Here it is. Same rules as normal, this is entirely a matter of opinion and has nothing to do with heroclix. Here we go:

The Super Sorcerors: Dr. Fate vs. Dr. Strange
Fate pros: IDK
Strange pros: IDK

Place your bets now.

Next time on Battle of the Ages!: The Mech-Men. That's in 2 days, check back then.

Do you agree with the JLA/Avengers crossover that implicated that magic in general is much more powerful/prevalent in the DCU than the Marvel U?

If so, how would that factor into your assessment?

In JLA/Avengers, Scarlet Witch tapped into the magic that permeates the DCU and could barely control it. As a matter of fact, it almost claimed her.

Doctor Fate uses THAT magic to make his cereal in the morning.

Dr. Strange might have had a chance against Linda/Eric Strauss as Doc Fate, mebbe even Kent Nelson on a really bad day. Hector Hall would take him without leaving his tower.

Fate wins!

In general, the magic in the DCU is more powerful, or at least more readily available on a personal level.
The same power Dr. Strange has to entreat mystical entities for, Dr. Fate can wield personally, and with a lot less incantation and other formalities.
Experience might give Strange a shot of outwitting Hector, but in terms of pure power, the current Fate wins.
Strange would have no real chance against the Kent Nelson Fate.

Doctor Fate...Strange is very powerful, and might be (Marvel) Earth's Sorceror Supreme - But Doctor Fate has tea with the Lords of Order on a regular basis...Strange is Earth oriented, fate is "cosmic"!

it was explained somewhere that Fate's only Mystic better is the Spectre. Looks like Fate is taking the floor unanimously.

Once CrawlingNight gets here, Strange MAY get a vote.

haw haw haw!!!

I agree with the others Dr. Fate would win easily

Phantom Stranger isn't more powerful, or at least equal to Doctor Fate? I always kind of considered them peers...

Fate, due to both good reasons and stupid reasons.

Good reasons: See above posts.

Stupid Reason: Fate has a magic amulet, cloak and helm. Strange has only an amulet and cloak. Ergo, Fate is better.

That's rather my point.

If the fight takes place in the DCU, you're going to see a Dr. Strange with access to a *whole* lot more power than normal, and he's *not* likely to be overwhelmed like the Witch.

Similarly, if the fight takes place in the Marvel Universe, what power is Dr. Fate going to call on? He's lost access to most of his personal power, and doesn't know any cosmic entities to entreat for more.

I would assume they are in a neutral location where each calls upon power from there own universe.

Ha! I laugh in your faces! Dr. Strange is the MAN...Earth's Sorcerer Supreme. He controls the Eye of Agamoto, the Crimson Bands of Cytorrak and even the allmighty Book of Darkhold :devious:

Don't even disagree...because I won't come back to this thread to read it :p

For what it's worth, Dr. Strange has faced off against the In-Betweener and has dealt with Eternity off and on. Marvel doesn't get much more "cosmic" than that. ... and, of course, his two biggest enemies are rulers of their respective *dimensions*.

A friend and I actually played this showdown last week. Vet to Vet. The good Dr. Fate took a total of 3 clix of damage, while Dr. Strange was KO'd.
As for the Comic approach I'd say that if the mystical forces are equal in each universe. they are equally matched.

Basically, Dr. Strange is a sorceror, while Dr. Fate pretty much is the type of entity Strange would entreat for power. He has a main-line tap into magic itself, pretty much.

Raw power goes to Dr. Fate.

Skill goes to Dr. Strange.

As far as I'm concerned...it goes either way.
