Mind boggling-up, thinking about this Duo and the "Split/Merge", especially after the reveal of the Giant-Man/Ant-Man con exclusive and the potential use of the "Swap" mechanics for any Dr. Hank Pym identity.

i agree it doesn't take long for people to abuse a simple rule concept like, "duo" being split into more than two
some jerk is gonna try and flood the field with a boat load of 19 pt. universe- wasps or how about 6pt janet pym bystander tokens, gimme a break
-this guy always gets it *chalesdward
Right, except the description in the article explicitly states that you can only split into one (or none) character from each column that will be provided. So unless there's ten columns each with a Univ. Wasp option, no ten Wasps.
The "more than two" splitting will, of course, only apply to trios and any other splittable piece that's more than just a duo.
It's really not as complicated or abusable of a concept as people are making it out to be.

are you sure? just read the whole thing and:
This ability can’t be countered. Again, simple enough. Something that may not be obvious is that you can use the Split ability to split a duo figure into only one figure, points permitting, but that lone figure won’t be able to use the Merge ability. Also, points permitting, you can Split into more than two figures.

Yes, because of the very second sentence in the description of Split: "Replace this character with one or more qualifying characters each from a different entry listed on this character’s character card."
[But this of course assumes an exclusive use of "OR" for the row of Qualifying Name OR Qualifying Real Name. So, if "Ant Man or Hank Pym" is considered a single entry on the duo character's card (and I would assume it is), then only one Ant Man OR Hank Pym. That is to say, EACH ROW on the duo card is a separate entry. Now, if "Qualifying Name OR Qualifying Real Name" are to considered to be two separate entries (but this would be completely unintuitive and would be a senseless move for the designers to make), then one could split Ant Man and Wasp duo into one Ant Man, one Wasp, one Hank Pym, and one Janet Van Dyne. But again, this seems to be a clearly un-intended way to read the rules and I'm sure this is not what the official rule means.]

The only question I do have, that I don't think has been answered, is whether or not this ability can be used to pull in single figures that are outdated and not currently legal. It would be neat if it could, though I could also see it restricting your splits to other legal qualifying figures.

somebody already HAS that LE.
curiously, I had a poke about the units section as knew there was something off about this LE. whilst wasp's sculpt does appear to be original (at least it doesn't match the previous wasp sculpts, but ant-man here is purely supernova scuplt. :/
just been overlooking that trait.. currently there doesn't appear to be a wasp and ant-man dial combo that's more than or equal to the duo.. 81 pts (vet Supernova ant) and 49 (ult wasp) at 130 pts dead on is the most I can make with 2 individual figs. just hope the mini ant-man in the giant man box is a hockey-puck update.

Secret Invasion Yellow Jacket is 100 points.
Fantastic Forces Yellowjacket maxes out at 144 for the Vet.
Why wouldn't you be able to do that with Yellowjacket? His real name? Hank Pym. That covers a requirement on the duo figure, at least in the case of the SI piece.

He doesn't have a card (the FF Yellowjacket I mean). Will you be able to use the "Real Name" for figures without cards? I wouldn't think you would be able to do that.
