What are LE #s 209 and 210?

SuperGENE
06/18/2004, 18:07
Must! get! Peter! Parker!

But really, he's a respectable LE. Clint Barton is definitely one of the best I have ever seen though. A definite gme breaker. The rest are eh.

And why does Sidewinder have phasing?

shock man x
06/18/2004, 18:07
Well well well. All that complaining about Callisto being a ranged figure and not having leadership and what do Wizkids have up their sleeves? A close combat monster Morlock leader. Awsome prizes. Peter Parker is great!!! Finally a spider-man with perplex.

Seth I don't know about. His dial is making me scratch my head. 15 defend? Are defenses really getting that bad where you would want to share a 15? I'll stick with the rokie.

Earthbound on an aquatic figure? Never saw that comming. :surprised

the Ultimate figs are awesome! I'm glad Wizkids finally got arround to making Parker and Logan LEs. Now if only they do a Steve Rogers LE this set will kick serious kiester.

You know if you pop off Callisto and replace her with a Marrow sculpt the dial represents her as leader of the morlocks too. Mabey that's why.

Callisto is great, but I wish they would have given her a less generic name

Earthbound changes the dolphin speed type into the boot speed type just like it changes the wing speed type with the boot speed type. The disadvantages with the wing to boot are just easier to see.

A Calisto who remembers how to use her knife? Triple incapacitate with a 10 attack? Spidey with Perplex? (Actually, aside from the 4 range I personally think this is the most accurate Spidey ever).

06/18/2004, 19:22
My guess, based on the other two Serpent LE's, is that Sidewinder's LE is supposed to be non-affiliated. Other than that, I know I'm going to be hitting up a bunch of tournaments to get me some of these LE's. So far, very happy with the Ultimate's LE's.

krusticlese
06/18/2004, 19:31
I think Sidewinder was given both the Serpant TA and phasing intentionally.

Bro Mags has been hinting around about a new power that will cancel team abilities. If one gets outwitted, he's got the other to fall back on.

As for Dr. Connors getting earthbound... have you ever seen a one-armed guy try to swim? :p :p

i'm going to go crazy to get a morlock leader. not only is this figure a close-combat monster as is, but with the morlocks team ability, her AV can be shot up even more. this figure will be on evry team i make.

WakandaMan
06/18/2004, 19:38
Wow. For the most part these LE's are far more accurate than the REVs. Why does Wizkids insist on doing that! Grr.

Also, why the heck does the Dr. Curt Conners have Outwit? Isn't he always a dumb brute, or did he ever get to be a "smart" lizard with Doc Conners brain? If it was on his first click, it would make more sense...Interesting about the Aquatic vs. Earthbound. Does the REV Lizard have Aquatic movement? If so, he should really have Earthbound as well. :ermm:

This Hawkeye looks to me like the most accurate one yet. Very nice, and I really want one.

That Sidewinder with Phasing is odd. Perhaps he actually doesn't have the Serpent TA much like the LE Anaconda, and this was just a misprint.

I am really shocked by these point costs. These LEs make me think that the formula has been changed even more. Take Spider-man: He has both front loaded Perplex and Incapacitate, both of which have always been insanely expensive, and yet he's only 71 points! Although I must agree that this is the most accurate Spidey to date. About time he was given Perplex! Now we just need some 6 range.

WakandaMan
06/18/2004, 19:43
Just checked out that Doc Ock LE, and man he is really really nice! So many good LEs...but I bet we get a bunch of Sentinel Captains here. Prize support in Australia really sucks. :(

Lex Luthor Jr
06/18/2004, 20:03
That's kinda strange. Hawkeye's move with Running shot is 7. I don't think I've ever seen an odd-numbered Running Shot value.

06/18/2004, 20:08
Who's Blanche Stizxnski? She looks like Sabretooth in drag.

Boneyard! Where are you?!

DiceShooter
06/18/2004, 20:45
Blanche is Anaconda...

Ok, so yay for finally a Spider-man with perplex, but look at the dial its attached to...compare that to the Vet from this set and I'll take his better stats for cheaper any day.

ACE44
06/18/2004, 21:08
Sidewinder has phasing because he's a teleporter.

boneyard
06/18/2004, 21:10
Blanche Stizxnski is Anaconda. (not sure on that last name spelling though...) my notes spell it "Sitznski"

Personally, I was hoping for some support on the Curt Conners dial. Dr. Curt was always giving Spidey an anti-venom for one thing or another back in the old days. Also a little disappointed to not see him "revert" back to Dr. Curt stats at the end of the dial - representing when Spider-Man eventually defeats and restores the good Doctor's humanity...
Oh well...

06/18/2004, 21:31
Here's my initial take on the goods:

Peter Parker- Really like, but I prefer the L/C, Super Strength, Willpower combo better. Although Wildcard the Ultimates TA and Incap someone in Stealth= Sweet!

Dr. Curtis Connors- Ehh. I just can't get over the 13 defense. 13! At least he is mobile Outwit.

Clint Barton- Holy Carp! RS & 11 attack and straight-up 3 damage? With 3 targets? Then RS with Incap and Ultimates TA? Then 4 damage with RCE and a 9 attack? Since I know my playing skills I'll just be getting gouged on Ebay I'm sure ;)

Morlock Leader- Flurry + BCF= Where's my Rookie Phoenix? Cheap cost plus Leadership plus more like the comic.

Blanche Stizxnski- Blah. Does nothing for me. There is the obvious grab a heavy object, get TK'ed out, and beat the heck out of your opponent while keeping them there with Plasticity thing though. Hmmm, on second thought, for 48 points I guess she's not too shabby.

Seth Voelker- A support piece that is extremely mobile, the Outwit is always useful. 38 points for Serpent Society TA is not bad either to hook up your Wildcards.

I don't know when I'll ever get to play any of these, so my opinion will probably change, but these are my initial impressions. Not that anyone cares, but I just had to get this out. The wife is tired of hearing my Heroclix talk :p

My initial thoughts, but two things dismissed it - Spiral has better stats and isn't really that many more points (better TA too)... and secondly, you can't get her and Clint unless you have multiple venues to play at. :O

I like Peter Parker, Morlock Leader (why not pair her WITH Sprial ;) ) and of course Clint Barton. It'd be nice to win a couple of those but since I believe the judge at my venue is training someone else to be a judge so that he can play, I'm thinking my chances will be somewhat diminished.

One advantage that the Morlock Leader has over Spiral is that she has a ranged attack. Sure she can only do one damage using it but at least it's there as a threat. She can also be carried.

So, I figure we have the greats of LE's...Peter Parker, Matt Murdock, James Howlett, Bruce Banner...al originals. So it's really not that hard to see who I'd like as a LE....just look at my name. Yeah, Why isn't Captain America a LE, he's one of the greats, if you want, screw Clint, he has a LE from the original set....give it to a figure that really deserves it.

Go CAP GO.

CooperMcP
06/19/2004, 00:31
yes, i too was hoping for a steve rogers LE after i saw peter parker. i wanted to see a cap with willpower, cuz honestly, where is it, wizkids? nobody in the entire universe deserves willpower more than captain america and NOBODY can argue that that isn't true. cap would fight like the black knight, limbless and all.

Prof. Aragorn
06/19/2004, 00:47
Cap isn't going to be an LE in this set because he is a rarity of 3-4-5. So far in Marvel, only LEs of grunts and low-level figures have been made. The only reason this changed in Unleashed because originally Harvey Dent was going to be made has the prize-like Cobblepot and since no one wants a Cobblepot...hey look Hal Jordan!

I think he's an upgrade over the R/E/V and Doc Ock fans who want one that's playable in restricted events will want him.

As for CCE w/Flurry-sadly no! :(

CCE requires assigning a power action and flurry is a close combat action

Don't get me wrong, I mean, all of the LE's look cool, and believe it or not, I'm happy to see a Peter Parker. I mean, he deserves it the most, WK finally gets it right after how many Marvel sets with a spidey? This goes for Wolverine too, and bezerker Wolvie doesn't count mainly because he was a mail-away.

Thunderbolts, I have seen Clint and in fact I own him in my CT set. This one is much better and all im saying is I am a gigantic Captain America fan who thinks that Cap take any hero in the marvel U (which isn't true but I like to think so. )

Ugh, just saw the LEs, immediately thought of the joys of using Spiral and Morlock Leader together, copying morlocks TA to help them both out. They'll hit more than not, and 4d6 damage stings. Worth the investment. With leadership and 2 launchers, might even get it off early.

Nice to see a Spider Man with perplex. Not a bad figure certainly.

Hawkeye... wow. I will own this figure.

Kinda funny that both Clint Baron's (CT and ULT) have triple incap, but not on their first clicks.

Peter Parker looks cool, but I'd rather use the V. Bout the same with Clint. Morlock Leader looks pretty good. Natasha is ok and I could see reasons to use her over the V. Doc Ock looks better, but the CT version still outclasses him.

And has anyone seen the LE Storm? Why does she have an activation click! Terrible.

I like how the vet. Hawkeye and Clint Barton give you two very similar figs that will have vastly different uses...use the Vet. if you want one BIG punch with RCE up front, use the LE if you want to take on several figs at once, spreading out your targets and incapping. Very cool.

On the Sidewinder le...there is one thing I can think of that Phasing does that the TA doesn't...extra protection from being captured. I can't imagine that's the reason he has it, but who knows.

Drat! Just won Wade Cole and traded for my Kendra Saunders - and here I thought I was done needing to get LE's for awhile.

Fantastic bunch here (and in the Units section).

Must gets:
Peter Parker - Incapacitate, Perplex, Willpower and Wildcard

Clint Barton - triple Inc w/ running shot

Curt Conners - expected support on first click but regenerating Outwit is pretty solid.

Morlock Leader - the best Callisto of the set bar none

Blanche Stizxnski - maybe not that much of an upgrade over the REV but I like the pushable dial

Seth Voelker - Outwit is solid but I really need that villain defend - granted 15 isn't steller and then you remember figs like Rhino and Absorbing Man. Plus - Amazo may have a new best friend when it comes to Support

Also - Natasha looks like my kinda fig. Willpower + dual Incapacitate and later on Enhancement. A great team player.

And Ororo Monroe - continues the trend of Storm figures without actual Weather Control. I mean is it really that crazy to have Incapacitate, Force Blast and Smoke Cloud to convey her Ice Cold, Fog, and Wind? Pulse Wave is interesting and might be worth a get if she is a flyer - but really - one of my top 10 fave characters from comics and my favorite X-man and still she's a lighting throwing fig only. Sigh.

Otto Octavius - a nice switch up. Won't replace his CT version until he's retired. Then he may be really fun to use.

Outside of Storm - a really nice job. Can't wait until August...

just my $00.02I was thinking it is probably a movie tie in as well.

Its weird to announce it so late, and have it be numbered past the normal LE numbers.
I wasn't thinking theater give away though. Probably some tie in with a magazine, maybe something outside the regular gaming community.

But I guess we'll have to wait and see for the official word.

The best LE out of this bounch is got to be Clint Barton. Triple incompacitate, running shot for a quick 3 damage with a good range of 8 to 12 w/ running shot added. How much does he move with running shot 3 or 4? He will be a game breaking LE that will be in some of the high prices and we will be seeing him in tourneys. I also love the Peter Parker. Finally, we now have him and with a resonable point cost. Good job Wizkids you finally made great LE's and for resonable point costs for each.

Peter Parker LE - Very nice first click, but too shallow of a dial. I still like the Vet for the better stats and deeper/longer dial.

Too bad they didn't just add 1 click of perplex to the Vet. It would have been the same cost (or cheaper) and much better.
