No - The Avengers/Brotherhood/JLA Team Ability Should Remain As Is
It could change. It's a holdover from the old days (Mage Knight) where 300 pts got you 10 figures and having Free move (quickness) was the best way to move everyone out fast. Then HC got it as a TA, and then it was nice... but now in a day where average character is 100 pts, it's wasted pts
Look at Wolverine...his original IC V was 75 Pts... now he comes in around 105... 75 is almost generic level! (yet 300 is STILL the "official build")
Ill agree in alot of smaller formats it is not nearly as useful.
However, I play alot of large point home games, like 1500 to 2000 point teams. We take the build total and halve it than add 1 so in a 1500pt game you 9 actions or so.
In these games those free move actions come in handy very much. Being able to move my Rookie Destiny for free to get her into position to see my attackers helps alot haha.
So your saying when you play a game that doesn't have the standard # of moves it actully becomes useful. If you have to create a senario where it becomes useful then I would say in needs a change.
I'll repost my statement from the last thread I saw on this issue:

I think the free move TAs work well as is. I've gotten a lot of use out of them with JLA teams, and Avengers have even more cheap options. It's not very hard to have 6-7 characters on a 400 point team, which makes it really helpful in deployment and repositioning. Sure, it's not Mystics, but it's not supposed to be. What I'd like to see is just a little more intelligence in design. E.g, don't give those TAs to characters like Thor and Superman.
Also, I'd like it if they changed Brotherhood to something else entirely, for variety. (Also because they don't have as many options for figures as the Big Two, so it's slightly harder to get mileage out of the TA.) Change Injustice League to something useful and make Brotherhood mirror that?
Wizkids needs to make cheaper Avengers and JLA units so the team ability is actually useful. You really need 5 or 6 models on the field to make the team ability have a noticeable impact on the game. We're running around with characters that start at 100 points and typically cost upwards of 130. Very hard to get your mileage out of the team ability when you only have 2 or 3 figures on the board.
i never understood why HYDRA and SHIELD got the "bonus to range" TAs while AVENGERS and BROTHERHOOD got the "moving is not an action" TAs, that is more usefull to swarm teams...
I would gladly swap those, making Brotherhood lowering defense (or even something along morlocks idea) and making Avengers enhancing range and damage... While Hydra and Shield would get the "moving is not an action" that is usefull to swarms !
But of course, that would mean revise the cost of some figures...
I voted no, but we do need some cheaper JLA figures. I'm not asking for a redesign of an entire team ability. Remember Origins? There was a Superman in that set for less than 100 points and he was great! Sure, he had no charge or hypersonic, but in most of the games I played him in, he didn't need it. Young Superman from the Legion boxed set was also a great choice. Those are just two examples of how to do a cheap Superman. We almost have a cheap wonder woman, still topping 100 barely for most of them. There have been great batmen for under 100. My personal fav is the starter from Icons. He's incredibly cheap and is almost as good as the Exp Icons figure minus the incap.
Never Underestimate a Skrull Swarm with a wild dice throw!
I don't believe Avengers or brotherhood need to change but JLA... honestly I have never used it do to the low amount of figures I seem to always have in JLA theme teams.
I rarely play games less than 400 pts b/c I only get to play once a week & I want to play as many characters as possible. So these TA's are almost useless to me.
I don't have any suggestions for the other 2, but for Avengers, how about this: Avengers Assemble! When a character with the Avengers TA ends a move action in a square adjacent to another character with the Avengers TA, do not give an action token to this character.
I agree that they could use an upgrade, but I have no idea what could be given to it, since it doesn't seem to cost a large amount of points. Personally, I'd like it to give +1 Defense when two figures with the TA are adjacent to each other, but that is probably a better ability then the point cost currently reflects (and would therefore be a "fanboy-ish" response).
I will say that, for a game supposedly still based on 300-point battles, responses that the TAs are useful in 400 point games, 500 point games, or "1500 half-actions plus one" games are moot points; if these TAs are basic game elements that have been around from the start of a game based on a 300-point system, why should they have the most use in games over the suggested point limit?
I do agree with those that say, unchanged, this ability seems to purely be point bloat on figures 150 points or more, and possibly on figures over 100 points, as it's not required since Theme Teams (and ATAs now) are based on Keywords, not TAs.
Another possible suggestion for change -
I'm not as sure about Brotherhood, but often it seems that Avengers/JLA teams tend to elevate the abilities of the less-powerful characters. Along those lines:
When two or more characters with this TA are adjacent, the character with the lowest point value gets +1 Defense/Super Senses but only on a 6/+1 Attack or maybe give the entire team one "free" Leadership roll per turn so long as at least two figures with the TA are adjacent at the start of the turn.
I would like to think that these abilities are not "too fanboy-ish" as they require multiple characters for the use of the ability. If I wanted to give a "fanboy" answer, I would suggest a reverse-Mastermind ability, where damage dealt to lesser point characters could be moved to higher-point characters... because that would be a cheap ability...
Ah well, that response was longer than I figured it would be... thanks for reading!
A new SR Power Girl in 2013 please! WizKids, ask me for ideas!
