I was just in RPGamer looking the things that Square Enix is gonna show at this years E3 and they said something about Beyond Crisis: Final Fantasy VII. It was put under "Mobile Games" so most likely this is for the PSP. Does anyone have more info than that?

Well just for the hell of it, I'll ask a question to get some buzz going on this thread.

What is your favorite job/character type in the Final Fantasy series?

Mine is the Blue Mage. Very original concept IMO and always fun to use an enemies spell or ability against them. Other than that fat abomination in IX all of the blue mages are cool too.

Favorite job or character type? Mine is deffinately the Dragoon. I was really disapointed that that wasn't one of the dress spheres in X-2.

You think so? I really didn't find it too useful. The design of the character was nothing I wanted to look at first off and the way to get blue magic was dumb too. Eatting the enemies? Come on, Square. You can do better than that. Plus whenever I tried using a blue spell with Quina it wouldn't do much. White Wind only healed about 150-300 HP.

Just give me the Enemy Skill materia and I'll be happy.

Well give square credit, eating the enemies to get their abilities makes sense, it just doesn't work out as well as it should of.

Getting hit/seeing it i think is the best method to date. Though the FF8 chick had the easiest time learning new abilities.

My tourny this weekend went fairly well. I could have played a little better. I figured that the other players would employ one stratagy. I set up my team to decimate this. No one set up their teams like I thought they would. I didn't win, but I was feared.

How many people are watching the Anime Final Fantasy: Unlimited? I think its a great show, 100 times better than the CGI movie they made.

I just love the way they summon in that show. A sort of "shotgun summoning" if you will. :)

I didn't abandon anything. As I've said about probably a dozen times before, my computer is still in the shop. And, as I've also said many, many times before, I won't have many opportunities to go online, let alone update the clan. My computer is in the hands of God now, and with the sinning that I've done lately, I doubt I'll get it back in one piece. Or at least until next week.

But rest assured, with finals fast approching, come hell or high water, I'll find some access to a computer. If it's not the weekend, or if I'm not at work, I'll be hear annoying the rest of you or thwarting any further coups.

As for X-Death, he's always around. He's more of a lurker than a poster, much like myself. He's my eyes and ears within this clan. And, while I do think that he should get over some of his internet message board shyness, he does serve a valuable purpose to me.

I believe you shock man x that you bear no ill will toward me. In fact, I like it that you keep things intresting here in my absence, it just encourages me to come here more often.

Graphics is the last thing i look for in a game. Sure the better graphics the cooler it looks and all but its not that important for me. The gameplay is one of the most important things on what i look for in a game. The Theme of the RPG is important too (like Medieval times, or futuristic type of game) but the most important thing is the Story of the game.

I think that Theme and Story go hand in hand. Because if you dont have a good theme the story wont be that good at all or vice versa.

Well put Kain. As for myself, I put gameplay and story/theme tied as the first priority. And like all psudo-rpg elitist (not you Kain, but you gotta admit there are a lot of these idiots out there. But that's another discussion for another day), graphics come last.

As for other bells and whistles, I suppose music would be a close second. That's one of the main defining points for a game in this beloved genre of ours. Heck, I still catch myself whistling themes from FF 6.

Honorable mention goes to the villains. To me, the villain makes the story. I can give two carps who the heros are. But the villain must be a big enough bastard to motivate me to either breaking him/her/it in two, or ending up being my favorite character in the game. Hence, my pseudonym.

Gameplay is the most imporant thing in any game. I loved the story and characters in FFVIII, but I could not get into the Junction System. I stopped playing it when Anthology came out on the PS1. I went back later and finished it (I had only four more hours to put in).
Story is more important in an RPG than in any other type of game. Villians drive a story. It's like Chris Claremont said: "If the villians aren't a threat, there is no point to the hero." (Actually that's a paraphrase. I don't know the exact quote, but it something like that.)
Music is more important to me than graphics in an RPG.

The dude's a beast. Few things though. At least one of those E/S should be replaced with either SS, or Imp, to represent him being gone from the battle field much of the time. It would be tempting to make him a flyer, but no. I've only seen Dragoons actually fly in one game, and it was Tactics Ogre for the GBA(frikken awesome game, btw).

He uses spears, so he should have a range of 2-4. If you wanna exploit his "jump" ability even further, give him a range of 8, just for the heck of it. Dragoons in FFT can Jump from hella far away. Also, if you give him more range get rid of EW and replace it with RCE. Gives you another attack option, just in case your opponent Outwits his BCF.

Range of 2 for the spear. Kain's jump attack would work like the Leap/Climb close combat on a soaring figure which he had to do for the team against the feind of air. Think of it as she was soaring and when cain attacked it hit her onto a grounded click.

Most is good. Id give him no exploit weakness. EW and BCF would be good but I don't think Kain warrents it. Then I'd have toughness on the front of the dial and will power at the end. He like other heavy armored figures just isn't mobile enough to dodge quickly.

Good dial though.

Sephiroth starts by trying to mess you up with his dashing around and trying to teleports behind you while slashing you with his wicked long sword. After that he blast the area around him with fire that if you are in his range he hits you. Soon after he tries to run the board with his meteor shower that hits an area. After his little range battle he goes into the super teleporter, constently teleporting behind you to slash. He has orbs around him at this point that make it hard to get in close to him and you eventually take some damage from these which is why he has poison.

There is Sephiroth, the One Winged Angle.

I was thinking of that but sin harvest doesn't translate into click form well. It more than cuts through defense, it kills you instantly. Just doesn't work in clicks.

Thanks, man. And Sin Harvest isn't an automatic kill. It takes you all the way down to exactly 1 HP and 1 MP. I hate to admit it, but it's Kefka's "Fallen One" on steroids.

Kefka comes out to 250 points.

Sin Harvest is an isntant kill if you don't have the Second Chance skill equipted, which keeps you at one HP. And Sin Harvest takes away all your MP so you're at 0MP.

Sin Harvest is just Kingdom Hearts version of Fallen Angle which most final fantasy end game bosses have. (VI through IX)

I completely forgot about Second Chance. But I still think that KH Seph deserves PB. In fact, KH Sephiroth should be Hulk-like, in that his best stats/powers should be in the middle and near the end of his dial. This would be about the part when he uses Sin Harvest and his Onmislash like attack, Meteor, etc. liberally. His first few attack values shouldn't be any more than a 10. My opinion, of course.

eh, it's all how we see him. Honestly his stats wouldn't change being a video game. I wonder how a 9 speed 10 attack 16 defense and 3 damage strait with different powers be. To expensive probably.

The thing that kills Kefka's points is the psycic blast (one of the reasons I didn't drop it on Sephiroth) and the late outwit. Also Invulnerability and impervious don't help much either.

You where making the Kefka just befor the world of ruin right? Why all the psycic blast? I'd think he'd be a energy explosion guy. Him and the Emporer sure liked fire and lightning.

Most is good. Id give him no exploit weakness. EW and BCF would be good but I don't think Kain warrents it. Then I'd have toughness on the front of the dial and will power at the end. He like other heavy armored figures just isn't mobile enough to dodge quickly.

ok i will change the range of 0 to 2 because you guys are right... but at the defense i will leave it like that since he does have a shield and can deflect so hits and armor. what i might do is drop his move to a starting 10 and drops it the same way i did before. EW i can care less about it. I just thought that it would be cool to have it.

To Seed: I thought about making him with RCE but thats not him. He is a close combat attacker that can jump. Thats why he has L/C almost all his dial.

also another reason i didnt put anything else besides BCF is because he doesnt do Ice, Fire, or Lit normally he needs that special lance. So i cant put like INC representing Ice and EE representing Fire in the same dial.

You know what would be funny(as well as annoying)? Make a FF 7 character with PB and a natural 7 damage to represent them using KotR.

Good dial though. You might have put more Toughness instead of Willpower. But, he gets his just as much as the other characters, and Willpower somehow suits him better. Other than that unnessary range, I have no complaints.

Yeah, Materia, Magicite, special weapons, etc should be used as artifacts. Like in Mage Knight.

He's got range (Aurabolt) and the Figaro Bros to show the brothers working together to take ya down.

I'd recommend two reclics for him:

Offering: Give this character four close combat attacks, but reduce damage to one. Damage done through this action is totaled at the end of the action.

Black Belt: When this character is dealt damage make one dice roll. On a result of five or six this character may make a retaliatory attack.

But, why the Leadership? He never wanted the throne. He showed no ambition other than possibly surpassing Duncan. And why would he start out with Bum Rush, then more on to Pummel? And, the Team Ability should be Kingdom of Figaro. Otherwise, there would only be 2 members of the team(unless you also want to count Gerad.)

Outwit because he went behind the back of the Empire so many times as a sort of supplyer to the Returners(I think that was his job with them.)

Your right about the Leadership. My thinking was that since he is of royal blood he would have the natural ability to inspire. That's more Edgar's thing. I'll trade that for Exploit Weakness on his first click (this works better with Bum Rush anyway). Oh, and Kingdom of Figaro it is.

She may not be as badass as Dr. Doom, but the V Nebula is a monster for her points, more so with the dual INC and 10 range.

For Sabin, his rookie would be unaligned and his exp and vet would be Returners. The kingdome isn't in the game long enough to warrent a team ability for them.

The LEs Madam Hydra, LE Whitney Frost (sp), and the Exp. Taskmaster are good Mastermind figs in Marvel.

The vet or unique Joker and the Vet Penguin and all versions of Two-Face are good Masterminders for the DC side.

The Returners are freedom fighters that rely on guerrilla warfare tactics. They've been fighting the Empire for years before the game even starts. As for Figaro Kingdom, they're there throughout the whole game. They just don't have a big part. If you play the part where Gesthal throws a banquet for your party right, all of Figaro gets liberated. Plus, I will make Figaro machinists and soldiers clix soon. I will focus mostly on FF 6 figs, with exception to my favorite hero, Squall and possibly Seifer.

Okay. So I joined this clan (first time ever to get in one...) when it started all that time ago, and then I went out of town, and by the time I returned, this sitnkin' thread had gotten so long that I decided to just wait until I could read it ALL. Well, I've finally come to the perfect time to do so.

I'm playing FFIX, and I'm leveling up at the end of Disc III in Oeilvert, using that trick by letting the Epitaphs use "Mirror" against me three times, and then RAKING IN THE EP! I know that not everyone likes to play this way, but my favorite strategy is leveling up to crazy-high number and then just wailing on the baddies. Anywho, I decided that since that really doesn't take much brain power to do that, that I would start from the beginning in this thread and play catch-up. Now, I have no idea what you all are doing way up there in the posts that are almost to 500 already, but I'm really enjoying these posts from around #70-80. It's especially great to see how many people love FF VI! This was my very first FF and RPG and is by far the best in terms of story and characters for its time.

Looking forward to being able to catch up to the rest of you over the next few days.

Okay, lets finnish the Turks. I may be way off on this one though.

The Mind control was the only thing that could represent Confusion well, but it looks really good.

Vincient will be a hard one to make. The Rookie could be a Turk. But I don't know about the Exp. and The Vet. I'd like to incorperate his limit breaks into his dial, HellMasker, Death Gigas, Galian Beast and Chaos. But i don't know how.

But since he was a Turk, that makes it a little Difficult. And I don't like the Hellmasker, so i don't want to make him the Vet.

Post WoR. Higher attack, damage, and Exploit Weakness represent Air Anchor, Drill and Chainsaw. He ditches Leadership as his role in the game is somewhat reduced at this point

I could see vincent being a ranged character where at some point in his dial he switches to a Break monster. You could only do two that way, so maybe the first and last? I'm not a fan of the Jason rip of break. But I like the other three. I'm thinking first and last as they seem to represent him more than the others.

The rookie just wouldn't have the break stuff. I'm assuming his weapon skills come from that.

Our first TV represenitive is Kaze himself. He's known for showing up at the right time, firing his handgun until the Magun finaly thaws and allows him to summon the apropriate monster to finish off the threat.

Okay, I've got an Idea for the Returners team ability. The stealth ain't sitting well with me so I was wondering what poeple though of it becoming the Titans team ability. They more than any final fantasy seemed to be like a group who was willing to take a bullet for the other and help them throught their problems. I think this fits better than auto stealth. The only stealthy characters on the Returners was Shadow and Locke. All the others barged in or ran away from the Empire.

Sorry, it's just bugging me. Stealth team should be for Ninjas or something like that (FFIV team?)

Mmm, sure. Why not. As much as I love FF 6, The Returners really don't deserve one of the best team abilities in the game.

Figured it out. We can do them all if we make the LE the missing break. So do it up like that and make the LE the Hell Master (?).

That'll get vinc in all his forms.
