The problem I have with it is that it completely removes the elements of creativity and player choice(not that you see much of those things at the upper levels of the game, but I digress...). It also wouldn't fix the problem of homogenized gameplay/teams. In fact, it would actually make the problem worse.
I don't think that creativity is a word that has ever really been associated with Worlds play (with certain exceptions).

As for homogeneity, you're not really ever going to fix that unless you revamp the system anyway.

In the end, it is just a shame (IMO) that what is supposed to be the pinnacle of HeroClix play encompasses about 1/100th of what HeroClix is.

I'd also say that, while it accurately displays/illustrates the OBJECTIVE of the game (well, the point of ANY game, really), Worlds play doesn't really illustrate/display the SPIRIT of the game.

But, meh...that's a discussion for another thread.

I totally agree. Unfortunately, I don't think that's a problem that is ever going to be completely fixed.

I do however think that it could be mitigated somewhat by either the split sealed/constructed team format or by a shift in dial design philosophy away from the Superman style of play(HSS and/or high base damage) towards a more balanced strategic style of play, as represented by some of the post-WoS Marvel sets.

I'd like to say I prefer sealed to constructed because it "tests a true player" but it just isn't true. Yeah, there's some element of that, but in a lot of sealed events you can be made or broken by the figs you pull, and that level of randomness shouldn't screw someone over in Worlds. I also think the metagame has improved since the introduction of the gauntlet since there are a ton of teams that can be good now with it, not just the standard op figs. So yea, I'd definitely prefer maybe a sealed to qualify and then constructed for the rest.

I thought my Squirrel Blender was pretty creative. Had a chance to win to if it hadn't been for Ghost Widow. I hate Ghost Widow.
