Currently, I'm reading the trade paperback for Grant Morrison's JLA: Rock of Ages. In general, I like it. However, at moments, it is difficult to understand. I can decipher the gist of what is occurring, but there are times when I'm totally lost. For me, this book is going to take a couple of re-reads.

By the way, although I'm enjoying Grant Morrison's work on the JLA, I don't think it's as good as what he did with Buddy Baker: Animal Man!
I enjoyed Rock of Ages a lot. I think there's some stuff that's meant to come out of left field to show you the scope of what's happening is far beyond what the League comprehends. There are also nuggets planted for future storylines (specifically "DC 1,000,000" and "World War III") that later have a bit more meaning.

I definitely enjoy Grant Morrison's writing - my favourite probably being his "Arkham Asylum" GN or maybe the first JLA storyarc - but he has a problem of starting off strong and then weirding out too much. He also has a problem of getting too caught up in things that he can't resolve them all properly or in time, leading to some weak endings I feel.
Over in the Marvel forums - under a thread about "What's the deal with New X-Men #151-154" - I posted some excerpts from an interview with Morrison that might help explain part of that weirdness problem. :)

I liked Rock of Ages, especially the "Darkseid Future" part. I thought Batman was really treated well, even though he died (you know you've done a good job on Batman when you kill him and a die-hard fan like me still liked it). I thought Atom's future costume was pretty cool, too.

Yeah, dude, that was a cool death. I loved what he said to Darkseid before he died:
"You want to know why you're surrounded by all these 'maggots,' Darkseid? Because you did what you said you'd do; you recreated the whole world in your own image. And what you see in them is your own ugly faaaaaaaaa..." *gets disintregated*
Defiant to the last.
