I really dislike that there isn't a fellowship prize for this event.
Our group was fortunate enough to be able to get two prize kits. The first kit goes to the judge and winner of month 8. The second kit goes to the winner of our over all tournament for the entire IG run and fellowship; to be voted on by players.

That's pretty cool! Wish my store was that lucky.

But at the very least you get the terexia figure for just showing up!
How much would it cost for Wizkids to throw a different dial on the terexia model and give that away as fellowship? Something, anything is better than nothing.
I'll have to suggest the idea of handing out a single-figure box to my FLGS owner. Good thinking!

It really encourages all the competitive Win-At-All-Costs players to come out of the wood works and play like rules lawyering arses.

Isnt that the point of competitive play and tournaments? you can play fun theme teams elsewhere, tournaments are tournaments, stop trying to mix things and stop dissing players who want to win.

I agree, and think you're completely right. But,
Did you bring an asbestos suit? Because on this board, comments like that get you flamed!

I'll agree. But the word "tournament" is just thrown upon us. Sure, there are winners and losers, but lots of venues are a group of players together wanting to play for fun. Winning and losing doesn't matter to them. But they follow the structure that is given to them, which is "tournament" format.
They just wanna have fun. Getting steamrolled by an "outsider's" min/max team isn't their idea of fun. That's where the disconnect happens.

If you have the kind of venue you describe, why order prize kits or participate in the IG series at all? Seems to me all that would result would be you alienating new people that don't fit into your desired venue composition. If you didn't have prizes, those people wouldn't come.

Don't worry, I'll use the flames to heat up my cup ramen

I know what you mean, and I also agree with you, but a lot of people forget to see the other side of the coin, there's a lot of people who have fun playing competitively, trying to figure out how to beat a strong team with your own competitive team is what I like most about this game.
Thankfully in my LCGS we can agree beforehand on playing fun/competitive, and we never had a problem or players insulting other players, or calling teams cheesy, which seems to be the normal stuff around here, really it makes me a little sick seeing the community so split up.
As for the people playing on Month 8 for fun, just don't, all other months from 1 to 7 could be played and won with fun teams, but the last month playing for the ultimate prize which there's only 1 most of the time to give away? What do you expect? the event is a constructed event, its obvious that people are going to pull all the stops and give their best on team building. I bet that there's going to be people playing fun teams who will cry cheese after losing on month 8, blaming the other player instead of themselves.
i dont think colossals should be allowed because using them would for the most part put you at a large advantage against most others, yet a large portion of the people playing the game just straight up dont have enough money to purchase or acquire them. this, imo is unreasonably unfair. You cant just accidentally open a booster with a colossal in it like you can the rest of the figures from the set. This sets apart a group of clix players in a way that has nothing to do with skill, talent, or anything and just divides them by their ability to spend money.
So i feel like it would be a nice thing to not allow in the event. Like it or not the colossals are an investment not everyone can make and i dont see the big deal in leaving them out.
I dont feel thanos should be allowed because i am a highly themey player at heart and i cant wrap my head around playing an event where you goal is to win thanos, while using thanos to do so.
i think those are both fair and reasonable arguments.
You are talking about a collectable game. How do you justify penalizing player/collectors just because somebody else does not have what someone else does??? Many who play this game have a higher IQ than I do-how do we limit them??? "Fair" is fair after all. Hero-clix is an expensive hobby, people should know that going in. I am a huge opponent of negative liberties when everyone played by the rules.

I agree. You're basically just making your own scheme of rules for regulars to win prizes.

Because they want the pieces.
And the only people it would alienate would be the ones that are there just for the prize anyways. Gatherings of people are social interactions. If you don't have the social skills or ability to adapt to the situation you're in, why are you there?
If they're only there for the prizes, the players wouldn't want them anyways. So it's to means to the same end.

I don't see how, but whatever. You're mind is set. How is this favoring the regulars? Where is there a set rule that helps regulars win the prizes? If others came in and built within the atmosphere of the venue, then they have an equal chance to win. There is no fundamental change to the game that favors anybody. Each person has to play the game out. Some guys need to constantly play Metron to win, while others like to mix their teams up. This helps the ones that mix their teams up have fun.
If you come into a venue of guys that have been playing and have a mutual understanding of what they want from the game, and you're just there for the prize and have no regard for the social part of the game, you're a douche bag.
Find a venue that fits your play style, or as lots of the uber competitive people on here like to say to the casual guys, "stay home."
My venue has different skill levels, and everybody has fun. But somebody has to stick up for the guys that "just wanna have fun."
EDIT: And since when has the phrase "theme teams" turned into crappy teams? That's the vibe I'm beginning to get from these arguments. You can still be extremely competitive by playing theme teams. Avengers and Justice League pieces aren't terrible.
