I thought I came if 4th, because I drew the fourth prize (unsure of Archie's point totals). It was great seeing so many people show for this (40 plus). I wish I knew how many people signed up, but I recall being 44th when I showed up about fifteen minutes before everything started.
For clarification, I went 1-2 in the Finals round robin like Archie did.
Overall I was 6-3 for the day (lost 1st qualifying attempt), which is pretty much the usual W/L ratio for me on any given day (66.67%)
The team I qualified with (in re-flight):
Magneto
Psylocke
Roulette
My Constructed 'Martial Artist' theme team for Semi-finals and finals:
HoT Captain America
Nightcrawler
The Question
Iron Fist
League Elite
I had the most fun playing against Juggernaut in semi-finals, so that when I knocked off his "Mystical Helmet," I kept thinking of the internet video: "I got this in fourth grade, OH NOOO!!"
I went home with a colossal Dark Phoenix.
EDIT: I was so thankful for the good times had there, getting to talk about the new set, upcoming sets, Nextwave, etc. Having a qualifying match where my opponent was fielding Professor X (Xavier v. Erik!) was too sweet. I wish I had the time to get more trading done, but there's always the realms. I'm also thankful for the fellow heroclix players that were rooting for me or just had a good time watching the games played.
I've never been to an event this big before, but now I'm looking forward to similar type of events in the future, even if they're not necessarily in Texas. Congrats to spawn10, because he deserved it.

After a very FUN and exhausting trip, I am able to gather my thoughts somewhat. I will post my tournament report later on, but first let me say this was an AMAZING event. For those of you who do not go to these events for fear of the "competitive people" or whatnot (apathy), I will be one to say that Heroclix players are a different breed, unlike some of the card gamers (ie, Magic, YGO). People are just so nice and just love to play the game and will not let over-competitiveness ruin the fun. For such a high-level event, I was so happy to see graciousness all-around, nobody pouting, and smiles everywhere. Sometimes I couldn't tell who lost!
Ahmed, I cannot thank you enough for running an event like this. We need more tournament organizers like yourself, and I will be following in your footsteps and running a similar event here in California very soon. We need people to take initiative and put together events like this as it brings whole Heroclix communities together in person instead of just posting back and forth behind a computer (lol). I for one, just love the game and the community so much that I will go to any event like this to show my support and love for this game, and to show Wizkids that there can be and should be a high-level program in place and that people will travel great distances to play. Ahmed put in much time, money, and effort in running this event, and it ran smoothly. From the Sealed Qualifiers, Grab Bag tournament, Battle Royales, raffles, there was not much more you could ask for (well maybe some help in the prizing from Wizkids!). The Judge staff from Austin did an excellent job in getting things rolling pretty fast and smooth. Mike, Mark, and Kevin are some of the best Judges I've seen and you guys are lucky to have them. They had everything running like clockwork, not having much "lag" time between flights, rounds, events, and being on top of rulings.
As for the players, all I can say is you all are the epitome of "Southern Hospitality." I haven't had such a great time at a high-level event like this in years, and that is because the people in Texas are great (not like us pretentious Californians, haha). I never once felt like I was an outsider (being from Cali and all). The one thing that stood out to me was that nobody was complaining about "cheese" once. I don't think I heard the word once, except for when you wanted it added it to your burger (hehe). I also did not hear any mumblings on "dupes" being used. This is great as everyone understood that in high-level tournaments there is no cheese, just good teams and that you cannot put a self-restriction on yourself in these kinds of competition. All in all, a great event and it was worth all the time spent driving and all the money spent on gas(!) as I met some really great people, who I know I will see again and keep in contact with.

P.S. - does anyone have the scoresheets? I would like to do a breakdown and analysis of the metagame for my website (I have done the same from the Emerald City Comic Con event). I was supposed to get it from Ahmed, but I forgot.
Notes from iPhone I took at Texas showdown.

Played Paul Wagner (pumawag on hcrealms) first game on krakoa map. He had#
Syrin
Mystique
Tabitha Smith
Omega Prime Sentinal
He kills my hellfire guard and roulette I take syrin krakoa kills his mystique. Monica and Emma take care of the rest. It was a good game but some mental mistakes and krakoa , pumawag #unfortunately pulls defeat from the clutches of victory.#
Record 1-0
Round 2 played Steve Shelton (sshelt0n on hcrealms). He fielded#
Cypher
Domino
Wolverine (not death)
Gidion
I won map roll and chose krakoa again. He pushed cypher onto perplex but wouldn't come out for krakoa. A stream of krakoa rolls of 4 were hurting us both but got cypher to his last click and gidion got bold and came out to play. He pushed and missed his attack. I miss my attacks on him and krakoa rolls crit hit. Puts him on outwit so he based Monica with cypher and outwit from gidion keeps her held down. I have to manuver to block domino prob and running shot psychic blast with Emma to ko gidion. HSS returns to Monica and I hit domino and run away for cover. He heals domino via wolverine. HSS her again and kill her Emma running shots wolverine and hellfire club guard rolls a 9 to ko wolverine. By this time krakoa is doing nothing for either of us. Cypher moves to base Emma and hellfire. I clear he pushed to ko hellfire koing himself.
Record 2-0
Semi-finals

Round 2
Didn't keep track of teams to much. His last 2 pieces were Hyde and Spiderman and so were mine. Krakoa map again! This time he took spiderman and krakoa took his. Hydes toughness helps from the earthquake. I was on next to last click and he had one more life than I did. Krakoa rolls a 6 so it attacks his piece and I win.#
Record 2-0
Played Dr. Zero in third game. Krakoa again! Starting to hate this map. I won a hood fight and krakoa was MVP.#
Record 3-0
Tournament finished with me in first 3-0 and Elliot in 2nd 3-0. I had points edge. I challenged him for sole possession of 1st. Prize for 1st was set of GSX LE's. Let's just say he spanked me! 2nd place was power cosmic Doom and I let him keep it too. Congratulations Elliot
Record 3-1
Thanks to all the players that showed up and to Ahmed (mego1 on hcrealms) for holding event.#
End result I was 5-3 and played every game on krakoa map. I like the way the map is set up but the earthquake part of it is the killer of my teams.#
Don't forget comicpalooza will be memorial day weekend at the George R. Brown convention center in Houston. I will be hosting an unofficial Heroclix tournament all 3 days.#
Stryfe MVP of my team
Roulette
Psylocke
Elsa Bloodstone
1st team I played against consist of:
Cyclops
Emma Frost
Caliban
The map we played on was Madripoor lowtown.
The day started out slowly like a stale-mate. In the first match, I left Roulette out in the open and my opponet used Cyclops with Running Shot and this took Roulette out on the first shot. With Cylcops in the open, I used Stryfe and hit for three. I based him with Psylocke and ended my turn. He used Emma Frost with Running Shot and missed. He then charged in with Caliban and missed. For my turn I pushed with Stryfe and hit Cyclops for three and then hit with Psylocke to knock-out Cyclops. I then outwitted Caliban C/R and charged in and hit with Bloodstone for three and ended my turn. My oponate passed on his turn. I too passed. On his turn he used Emma Frost with Running Shot and hit for three on Psylocke but missed with Caliban again.
I TK Psylocke to Emma Frost and based her. I made quick work of her. Strype outwitted Caliban's Impervious and also made quick work of him to end the match.
It was neck and neck at first but good rolls aided me to win the match!
SECOND MATCH
My opponent played
Cyclops
Elixir
Tarot
Mystique
The same map as first match
I don't remember everything about this match. His first big move was smashing Bloodstone for four. I TK Psylocke next to Cyclops with Stryfe and hit for Six!! Next turn he rolls break away and runs back to get healed by Elixir to end his turn. I push Stryfe and TK Psylocke into Hindering Terrian next to Mystique and made quick work of her and then ended my turn.
My opponent heals Cyclops to full health, we run around until time ends. I win by points. This was a tough match.
Went 2-0 in sealed
My Constructed team was
Cable Le
Psylocke
Nightcrawler
My opponents team contained:
Captian America
Spider girl SI
Jarvis
Scarlet Witch
Ironfist
Map was The Island!
First turn I sent NC to attack Ironfist hit for two and set him next Pylocke. Attack with Cable from RCE for five to take to out ironfist.
The Island was in his favor at first but in the end it cost him Captian America and Spider-girl. After they where gone I made quick play of Jarvis and Scarlet witch to end the match. Good hard tough match at first till the Island had it's way in the end.
SECOND MATCH
My opponents team
Shazam!
Bullseye
Holiday killer
Map Madripoor lowtown
My oppenent started off by Shazam smashing my Cable for like Seven! not much i can say after this. My first lose of the day.
THIRD MATCH
My opponent team
Magneto
Hellfire Club guard x3
NC was my MVP of this match. I pick one by one his Hellfire guards off to when this match.
Went 2-1 in the finals to finish 4-1 overall i think i finished 6th.
Would like to thank mego1 and his staff for hosting such an AMAZING event. I can't say enough about this event and these guys. Thank you for an AWESOME experience!!!
Plotdevicelad i was pulling for you to take 1st. What was it 3 or 4 crit misses hurt you in the end. You played well and congrats on your top four.
And last but not least to the Champ Spawn10 congrats on you victory!
P.S. meet some really cool cats Stepper79, DrZero and a few others.
In the first flight, my team was Emma Frost, Elsa Bloodstone, Domino, and the Omega Prime Sentinel. Since the OPS was the only one with super strength I only used one heavy object, and named the team "Women and Refrigerator." Apparently the gods hate puns that bad, because my opponent's team of Angel, Elsa Bloodstone, Mystique and Storm absolutely shredded me - I could barely make a successful roll during that round, a handicap that my opponent most assuredly did not share. The most notable example was in round 3, when Domino, the OPS and Elsa all tried to land a hit on his Elsa: I missed the first two attacks, and after rolling doubles on Elsa's attack, I got a whopping 1 on the BCF roll. Which freed his Elsa up to switch to ranged attacks. It was painful.
In the reflight I started off strong with my "Gentleman Prefers Blondes" team (Professor X, Emma Frost, Elixir and Roulette). Although Roulette was getting hit and Emma was taking pushing damage, Elixir made enough successful support rolls while adjacent to the both of them that they kept bouncing back to their starting clicks, while Xavier sat back on the boat and sniped (as well as shut down various characters' powers). Wolverine, the Mindless One, Empath and Tarot all fell without my losing anyone. Then in round 2 I went up against PlotDeviceLad's Magneto/Domino/Roulette team. Perhaps if I had chosen Archangel instead of Emma it would have gone differently, but such is life.
Was good meeting everybody, and here's hoping we all see each other at Texas Showdown 2!

Thanks, bud.
The dice started getting cold on me in the finals, and the opposing PC's didn't help in the two games I lost. I rolled 2 Crit. misses with Nightcrawler when playing Archie and 3 Crit. Misses in the final game against Dave. Getting anything above a 5 was a miracle during the last game.
