Overlooked Teen Mutants
I've always liked the New Mutants.

It's not because they were awesomely powerful or because I looked up to them. It's because they were very human: flawed characters who had one or two good things going for them. It made stories interesting when each character only had one moderately-developed power and didn't know how to use it very well. This carried into an appreciation for all the other junior X-teams.

I've often thought that they should make more clix from some of the characters who have been featured prominently in Marvel comics since the early 80s and have developed into some heavy hitters. Some have been attempted, others ignored entirely (for now). GSX was great with its remake of Cannonball, Cypher (go figure!), Boom Boom, and others.

Here are a few ideas I've been playing with for you all, the community, to take a look at and review.

Speed - Stepping Discs: Magik ignores characters and terrain for movement purposes and can carry up to two friendly characters. Give Magik a power action: place adjacent character or object anywhere on the map within range of her movement value.
Attack - Soulsword: Magik can use Blades. Damage dealt is penetrating damage if the target possesses the Mystical, Deity, or Psychic keywords.
Defense - Mistress of Limbo: Magik can use Super Senses, Mastermind, and ESD.

Rusty & Skids When adjacent to a character named Skids, Rusty Collins modifies his attack value by +2 and can use Toughness.

This one is meant to be a weaker Pyro with limited utility outside of themed use or being paired with Skids, which makes them a fairly potent duo. The trait is meant to allow for him to make up for her inability to play an offensive role and also to give him some trait damage reduction to keep him on the board and allow the player to choose to give impervious to another figure with Skids, maintaining her utility.

Damage - Technopath: Wizkid can use Perplex, but can only target himself. When using Perplex he may either modify any one combat value by +2 or use it normally to modify two different combat values by +1
TRAIT: Give Wizkid a free action to remove an object from the game if he occupies the same square as the object. Choose any standard attack or defense power. Wizkid can use that power until the end of your next turn.

I thought of an option with him using an object to be able to use Perplex an additional time as a free action, but I'm trying to give players a reason to play him as well as make it comic accurate. I don't think he should be able to grab HSS, Outwit, or Prob as it might make him a little too powerful. The last click represents his wheelchair being damaged and his machinery being left in a weakened state.

Holographic Coordination Artie Maddicks can use Perplex
Best Friends When adjacent to a character named Leech, both characters modify their defense values by +1

How do you represent a telepathic kid who communicates by projecting holograms? He is always depicted as being very hard to catch or harm because of his abilities and I think this dial complements the GSX Leech very well and makes for a very resilient support piece.

I know you tried to balance the cost with her low offense stats, but I still think Skids is over powered.

I like that you're doing these though. There are so many others too. Rusty, Artie, Generation X, Young/New X-men, and X Statix. Not to mention the Initiative (Although they're not really all mutants)
My digital sculpts of unmade characters.

Magik may be the most accurately-costed figure here. The rest are drastically undercosted, especially Skids. Three characters get Impervious for a 51 point character? PLUS Defend? As a rule, if you can't afford not to have a character on your team, they're overpowered.

Thanks, I do agree on Skids. I'm trying to think of a way to balance her without the force field power requiring an action token.

Is there a formula somewhere? I was honestly just throwing numbers out on her cost. With the prevalence of outwit and PB I'm not sure of the right way to work it to make it still feel both balanced and useful.

I've been thinking of taking her damage down to zero for all but one click to represent her pacifism.

Magik might be a bit broken, too. If she can pop up right next to you and teleport you anywhere within 12 squares immediately, with indomitable, that may be too much. Would her power work on GSX Blob?

I modified her Soulsword SP to be more comic-accurate. She did damage to other mystical creatures more so than to ordinary people.

MUCH better. Skids is still a little worrisome, just imagining certain characters with Impervious, but her cost is much more balanced. The rest seem balanced and accurate. GJ.
