Well, I have been having my own second thoughts about this movie since it does look as bad as the Dolph Lundgren one.
However, trying to read one of Harry's reviews gives me a splitting headache as he tries TOO hard to be a prophetic writer. I guess when adjectives and other big words get too hard to comprehend, just throw in a few swear words and the followers will worship you, huh?
I'm still waiting for Harry to review his basement dwelling in his Mom's house

As humorous as that would be, I'd be too horrified to actually read it.
I read that yesterday, and Harry just spews venom like diarrhea of the mouth.
There's nothing of value in his review, just a lot of hate and anger at the movie.
AICN is good for getting advance scoops and news, but Harry's reviews are the least worthwhile thing on the site. Ironically.
I'll go see this movie despite his scathing, juvenile review.

I actually skipped past his, and read the others on the page. I believe Moriarity loved it.
I'm sure it won't be that bad. If you go to a Punisher movie expecting something other than a guy's family being killed, and him flipping out and killing every jaywalker he sees, it's YOUR fault if you don't like it.

I love AICN! If anyone wants to see REAL flame wars, check out the Talkbacks!
Harry's reviews and the Talkbacks are entertainment in themselves!
No, if you want flames, go to DCcomics.com message boards.
It's pointless to even try and talk about comics, or anything even remotely intelligent over there.

You mean it won't be a hollywood blockbuster with 11 acadamy award nominations grossing 100 billion worldwide?
It's just gonna be a movie that you go see at a theatre and enjoy while eating expensive popcorn and soda????
Hmm, maybe I'll just have to see it then!

Wouldn't it be great if more people actually looked at movies like that? I don't go to the movies to see "real life". I live in reality. I go to the movies to see car chases, explosions, slutty women who also happen to look like supermodels, and the occasional hobbit.
it's Punisher, who good could this thing really be? Park your brain at the door and enjoy. Were you expecting oscar material here?

A supermodel hobbit? Hmm, the possiblities are ENDLESS!!!!

I'm not.
I was sure Hulk wouldn't be 'that bad', and I was wrong.
I had hopes for Punisher. Even though I hate the character, I like the movie genre and would like to see it succeed. But, unfortunately, I get the feeling that the reviewers might not be that far off the mark.
No thanks, I'll be saving my $7.00 (oh, I'll still see the movie -- I'll just probably be downloading it off of the internet).
Count me among those happily waiting for Spider-Man 2.

I seriously doubt that DCcomics.com forums have better flames than the Talkbacks at AICN . . .
I may have to investigate . . .

OOOOOOOHHHHH yes they do.
It's so irritating. There are times that I don't think they even have moderators. Worst message board I've ever seen.

I like the way you think. I will be seeing it this weekend, and Kill Bill 2. And if you guys don't want to waste 7 bucks, go during the day, it's only 5 bucks.
 Now my problem is which movie to see first?
I see movies for two reasons.
I go to movies because I want some mindless entertainment.
or
I go to movies because I want a pseudo-profound experience that leaves me emotionally affected and thoughtful.
Punisher is a former over the latter. On that same vein I have a good friend that is trying to become a screen writer, and most "movie people" that I have met are all about lighting and artistic value, but she is different. She says that "Movies are for entertainment and that is what they shoudl do entertain, if you want revelations and life changing experiences read the Dali Lama's book" I think that is a great philosophy to have. I will go see it because I like that kind of movie. Oh, and I liked the Hulk movie too. Never read the comic book and I was pretty well entertained so for me it was worth it, even bought the DVD.

I too liked the hulk, but it seemed they took a little too long getting to the good stuff.
I also read somewhere that Raimi is going to focus primarily on the love story with Peter Parker/Mary Jane rather than focus on Spider-Man.

Actually, the reason why I like Harry's reviews is because no SPOILER WARNINGs are needed. I don't always agree with his assessment of a movie, but his breakdown of it gives me something to think about. It's the same reason I used to watch Siskel and Ebert; by breaking it down, I was able to figure out for myself if I would like the movie.
S&E: Ace Ventura--worst movie of the year!! (I loved it, though)
S&E: Ace Ventura 2--one thumb up, one thumb down (I hated it!)

 Didn't you see the ads before movies with the stuntman and the set designer and how you are hurting their ability to make a living by downloading it off the internet??!?
Oh wait, they send that propaganda to the people who actually PAID for the movie! :p (They just cut it out of the downloaded versions... you know, the audience that ISN'T paying for seeing a movie who they should be targetting. )
The Punisher is actually pretty good, for a revenge film. If that's what you're expecting, then you won't be disappointed. I think that's the problem most people had with The Hulk... they were expecting a lot of smashing... but it was an ANG LEE FILM!!
And I work in a movie theatre... so I know the ad with the stuntman almost by heart. And I happen to agree with it, although they are targeting the wrong audience...

It got a "D" in my local fishwrap (Atlanta-Journal).
Honestly, it didn't look that great to me in the trailers. I mean, it's a <yawn> revenge movie. I haven't even seen Kill Bill yet.
Yeah, the reviews haven't been as kind as they were to Hellboy. Then again, I hated Hellboy!
Either way, I'm seeing it tonight!

What did you hate about Hellboy? I haven't seen it yet, and don't know much about Hellboy . . .
