As the local judge, I can say we only recieved 1 of each Con exclusive for the Supremacy League.
Those figures will be split between 20 players... so what do I tell the other 16? As the judge, I get nothing. Doesn't seem so "widely available" to me.
Not an attack, just a reality.
PS: I am paying out of my pocket for each months Infinity Gauntlet prize kit and each sets prize kit. So I can honestly say that WizKids is really pissing me off... to the point I might stop judging or ask players to help cover costs.
"Origins is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize but don’t worry this figure will also be available at GenCon. For those not attending the conventions, another way to get this figure will be announced by the end of the year."
The above is a direct quote from the articles last year about convention figures. I don't see the word "widely" in it anywhere and I checked all of the articles. It says it will be made available another way which is what happened because any player could play in HCO or could play in a Supremacy League. Both of those are easier to do than go to GenCon or Origins.
This is a collectable game which means the pieces are not all of equal rarity and it has been this way since day one. Lots of players don't have the Bruce Banner LE or Victor Creed LE from Infinity Challenge. I had to trade for both of them. I never pulled a Marvel Zombie or an Origin chase figure. I had to trade for all of them. In a collectable game, items will be hard to get. Convention LEs are no different than chases in that respect.
As for paying for you prize support, I pay for the prize support at my store because my store owner won't pay for it. My store owner doesn't understand that by having prize support, players will buy more product in a store. I can tell you that I make HeroClix purchases at other stores and online because of his refusal to pay for prize support so in the end he is only hurting his store. I do know of many store owners who buy the prize support so they can hold tourneys so it's not WizKids fault that my store owner and your store owner are short-sighted.
I like this piece. A creative dial, a decent sculpt, and a trait/keyword combo that elevates Horsemen? Yes please. Just got my first of the three convention exclusive Horsemen the other day (could only justify it since it was the price of a couple of boosters), so I'm that much closer to fielding and army of En Sabah Nur's Horsemen.
Not removing this line from my signature until we get Killer Moth (12/17/12).
Missing IC Remakes: Whirlwind, Constrictor, Controller, Boomerang, Blizzard, Puppet Master
Did any venues ever receive their Con LE packs in late 2011 (Moonstone, WW, Horsemen), as originally announced?
Standard base (1x1).
They were available with the Supremacy League kit, as stated earlier in the thread. You had to buy this big heavy board and the figs came with. It cost retailers around $85? And you didn't get spares. 1 of each. But a league could last several nights, requiring players to challenge those with a higher rank and fight their way up the ladder. The idea was that you would have plenty of time to try and up your ranking.
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw this guy become available in the next 'Season' of Supremacy League.
And by the way? Because of the League, the secondary market price for these figures got cut in half. So be nice. Wizkids is trying.
Looks like a great figure but given the very small amount of these exclusive figures that ever filter down into the small UK tournament scene, I'll probably never even see one of these, never mind own one. Dissapointed in wizkids making these con exclusives so hard to get hold of for the majority of players.
dang my roommate is so pumped for this. i don't think he realizes that he'll have to pay a huge chunk just to get him and he does not even have anything big worth trading (his 'best' pieces are GSX Apoc and LE Archangle)
Favorite Comics:
Simonson's Thor, Robinson's Starman, Mignola's Hellboy, Lemire's Animal Man
Brubaker's Captain America, Gillen's Thor/Journey into Mystery, Remender's Venom Check Out My Custom Heroclix Mods
The Horsemen were made available in an HCO tourney and to each store through the Supremacy League. So they were widely available to everyone.
This word you say. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Seriously, I'm very near the breaking point. Basically, it's boiling down to:
1. Shell out a bunch of money to travel to a convention and spend all your time in line for the off-chance you might play in a HeroClix tournament and win/get 2nd to get the prize.
2. Shell out a bunch of money to get virtual duplicates of your actual figures to play online in a tournament and maybe win a prize.
3. Have your store shell out a bunch of money for a special tournament pack that only has 1 of each figure (as opposed to even fellowship and/or judge rewards).
This is, blatantly, stupid and insulting. I don't mind figures being hard to get. But nigh-impossible is more than a little irritating.

I know what "widely" means. It does not mean that everyone that wants one will get one. It means that the majority of players will have a chance at one. With the HCO tourney and the Supremacy league, the majority of players had a chance at this figure. I want the Masterpiece figures and I have none of them but there were "widely" available because players had the choice to go to events to try to get them. I was unsuccessful in getting them but I had a chance. That is all that I can ask for from a collectible game. You have a completely different opinion and that's fine but my opinion is not stupid and insulting just because it is different from yours.

To clarify. Your opinion is not stupid or insulting, and I apologize for my post sounding like it was attacking you.
However, WizKids behavior is blatantly stupid and insulting to me. And I would disagree with your premise of what widely available means, since I had very few opportunities to play for and win LEs at the Charlie Fox that was Heroclix at Gencon.
