Hey all you fanboys that know more than me. I'm thinking about a fanfic where the entire continent of Australia is largely uninhabited. Naturally, it would follow that there are no Australians in this world. How many heroes and villains would that effect? Of the top of my head, I can't really think of any Aussies, but I'm not the biggest DC fanboy around. Can anyone help me?

I think Captain Boomerang is from Aussie. The Tazmanian Devl from the Global Guardians is from Australia too.

Well, there's always the Tasmanian Devil from the "Global Guardians" (and later Justice League embassy support staff). :)
Ultra pre-crisis was raised by an Aboriginie (sp?), he was from another world/dimension but raised in Australia.

Isn't there someone named Bushmaster from Australia?

Think Bushmaster (also from Global Guardians) was from New Zealand...close enough though. :)
I still say you just do this in Marvel Earth so we can see the disappearance of Hugh Jackman, Eric Bana and Thomas Jane thus leading to the destruction of the movie industry as it's currently known. :)

Well, take a look at

The only (somewhat) significant character that hasn't already been mentioned is one of the New Guardians, Betty Clawman.
And as for Captain Boomerang, it was suggested/revealed that he wasn't really Australian, what with his egregiously bad use of Australian slang.

Spotlight issue in Suicide Squad revealed a few things about Digger:
1) He kinda hammed it up for his American debut.
2) Turns out his dad was American (and not the same man he always believed was his dad), making him, to his disgust, "half Yank".
3) I really miss Ostrander.

So basically, the DC universe won't be missing too much if we nixed Australia. That next question is not who, but what? If Australia was uninhabited, wouldn't it be the case that Batman wouldn't have a batarang? Are there any other effects you can think of like this?
Thanks for all the help.

The outcome of WWII's Pacific Theatre would be greatly altered for a start.
If there were no Australian penal colony to begin with, where were all those prisoners sent?
and most importantly, Ambush Bug would never have fought "The Koala who Walks Like a Man."
"Nik Nak!"
Also, Australia was an important front during the Invasion! mini-series (I believe it greatly affected the ranks of the Doom Patrol, setting up Morrison's run).

It could be that the penal colony was established there, they just didn't survive. Perhaps there are aborigines there that overpowered the colony.
As for the Pacific theater, I hadn't even considered that. Could you expound on that for me? It's been a long time since I studied World War II.
