THE LEGION (of Superheroes)
While everyone has been crying over the antics of Chuck Austen in X-Men and Avengers for the last two years, the greatest team book of the last four years has not been getting it's props or notice.
THE LEGION by Abnett/Lanning with Coipel (where Avengers stole him from) and Batista.
This book is now on the cancellation block. Hopefully for a reboot, but no one's sure yet.
If you were looking for true heroics instead of angst. If you wanted characterisation instead of soap opera. If you wanted to believe heroes could be victorious (not without struggle mind you). Then this was the book.
While Titans rehashes what's gone before, and Outsiders ignores continuity, The Legion confronts Ra's Al Ghul, a techno invasion, discovers a new universe, and discover that everyone in the galaxy still have a ot to learn.
While FF is my favorite team, The Legion has overall been the far superior book.
If you have the time and some cash, check this book out. Pick up Legion Lost, Legion Worlds, and then the current volume from #1. You won't be sorry.
And hopefully you'll be ready and hungry for more when/if the book reboots.
The final arc will be written by Gail Simone, who has given us fine work on Deadpool and Birds of Prey.
