people in the world have no clue who Venom is....

I guess I should wear it next year after Spidey3 releases...

Oh, and I guess Bruce Cambell will be a cameo as Quentin Beck in Spidey 3, leading up to a villian role in Spidey 4...

I'll stick with my 360 for now. I mean its got DOA, Gears of War, Ninja Gaiden(soon I hope), Rare(another Banjo Kazooie!!!!), and a bunch of RPGS are supposed to be coming out for it. So I will be happy with my 360 til PS3 has a price drop.

Sorry bud, but Blu Ray wont be replacing DVD until HD becomes standard....And that wont be for a long time yet, and when that does happen there will no doubt be a better suited format.

Movie and viewing media needs to last a long time - Longer than game consoles, longer than a lot of things. VHSs were around for what? 20 Years ish?

DVDs came around in like 1998 ish, so we're only halfway maybe a little more through its span. Too many people are getting and have a huge DVD library blah blah blah.

I could go on, but Im sure you will agree now.

Nah, I'm gonna have to say it'll be quicker than that. With the way technology advances, we've had vhs for 20 years, in half that time dvd's took over, and in half THAT time, we're going to have Blu-Ray. I mean, with the way they keep making things, I'd give Blue-Ray a year after ps3 comes out, and we'll see it start jumping like crazy....besides, HD is slowly replacing...I work at a Satellite company, and many local citys can get local stations in HD. It's really picking up....

Finally getting to play some FF12.....the main thing I probily don't like about it is that to equip items (armor, swords, ect.) you have to learn that item on your grid. So if you find a cool item & you don't have enough points to buy the licence you are outta luck until you get more points (which means killing more monsters). As I said before the battle system is pretty cool (defiinitely different) but you can get overwhelmed if there are 3 or more enemies on the screen. It is almost impossible as well to tell if an enemy is gonna be too tough for you to face. Unless you take a swing & then get killed in one or two swipes. You also always have to be wary of your enviroment. Don't go running in to kill a wolf, then all of the sudden you notice there are 5 other wolfs in the same area & they will target you if you get close. So a few things you gotta watch out for & one or two minor complaints. I will say the strategy guide (which I traditionally get for every FF game) really helps a lot in the game, a lot more so then in the past. I would recommend picking it up & using it for trouble spots.

Hahah! I know! I love how they randomly insert EXTREME bosses where you're supposed to be doing your initial level up thing. Just keep on walking and entering in new areas, you'll see these giant bird things, then things that have like two large legs and no hands...Whats nice is that everything that's a higher level than you is MUCH bigger than the rest of the things....I just hate when they chase after you, and you run into brush, then your camera angle goes all wonky and next thing you know, you're dead...

Yeah, I'm loving FF XII. I'm just now getting in to where the story starts getting deep, and it's starting to get a bit more interesting. Its fun, because this is the first FF that I can easily get lost in levelling up. I mean, I was lvlin last night for like 3.5 hours straight and wondered where the time went. Even in FFVII I had to take breaks from lvling. I guess its because I can see the enemies, and know what I'll be fighting and exactly where to find them....

Hey guys, sorry I've been totally bogged down with (for a lack of a better term) "Campus Life".. >:0 :angry:

However, I've managed to escape in between some of my exams to check out what's up with you guys. Glad to see you're all still at it, enjoying FFXII and the like ^^;;

But of course my posts would be utterly useless if I didn't have some kind of information to follow up on... right?

FFXIII: Percentage Complete = 5% (Yeah.... gonna be awhile guys..)
FFvsXIII: Percentage Complete = 3% ( :cry: )
FFXII Play Arts Figures (Due out early '07 [most likely late Feb], the final paints are already available for viewing online).
FFVII Polystone Statues (Cloud/Sephy): Supposed to be shipping this week!
FF Mechanical Arts (these are like airships/vehicles and the like): Continental Circus (FFX Ship)/Kadaj Bike are due out at the end of March '07.
FFVII:AC Deluxe Edition DVD: This is supposed to be the AC movie we've already had for the past year, with some extra stock footage, trailers etc. (Q1 '07)

Well I'm sure you're all busy playing FFXII/FFIII or unpacking your Wii's so enjoy yourselves and take it easy guys!

Hmm...looks like FFXIII is going to be a while.....

as for the WII...I'm waiting to get mine until after the New Year...hopefully the price will drop then, and I wont have to be saving up for presents. Have you heard any more on the deluxe edition of AC? Anyone? Just thought I'd ask...

Anyways, my exams just finished, so I'm free for 3 weeks OMG!!!!!

But you're all in for some more info beat down....!!!

First off, to Ven, sorry I've yet to hear anything on the FFVII: AC deluxe DVD as of yet; it's still unreleased in Japan, so it may be awhile until we get our grubby hands on that one..

FF Master Creatures Series 1 - Ifrit FFVII, Bahamut FFVIII, Kefka Palazzo (Not sure why it's spelled with C's... my memory mus be taking it to me...) FFVI, Leviathan FFIX and the Magus Sisters from FFX - Should be out VERY shortly, they're roughly 6" tall (each).
FFVII Resin Highwind Replica Statue - This badboy' supposed to be about a foot long, retailing about $120 US.

Just two more things for now, for those of you who haven't seen the FFversusXIII teaser, it's up now on Youtube, just released to the public roughly last week. You can also see a nifty split screen video comparison of the PS3's 'not so nifty' backwards compatibility next to the original PS2. (Why I mention this is because FFX is the game being demo'd).

And for all you guys out there living in the States, there's a 'secret' offer right now, sign up to Toys 'r' Us' website mailing offer and you'll be mailed a a coupon I believe it is, for FFIII on DS for only $20!!!!!!!! Though you better make it quick, I really have no idea how long this'll last, as it just started on wednesday (the emails).

I think I'm getting close to the end of FFXII. It's kinda hard to tell, because I like to level up more than I really need to...but the story seems to be working its way to the end....then I'm on to Twilight Princess. I got to see my friend play the last lvl. That was pretty spiffy.

Just finished Twilight Princess. Wow, what a game. Now to decide what to play next. Didn't get any games during the dreaded holiday (lots of good reading and DVDs, though), so I'll have to pick it out myself. Castlevania: POR was my first choice, but the Lady purchased Big Brain Academy last night and I see no reason for us to fight over the DS. FF XII comes to mind right away, but seeing as how I just put in 55 hours into Twilight Princess I would like to wait a little while before I dive into another long game. My brother is wanting me to play Shadow of the Colossus, but I think I'm going to make Okami my next game... after I get some much needed stuff dome around the house.

Shadow of the Colossus is good, beautiful, but short. Once you find out how to beat them, you can really beat the game in a day. Okami is a bit longer, but fun. I enjoyed it a lot. Tons. As for FF XII, I've currently got 80+ hours into it....but I am like lvl 60, and have everything known to man....so it's a bit of a long game.

Hey guys long time no see (as usual) but I'm back for more!

In products, I've got sources that now say the Kingdom Hearts II Figures (Valor and Final Forms) of Sora are limited to 3000 a piece!!! So get your hands on em quick! The FFXII Figures are still scheduled to release at the end of February; in Japan the limited edition FFVII:AC DVD is scheduled to release in February as well. Speaking of AC, Kadaj's Bike and Fenrir should be for sale very soon.

In news, FFXIII is being pushed to the limits! In order to "help" I like to say "run" PS3, Squeenix is really getting backed into a wall to produce a demo of FFXIII by the end of this year!

Well.. I'll keep you guys updated as I hear it, Crisis Core should be hitting soon despite the delays as well.. take it easy guys!

News updates (short today):

All I have is that the mechanical arts (Kadaj's bike) and the Continental Circus, will be released near the end of March. The replica 'master arms' pieces won't be out for a looooooong time, roughly summer (start saving up!). KHII Final Mix is set to release shortly in Japan, if you've got your copy pre ordered, get ready for some awesome remake action!

Thanks again Goken for the update! Yeah, I hope you can control them more...kinda like FFXII. I really enjoyed being able to switch characters hassle free. It made the game much more interesting, because i could be on opposite sides of the screen in seconds...

So have you heard anymore about Final Mix? Is it supposed to be just like the DS version, or are there going to be differences? I havent heard too much about the original version, just that it ties up loose ends a bit more...

Final Mix is going to be KHII + KH:Chain of Memories (GBA), but the CoM will be totally remade using the KH1 engine. So that means a fully re-rendered game, though it doesn't look as nice as KHII, the quality is unquestionably better than GBA. Apparently however, the gameplay itself hasn't changed much from KH:CoM (from what I've heard), and the story will be nearly exactly the same (with new items and what not you know the deal).

And I have some more interesting tidbits.. I thought I had mentioned it before, but I guess I missed it, here's some 'knowns' (includes new info) about FFXIII:

1. Heroine is named 'Lightning' (old news), but this is an alias, and will be explained in the duration of the game.
2. While the worlds in FFXIII, FFvsXIII and FFXIII:Agito are not directly related, they all take place within the same universe (old news).
3. Battles will be real time, (old news), slowdown effect was confirmed earlier.
4. The world in which the plot of FFXIII takes place will be a 'cocoon' world, that is to say, it will be a world that exists above another realm, and the story will unfold upon which it is invaded upon by the 'outsiders' (presumably the inhabitants of the world below).
5. Summons will still be in the game, but will incorporate new 'mechanics' unlike previous FF games, the example given was that Shiva may be able to transform into a motorbike and Lightning would be able to ride her into battle (so now we finally get our 'girl on girl' action eh? lolll)
6. Though a demo is to come out within the year (old news), it's been said the game is only 2-3% complete (which is contradictory to the knowledge we had obtained previously).
7. Although the E3/TGS Trailers of FFXIII and FFvsXIII have been released to the public, word is that there is a second FFXIII trailer yet to be publicly released but has been shown at executive meetings (this is the trailer featuring the new 'blonde' male character who is rumored to be one of Lightning's companions and is supposed to be VERY tall (7 ft?).

I have read an article ot two on it. The people reviewing it said it was more about the love, story and work put into the game that fans would enjoy. It isn't overly difficult but is definately enjoyable. I myself would like to give the game a go.

As our good friend Sabin's already mentioned, there are some former Square employees who worked on Blue Dragon, here's the info for anyone (ven ;)) who might be interested:

Game Design - Hironobu Sakaguchi (Father of Final Fantasy)
Character Design - Akira Toriyama (Creator of Dragonball, Dr. Slump, artist of DQ [no not Dairy Queen... unfortunately])
Music Composer - Nobuo Uematsu (Yup, the FF Music Master!)

The developer is "Mistwalker" it s a company founded by Sakaguchi shortly after he resigned from Square (around the period of the Square-Enix merger). Blue Dragon's scheduled for launch here June 5/07.

Also if this brings interest to you, 360's also getting a couple more RPGs, Tri-Ace (The Valkyrie Profile Team) is also working on one at this time; in addition, Mistwalker is currently developing "Lost Odyssey" for 360 as well. That one has Sakaguchi at the head, Uematsu again for musical composition, but this time the artist is the creator of the Manga "Slam Dunk!" (Takehiko Inoue). Neither of these games have an official release date yet..

And some release dates as per the usual:

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (Nintendo DS) - 04/26/07 (JAPAN)
Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core (Sony PSP) - Q1 2007 (JAPAN)
Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+ (Sony PS2) - 03/29/07 (JAPAN only)

So according to those dates... with exception to Final Mix, we should be seeing some domestic releases in the summer/fall. The FFXII Play Arts figures should be shipping next couple of weeks, although there hasn't been official word yet they're usually quite consistent on the dates. Hey D! Glad to hea your doing good. Hope to see a bit more of you! So...I just picked up a DS as well as FF3, WHICH IS AMAZING! I also picked up tactics advanced, because I heard it was a lot like the original tactics. I see there's no breeding, and they lost a few job classes...but other than that, is there really much of a difference?

Is there any other games you guys would suggest picking up for the new system? I thought about checking into those 2 rpgs that are advertised in the comics all the time...one by square and one by nintendo...like phantasy star or something...I dunno. Anyways. Glad to hear everyones doing good!

NSMB is good, not great, but really good. The visuals are pretty and the levels are well crafted. There's not much new here, gameplay wise, but it is really enjoyable. I liked BBA, but the luster wore off, for me, a little sooner than I would have liked. It's fun getting good at all of the different puzzles in the game, but once that happens there's not much else to do. Luckily it's sold at a lower price point. I find it's a really good game to play with my Lady.

XII got really good reviews. I am really looking forward to playing it... sometime. Right now I'm still in Okami. I would have finished that by now, but I got sidetracked by Guitar Hero (and my buddy's GH2) :laugh: . What I play next depends on how much cash I have on my at the time. March is an expensive month for me with Origin, the new Type O Negative CD, 300, JLU season 2, and Batman Beyond seaon 3. Of course one good thing about the lull in new good game this time of year is it give gamers time to catch up.

FFXIII:Agito is in the works, Nomura however has stated that it's not to be released on this generation of cell phones (whatever that means..) and plans to be a full release unlike FFVII: Before Crisis which was released in chapters (which had later episodic releases).

For the main event, FFXIII, more battle details have emerged. First, fluid battle animation is to be very important in FFXIII, apparently you'll be able to string any form of attack into a fluid combo which will reduce repetitive animation and promote a more unique experience for battles. Battles themselves will also not be seemingly fluid (i.e encounters may still exist), but they will not necessarily have a separate encounter phase. In addition to this, enemies are apparently going to have their own background information (i.e small backstory) as well as change upon different game scenarios, i.e you won't just fight random monsters if you're being chased by the military.

And one more juicy tidbit, since let's call her.. "S-san" loves Disney so much I of course was compelled to get more information, there is a speculated release of KH2:Final Mix+ for Fall '07 in the US! But keep your fingers crossed, as it does still seem unlikely... but.. don't feel bad just yet, KH3 is now rumored to have started production~ Thank S-san for getting me to dig up the juicy KH info though!~ kekekeke

Ok, to other non update related information:

loki you asked about opinions for FFXII, as the master of biased FF games will tell you, "It was ok". Of course I'm going to tell you FFX was the greatest FF in the series and the only ones that will remotely touch it are FFVI and FFVII, but.... I'm not going to say I didn't enjoy it. The Ivalice Alliance however.. has to lay off the Star Wars recyclage... FFT was good... FFXII... not so original.

That being said, it was still a great game.

As for DS games? Look forward to FFXII: Revenant Wings, though for current releases, there are still many great titles that have already been mentioned by Sabin ;)

Finally getting back into FF12....I was totally obsessed with Zelda: Twilight Princess & recently beat it. But now that's done & back to FF12 which I had shelved until I was done with Zelda. I just got past King Raithwall's tomb & got my first Esper. When I fought it I was able to pull of a 6-hit quickening combo! I gave the Esper to Fran.

Nice work mac, One piece of advice I can give you if you're having any problems, is to DEFINITELY get the charge ability, increase your max MP capacity (by getting higher level quickenings or otherwise). And then also don't forget to set your gambits :)

the guy you face right after King Raithwall's Tomb is hard! I don't wanna say who it is because of spoilers. But he is pretty easy until you get him close to death. Then he starts hitting your team with 5-6 hit combos. I was barely able to beat him because I had a Quickening ready to use with Basch. I'm gonna spend some more time now leveling up & getting some money so I can buy new weapons & spells.

I know we used to sometimes discuss Marvel Legends here so this feels like a safe place for me to vent. Is is just me or is HAsbro just killing the Marvel license? The first two waves of Hasbro Legens look awful. The Emma Frost looks like someone put her head in a vise. They took out the comics- what gives? The Spidey 3 figures are a little better, but they still aren't as good as the one's Toy Biz made. I got one of the black costume Spideys. I was going to have him confronting one of the movie figures I already own, but the new one is like an inch shorter. And the articulation is a step backwards. Ugh!
In lighter news I finally finished Okami today. I didn't think the game was ever going to end :p . 60+ hours. It really was like a Zelda game, just with a wolf god instead of a elf boy. I'm so disapointed Capcom disolved Clover (the studio that made the game). I truly enjoyed Okami and the Viewtiful Joe games. I hope those that made it into SEEDS can keep the good and unique games coming!

So...I heard KH3 has Mario as well as other Nintendo charatoons in it? Where did this come from? Anyone seen a trailer for the game yet? I heard it was out, but didnt get to check it out yet.

Oh, and I heard that FFXIII's playing graphics will be up to par with FF: The Spirits Within. Thats pretty exciting to know that within a few years, we were able to make that much of a difference...

You know, Sony themselves has published that Square Enix is considering to have FF XIII not be exclusively to PS3, but the final decision has not been made.

Well... like I had said... that's the word I'm hearing as of now, and I'm just relaying the information as I always do. The primary speculation at this point is that it will only be FFXIII, since the other titles such as Agito and Versus have been said to be exclusive for their specific platforms..

Any of you out there heard of PSO (Phantasy Star Online)? It's quite an old game... one of the 'new' school originators of "MMO's"... However.. seems that the newest version (it came out last summer on PC). I snow available for free play, any one interested?

My advice is to stock as much of the spell Meltdown as you can. It reduces your enemy's defense to zero making every hit after for major damage.

Along with Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Agito XIII for the mobile phone and Final Fantasy Versus XIII, an action game for the PlayStation 3 made by the Kingdom Hearts team, make up three facets of the overall project known as Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII. According to Square Enix, Final Fantasy XIII is neither a prequel nor a sequel to Final Fantasy Agito XIII or Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Square Enix has explained that although all three games take place in the same universe, they are not directly related.

I hope Final Fantasy 13 comes out for Xbox 360 as well as PS3......If it's just gonna be PS3 I'm not sure I'll get it, since I don't have a PS3 & I don't see myself buying one anytime soon (unless they remake FF7 for it of course :) ). I also hope to borrow a friends PSP so I can at least try Crisis Core. I don't plan on getting a PSP either. I already have a DS & that is enough for me on current portable systems.

As I'm sure you've all heard about, the PSP is getting another exclusive FF title, no... it's not the FF Tactics you were thinking.. it's Final Fantasy: Dissidia! What is it you ask? Five words: Smash Brothers, Final Fantasy Style! So far all that I've seen are characters from FFVII, FFXII, but I'm sure there's going to be alot more.

As for FFXIII, we may be waiting a bit longer than previously presumed (it's Squeenix right?). At the recent SE Party, they had recently announced that they will need a bit more time in order to develop the game fully, estimations for release are roughly Dec '08 at this time.

Ok, and for toys/figures? The 19" Sephiroth and Cloud figures (roughly 1/4 scale) are similar to SideShow Collectibles' style of "premium format" figures, whereby they have fabric clothing on a rigid statue.

And for you Play Arts fanatics (like myself), you'll be pleased to hear they're expanding the Advent Children line, don't believe me? Look for yourself!
