View Full Version : Maps Trying to make my own map but need help!

I'm trying to make my own map right now but I only want to make it the normal 24x24 1.5 inch, but with nothing but the gridlines. I've tried using Microsoft Excel but I can't figure out what measurement I out in where. So I am looking for more Ideas to make the start of my map. If anyone has some ideas please post here. Thanks alot!

Good luck - I don't know about making maps with computers. I don't have access to anything that could print out a sheet of paper that big.
When I make my own maps - I do them the old fashion way: Ruler, Straight Edge / T-Square, and a Pencil. Just add Laminate and bingo.
Gives my maps more of that drawn - comic-booky feel to them.

You REALLY want to use Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator, or a comparable image manipulation tool. MS Excel isn't really suited for making grid images - you can't vary the line thickness, etc. - right tool for the job is always well worth it.
i do my grids in Illustrator, which allows me to allign everything real nice and adjust the thickness of the lines. Then i export that to photoshop and finish up the design. I have some templates in both Illustrator and Photoshop if ya need them

Beat me to the punch MrX. I was just going to say the same thing. I have plain grids saved in Illustrator as well.:)

There is a really good map making program called Dungeon Crafter on Cabal City.com Go to the downloads section and Download it. It is free, and it has pre-made tiles and objects and all. check it out
