Cosmic Spidey?
So I've been reading around the boards, and keep noticing mentions of "Cosmic Spidey". What is this? I missed it in the books, but he sounds pretty badass. What's the deal?
|
Cosmic dude got screwed up and his powers went looking for someone worthy. Spidey was the most rightious dude. So, Spidey became the man for a few months. W/ Cosmic powers he whooped the Sinister 6, Syndicate, Hulk, and pretty much everyone else worth beating. If I remember correctly, it was about the time of some cross-over wars (my comics are in my Pops' attic, about 4 hrs away). He had Cosmic level powers. Unlimited Str. and Imperviousness, flight, enhanced Spidey Sense, unlimited cosmic webs, cosmic armor, etc..
Put the whoop down on the entire Marvel universe that was worth whoopin'. Of course, when the Cosmic scales righted themselves he was Pete again. Marvels way of making him badder than Supes for a few issues. But really, really cool, especially for a fan. |
It was during the Acts of Vengance.

Cosmic spidey ruled all.... He could kick the $hit out of anybody and he did and his suit ruled, I loved that suit even more then the black one. He should be at least 250 pts and he would lay the smack down on anybody in clix today... oh how I would love to have that fig....
|
He got those powers to fight the tri-sentinel, a super sentinel that was going to wipe out everything, he got to keep the powers so he could get used to them, but once the 3 headed dude was gone, he lost the powers. It was cool though.

does anyone know a link to see a pic of it?

Duckaholic, no Marvel Clix should be more points than Superman. Bar none. Not because I'm a Kryptonion fanboy, which I am. If you read JLA/Avengers, they discuss that the Marvel universe is bigger and cooler, but that the beings in DC are more powerful than in Marvel. They even went as far as to have Superman stop Thor's hammer (at a full charge) with one handst putting in my $.02 about Cosmic anybody being better than Superman.

Incidently, the explaination:
The Enigma force, a; ..well enigmatic.. force in the universe... tends to by the direction of fate and random chance, move from one individual to the next throughout the universe nexplicably. When one is under the sway of the Enigma force, they become "Captain Universe". This has happened to others in the past, but usually unpowered regular people, who end up being Captain universe for a short time then lose the powers after some great task is acomplished (in Spidey's case it was defeating the Tri-Sentinel that Loki brought to life) Then the Enigma force is gone in a pof, off to some distant world in another part of the universe. Two things I've always wondered... why does Captain Universe make so many appearances on earth? whenever we see him its here. and secondly.. Why is it we never see a Skrull Captain Univerese, or Shiar Captain Universe? or Kree for that matter? In the Overpower Card game, one of the first (if not THE first, can't remember...) 'any Character' cards was the Captain Universe Spdey. It was called "web-headed wizard" I have two. |
as far as what he looked like....
he looked like spiderman. I've seen drawings where the Captain univerese mask can be seen in the open nose-and-mouth part of the spiderrman costume... and then I realized 'hey! waitaminute! spidey doesn't have an open nose-and-mouth part of his mask!' Never was it explained... but yes, he looks just like he did before and after he got the powers (as rendered by john Romita if I remember correctly)..except he flew around and shot beams from his hands. (pretty cool) |

Aquaman's comments, that so often get taken out of context, are "From what he's seen, the Marvel Heroes aren't as powerful as the DC Heroes." Now most of Marvel's most powerful heroes (the Silver Surfer, Beta Ray Bill, Gladiator, Firelord, Quasar) were off world or Aquaman hadn't seen. He also said that the Marvel Heroes fought even harder then they did (Guess Marvel Clicks should naturally have Higher Stats then DC Clicks if we want to go by JLAvengers) which is why they were able to stalemate/defeat many JLA members. Finally about Superman catching Thor's hammer, it's been done before by other Marvel characters. Namely by the Destroyer, Count Neferia and Mangog. |
What kind of powers should Cosmic Spidey have?
Speed: Flight, Hypersonic Speed, Flurry Attack: Superstrength, Incapacitate Defense: Impervious (18 defense to start, Imp. all the way because of his Spidersense) Damage: 3 damage to start + CCE, Outwit on the last few clicks |
Cosmic Spidey appeared during the Acts of Vengeance storyrline (as mentioned). Peter Parker was zapped by a ray that he and a professor had developed to make him lose his powers, but instead it made him stronger (or so they thought). The ray interfered with the Enigma force and spidey was given the powers but not the explanation. He fought many foes including: Magneto, Graviton, Titania, the Brothers Grimm (who?), the Trapster, Goliath (Giant Man when he was bad) but the best fight was against the Hulk. He punched him into orbit with one punch. Hulk was just sitting up there, holding his breath. Unable to come down spidey could see him and jumped into space grabbed him and flew back to Earth. Hulk thought about continuing the fight but instead wisely just lept away. This is the best Spiderman issue I ever read, and the last issue that McFarlane did.
As a side note, after he lost his cosmic powers Spiderman had to fight all these foes at once (except for Hulk and Magneto)and defeated them without any Cosmic Powers. Guess that Outwit is pretty overpowered, huh? |
Pete is the best comix charachter ever.
Thanx, clandestine. (just kidding [sorta], but he really did explain one of the best stories ever)! Luvvit! |
The one correction to clandestine's post: Goliath was not the same as Giant Man. He was a former crook called the Smuggler who was treated with stolen Pym Particles and gained the ability to shift his size. He was actually stronger than Giant Man because he also had Ionic power (similar to Wonder Man). He retired the name Goliath when he became a member of the Thunderbolts, and now calls himself Atlas.

interesting
If they made a cosmis spidey, he would be a monster, but more in the Dr. Doom area, not the KC Supes area.
He would have flight, Super Strength, HSS Speed(he flew and attacked all the time in this mode) a range of 8, he would have Impervious to recreate his Spider-sense and enhanced toughness, and also he would have an insane DV, 18 or even 19. He was impossible to hit when he was Cosmic boy since his sesnses were hightened. He would be a beast, 10 or 11 clicks, and I am not sure how much he would drop in stats, I mean, he was barely ever touched or harmed with these powers. It took a magical Sentinel to even challenge him. I think this clix would really be boring to play, since he would be so strong it would take no skill to play him, and this form of Spidey is not true to what the character is really based on anyway. But, who knows, they will run out of other versions of him soon. |
