Emily Lynn Seymour was born today at 8:33 a.m., weighing in at 9 pounds and 3 ounces, measuring 21 1/2 inches.

I have to say, it was the happiest moment of my life.

Mom and baby are both doing well, dad here on the other hand is just trying to hold it together. ;)

CONGRATULATIONS!

Yes, life is going to be hell for a while. But it will get better. Then worse in a couple of years. Then better, and it will likely stay that way until she hits puberty. And then it'll improve when she hits college, unless you're poor.

I wish you the very best, and recommend you stick all your Clix, dice, and gaming tools well above anywhere she can reach or crawl.

Now.

Yes, I know she isn't going to be crawling for a while, but trust me on this one...

Well it's been said before but:

CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!!

Looks like you are going to have to get used to nonstop whining and crying at all hours... :ermm: ...wait a minute you should already be used to that from dealing with all us "babies" here ;) .

Glad to hear you have been so blessed :)

Welcome to the ranks of fatherhood. It gets worse before it gets better. And from what I hear it gets worse again around age 12. My daughter is three. Good luck.

Congrats to you and your wife. My wife and I just had our little angel this past December, and it's more than I ever could have expected! I understand so much more about life now and definitely have a greater appreciation for my parents ;)

You won't believe how much FUN an infant can be! Good luck!

Congrats webhead. As a proud godparent I know the joys of childbirth without the annoyance of having to raise them. Make sure that someone spoils her with stuff that drives you crazy.

God bless you, your new baby, and your wife. Remind her always that it was all your fault, she wouldn't of had to go through labor if it wasn't for you (duh!) and life will be good.

My wife and I were fortunate when our little guy was born in many ways; one being that both grandma's were there for his birth. My Mom lives just a few blocks over and rode with us to the hospital. En route, she pointed to all the windows that had lights on in the kitchen. She said, "You're joining that club in a few hours. Hope you both got sleep last night, since that will probably be your last good night of sleep for about 18-20 years."

Slight exaggeration, but two years later, I can say, yeah. You don't sleep much. Even when they do sleep through the night just around a year or so old. Then you're laying there thinking, "He didn't wake up at 2 am. THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG!" Then your dumb arse goes in to "just check on him," you wind waking him up, and of course, its all back to normal. :)

I'll leave you with this thought. A good friend of mine said it this way, "Look, babies are hell. They cry, they carp{ ;) }, the can't tell you what's wrong. But before you know it, they're talking, walking, learning, loving. That's when you realize, through them, that you're now immortal."

Peace to you, m'friend. Get some sleep, keep the clix out of reach, and enjoy it. Congratulations!

Tim "Frontman" Scallon, father of Anthony Michael

P.S. Two votes on "adorable" for a name.

webhead,

may i suggest that you now invest in a small rocketship for your newborn, just in case something may befall earth. you NEVER know....
and be sure to include a uniform and a cape, she'll need it.

Seriously though, thats awesome, and CONGRATS! in no time, she'll be running around begging you to buy a booster pack of POWERBOMB. so cherish these moments. and if theres one thing i learned from the past two years in Japan, that i can impart to you....
TAKE TONS OF PICTURES!!!
you can use them to embarrass the heck out of her when she gets her first boyfriend.

Also, if you need any reccommendations on appropriate music to play in the Nursery for child development and mental stimulation, just ask the Realms' resident Classical Expert;) (i would seriously suggest The Mozart Effect to start)

CONGRATS again, and best of luck in the next 18+ years!!!

Welcome to fatherhood. Our first is just 6 weeks old, and it's absolutely wonderful. If you have any questions feel free to ask away, and go out of your way to help out your wife, sometimes they suffer from post partum depression. Good luck!

A hardy handshake and congrats to you. As the father of a 3 year old daughter I can second the notion that things will get worse before they get better. It WILL all be worth it however.
So enjoy it while it lasts, they are grown before you know it.

P.S. My daughter always wants to play with my Heroclix. I feel like an idiot saying" no, these are daddy's toys".

Congratulations! God bless your whole (now larger) family!

Remember, it is never too early to start clicking. Start reading the powers card to her, but remember it will be some time before she can differentiate the colors. lol

I don't have girls (3 sons), but remember these words from Bill Envall, speaking to a future suitor for his daughter, "That girl is my whole world. If you try to kiss her, touch her, or in any way hurt her, remember that I have no problem going back to prison.";)

Congratulations Webhead. I don't have any rugrats of my
own, but I have 4 nieces and 2 nephews. Their beautiful,
rowdy, and manipulative little buggers and I wouldn't
trade them for anything (not even Galactus).

Once again Congratulations and good luck

Congratulations. My little boy turned 1 this week. It has been a fun year. Pretty soon you won't remember what it was like before her.
I hope that you will develop the ability to analyze her cry, realize that she is hungry and decide to ignore it since you lack the equipment to help, all without waking up soon. It loses points with the mom, but gains you points with the sandman. Nothing cheeses my wife off more than me waking up in the morning believing that he slept all night only to find out that she was up with him at 3.

05/18/2004, 11:56
Congratulations, Webhead. And welcome to the club. :)

By the way, all of the stuff that you're hearing about it getting better until she hits puberty ... ?

How do I put this nicely ... ? Umm, well, they're lying. We've got friends whose three and four year old girls are already grunting and rolling their eyes when they're told to do something like they're teenagers.

But, even as bad as it might get, it's still the most rewarding thing you'll ever do. Congrats!

ahole_derby
05/18/2004, 12:09
JacinB, you ain't kidding! My 5 year-old girl will grunt "HMMMPH" to me, put her hands on her hips and strut away if she hears something she doesn't like. Sometimes it's like we have a mini 13 year-old. Add that to my 2 year-old boy's personality, and you get quite an interesting time. A lot of fun, as well.

Congratulations Webhead!

That's awesome, webhead - congrats!
It can be a real test of your patience at times, but to see the little ones growing a little bit every day, discovering new words and things - it's a great feeling.
My wish for you is that the little one loves to sleep! My son doesn't, and there have been many sleepless nights for me in the past year or so.
Again, best wishes!
