i've been a huge captain britain fan for years. started with Excalibur, then i got the trades by alan moore. so when i heard that chuck austen was reviveing Cap Britain in Avengers i was elated (Captain Britain, kick ###!) and scared (chuck austen, boo). so i just read the latest avengers issue (i love olivier coipel's art) and i gotta say that i think this new Cap has alot of potential. she's got tragic elements to her, this thing with brian braddock as her mentor seems cool, her costume incorpurates all the best elements from the original costum (and i like that she has a sceptor). the costume is awesome. i'm not saying austen's story is good, but i think the ground work is there for a new , intersting take on Captain Britain.

anybody else have any thoughts?

Hey skinnykid71,

Yeah, I kinda liked here too. She's got guts and cuts a fine figure in the costume. It would have been nice if she'd stayed in the 'first incarnation' outfit for a while before the modernised version 'flashed' in. Did the sword transform into the sceptre? I didn't quite catch that.

I can't quite understand what Marvel is doing letting Austen write comics but, he may well have given us a true successor to Captain Britian's Throne.

i really did the costume. i'm trying to think of a way to mod it.

i'd love a new Capt Britain series. play up villians like morgan le fey, bring in the stuff from the old series, Brian Braddock could act as her mentor (he was a scientist i believe), throw in the Black Knight & Union Jack, brush off some of those old Marvel UK characters (like Death's Head). i think it could be really fun.
