Wow - just picked up the complete set loose (with the exception of the recently released GL boxed set) and I'm really impressed. Sure, they exceedingly simple - but I like that colorful, almost goofy appearance. Any other fans?

And if anybody has some customs they're willing to sell/trade, let me know.

I also like the All-New Uncanny X-Men minimates, but there isn't enough characters in that line to interest me yet. How many Daredevils and Spider-Mans do I need? The cost of the new C3 of DC minimates is prohibitive - too bad!

DC will be having some of their own minimates out this summer I think!! Pocket heros are awesome!! Got them all so far- And I love the simplicity of them but just how neat they are. The minimates are cool and all buit like you said how many spidermans do you need (unless they are clix! HAH)...plus I like the pocket heros because there are no "Chase" figs or "con" exclusives and junk just neat toys!!

I love the pocket heroes too! I really like the selection of heroes, especially the Golden Age ones. JSA rules! :) Anyway there are chase/exclusive pocket heroes ... sorry to say. BTW I'm a little annoyed with con-exclusives myself, much less actual chase figures too! The Pocket Hero con-exclusives are firstly Superman in a single bag with a chunk of Kryptonite. I can't remember if it's the Supes/Kent, or JLA box set Superman, but the exact same Superman can be gotten that way as well as the Kryptonite chunk. Supes was last year. This year there is Catwoman, and it's a different Catwoman than the one supposed to come out in the Batman box set later this year (expected 6/04). The chase figure is a Golden Age Wonder Woman. It's actually different from the other two WW found in the JLA box set, and the WW/Cheetah pack (which are both different from each other for a total of 3 different WW's). You can find WW in a Solomon Grundy DC Direct figure packaged as a single like the con-exclusives. Or you can look for just WW on eBay. Both her, and Supes aren't up too often though. Catwoman first appeared at the Toyfair in NY earlier this year. I think she was included as part of the gift bag given to the dealers.

Pocket heroes? Okay, There obviously a toy but are these available in the US, and if so, are they in a similar scale to clix?

Pocket Heroes are just over 3" tall, and are action figures simplistic in design. The arms move, the legs move (at the hips only), and head. Some have capes (very small), and very few have weapons/items. Oh!, and a small hole in one foot presumably for some kind of a display stand. Also includes a small background card, and two little white circular stands to display it with. They are DC only made by DC Direct, and are mostly sold in two-packs although the 6 figure box sets have become popular this year. They are sold in US, & canada (has US & Canadian sug. retail price) don't know if anywhere else. Suggested retail is $9.95 US, $16.95 Canada. the box sets are @ $20 each. To be honest I like them because they are very similiar to the Batman, Robin, and Superman, etc.. action figures I got as a kid in the mid 70's. The paint jobs today are much better, and the figures a little more durable though. That, and the fact the selection of figures include most of the JSA, as well as other cool choices.

I agree - I love the selection. Original JSA, old-school Legion, original Titans, a handful of Rogues from Flash . . . especially like the JLA table and chair set!

I picked up the Wonder Woman exclusive, but for the life of me I can't figure out if the Superman exclusive is different in any way - ? I admit to liking the Catwoman exclusive, and will need to find one!

There are no more two-packs planned, just boxed sets I guess. The Green Lantern box set just came out - but there's not enough there to interest me - the two-packs already provided an Alan Scott, Hal Jordan, Guardian, Guy Gardner, and Kyle Rayner albeit with different paint jobs. The Batman and Superman boxed sets are much more interesting.

Are minimates available at Toys R Us?

redmenace,

They look like Lego people.

Not a fan of the pocket heroes (mostly becaue I'm not a huge DC fan) but I love the MiniMates. The Toys R Us sets are the way to go. 5 figs for 10 bucks. Alot cheaper than 7 bucks for two! P.S. The Captain America looks awesome!

Mini-mates are also cool, and are at the moment still Marvel only, but that will change this year, when Mini-Mates tries its hand at a form/brand of Lego with the people from/with the sets being actual Mini-mates. Mini-mates are available at Toys R Us, and Toys R Us even has Mini-mate exclusives. They have 3 box sets (Hulk/Daredevil, Spiderman, and X-Men) with 5 figs each. Be aware that there are currently 5 series available of Mini-mates, and each series has a pair of chase figures. Actually only 1 fig in the pack is different, but the chase version is usually the cooler one.

The promo Superman is just like the Superman from the 2-pack. Same paint job, same block of kryptonite. :) I like the box sets too. The GL's were OK. jade was cool, and new, as well as Parallax (sorry if i spelled wrong). The Kyle repaint is better than the one with the JLA box set, and I was pleasantly surprised at the Alan Scott repaint. Sentinel looks alright! :) John Stewart I could go either way with. The recent cartoon series has given me a new look on his character though, and a little more respect. Guy Gardner however ... Ugh! The best part about Guy was every time Batman punched him in the mouth, and dropped him like a sack of potatoes with 1 hit. It was great, and one of the few pay-offs for actually reading the late 80's, early 90's? JL, JLI, JLA, JLE(Europe). I probably would be interested in the current book, and group of heroes, but all of that other stuff was just confusing, and mostly carp. Anyway .... Pocket Heroes rule! I'm also looking forward to the Bats, and Supes sets coming later this year. Both sets are supposed to have the chair for the JLA table for each of them, and I'm really looking forward to Lex Luthor!

Too bad about the DC minimates - I don't want playsets, I just want the figures. Maybe they'll be a re-release with just the figures.

Do the Minimates fit into Lego stuff? I really want to get some, and was just wondering if the do or not.

The DC Minimates are being promoted as a construction set toy. If they sell the figures seperately, it apparently violates the licensing agreement DC has with Mattel (who produces the Batman and JLA figures action figures)

That is what is being said on the toy boards I lurk about.

I occassionally buy pocket heroes but Minimates are so much more poseable and its so fun to mix and match parts.

Hulk's head and hands, Kingpin's Body: Terrific!

I'm not sure (I don't own any Legos) but...

The Minimates fit nicely inside the new Transformer Alternators.

I have an extra Daredevil driving Smokescreen. His hand even holds the stick shift. Too cool.

So how do I get my hands on a Captain America Minimate? And have they made Thor, yet?

BudPalmer
04/16/2004, 14:42
No Thor yet. Cap comes in a two pack with Absorbing Man. The Thing/Dr. Doom two pack is great too. Thing looks a little silly because his hands are so big. Makes me wanna buy another one and but together a Hellboy custom (anyone who owns one will know what I'm talking about).

I have too many Lego's. :) If you mean do they fit Lego stuff by being the same size as Lego figures? No, Mini-mates are almost twice as tall. If you mean, do they attach onto Lego's like Lego people do? No, Lego people have the holes in their feet, Mini-mates have flat feet. Mini-mates also have bending kneees, and elbows, where Lego people do not.

Now, with all that said, and done. The beauty of Lego's is you can build whatever you want. So you can build a whole city for your little Mini-mates if you want. :)

I found packaging Cap with Absorbing Man a little odd. Why couldn't we get a Red Skull?

Cpt. America mini-mate is very new. I found mine on the internet. Actually the dealer/seller I met on eBay, and you can easily find him there. No plans for a Thor mini-mate just yet, but Iron Man is expected later this year, and will be one of the variants. He will have a chase figure of him in Stealth Armor. Other heroes are too many versions of Spiderman, Dardevil, and Wolverine ..... what else is new, right? :) j/k Anyway they also have a very cool X-men box set of the original NEW X-Men(storm, crawler, wolvie, cyke, etc.. no sunfire). Hulk, Prof. X, Elektra, Jean Grey, Thing, and Surfer (who was a Tower records exclusive, but will be available later this year as part of a Thanos 2-pack), are a few more heroes. Juggernaut, Kingpin, Carnage, Venom, Dr. Doom, Bullseye, Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Absorbing Man, and Magneto, are all, or most of the villains. Oh yeah! Sabertooth, and Rhino too, and Rhino will be part of a 2-pack later this year. Currently he's only in the Spidey 5-pack from Toys R Us.

I'll definetely pick up the Cap/A Man 2pack. And probably the Iron Man, and Thanos packs as well. Man, those things are super sweet!

Here is a link to the list of DC minimates coming out - http://www.madhattersneverland.com/checklists/minimates_DC_checklist/checklist.htm

And here is a very cool list of the DC Pocket Superheroes - http://www.joeacevedo.com/docs/figurezone/dcdpocketsuperheroes.htm

I can't recall Realmworx policy on links, so mea culpa mods if I've sinned . . .

I love Minimates I have them all except for the con exclusives, I advise anyone to be prepaired once you buy one you'll make a commitment to buy them all. My 2 favorite minimates are Juggernaut and Cap. Also if you take Wolverines mask and put it on Yellow Daredevils body you'll make a D-man minimate:confused: .

Ooooh - look at what I found! Images for current and upcoming exclusives can be found here (http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/marvelminimates/lst?.dir=/Exclusives&.src=gr&.order=&.view=t&.done=http%3a//briefcase.yahoo.com/)

It sounds like:
Original Iron Man & Silver Centurion Iron Man 2-pack is available from AFX
Clobberin' Time Thing and Super-Skrull 2-pack from Tower
Iron Fist & Power Man 2-pack from Toyfare (also available online at wizarduniverse)
Brown Suit Wolverine & Mariko Yashida 2-pack from SDCC

Be cautious though, the Newer TRU Minimate sets only have 4 figres in them, the first sets did have 5.....but the newer ones only got the four on the package.
If this is listed somewhere else, sorry... :)

Hey Thunderclese - read somewhere that they're ditching Thanos and making a Spider-Man 2099 figure instead - ???

sorry I haven't posted to this sooner, but I don't have any good/great links to pictures. I also haven't heard about Thanos yet, either. However in the current issue of Toyfare #83, there is a mail-away offer for Power Man, and Iron Fist minimates. This issue also has a lot of cool info on the new upcoming DC minimates coming soon. The DC ones will come with a new brand/form of lego. The bigger the set, the more figs you'll get. ....... Oh yeah! There's also a little bit about a special minimate 2-pack that will be a San Diego con exclusive only (5,000 pieces). It will be Wolverine in the 80's brown & orange clothes with Mariko. She's an old lover from Japan.
