I think they should make a Batman with 0 range, but with a Special Power "Batarangs" that gives him like a 4 Range with 3 bolts. In the comics he always has 3 batarangs in between his fingers right before he throws them so that's how he gets 3 bolts. He should have Running Shot and Incapacitate too while he has this power. The rest of the dial should have Perplex and outwit or some type up Exploit W. And then that would be the perfect Batman!
Huh? Icons Batman is trash for the points after even a minor hit...You be trollin'. This Batman is great, but I think I will prefer the DKR versions personally.
this batman is worse than the Icons. At least Icons keeps outwit longer, has a higher attack and lives longer for basically the same points. For a set named "Justice League" he doesnt even have the team symbol. I am a huge DC fanboy but Marvel's heroclix own DC's. Im a very disappointed.
V Icons Batman doesnt have a higher attack. They tie at 11. In fact he is worse in every way besides Range and more outwit. His attack dips low as 7 with a 14 Defense actually, so that extra 1 click of life he has? Pretty worthless. Also he doesnt have the Batman TA so a solid hit he is a stealthless Batman. Indomitable + Defense Traits are superior to Willpower anyday. Sorry. If you adore Icons Batman no problem. But he isnt even "good" by todays figures let alone better than this one.
This is everything I was hoping to have in a Batman, right down to a sculpt that I really enjoy. To list out him vs Icons Batman:
Icons Batman Pros: 1 click of life more, 3 range longer, front loaded incap, keeps outwit longer, more clix of 3 damage.
JL Batman Pros: 3 extra clix of Toughness works out to actually having a longer dial most of the time, harder to hit defense powers and numbers, indomitable, better overall attack numbers, better mobility due to full dial Leap/Climb, upfront Charge, mid dial Flurry, late dial Running Shot with incap, mid-dial usefulness, Batman Ally team ability.
I'm not anti-Icons Bats, but this one clearly wins imo, and is a better and more consistent Close Combat fighter, which is what I think of when I think of Batman. To be fair though, much as I love the dynamic sculpt, Icons Batman's pose is just flat out definitive and classic.
201 Batman isnt sporting front loaded outwit and a 19 close combat defense with Toughness either so I dont see how it is a fair comparison. I mean 201 is a well priced tie-up version of Batman but I dont see him as outright superior at all because they have different roles. The real problem is why not pay 10 more points for 001 The Dark Knight from DKR rather than this Batman? I will every time.
I luv Batman, own every single batman piece made except for the KC Batman, and I'll say that for every Batman piece I own, they all seem to be similar yet uniquely different. Lamppost is a lightning fast attacker and a battlefield tactician, Sinestro Batman is very surgical striker that requires a little finesse, DC75th Batman SR is a superb tie up piece, Dick Grayson Batman is a beast at 77 points and BatB Batman and Catwoman is an opponents worst nightmare and my favorite Duo figure in clix. This Batman seems to have the very best of all worlds, charge+exploit weakness, top dial Outwit, 19 defense against close combat with Toughness, flurry w/ perplex and end dial running shot with double target incap. Maybe he will perform beautifully or maybe he will be a disappointment only brought out for a filler during large point cost games. Who knows? I am hoping for the former.
This Batman is going to play a lot like The Dark Knight. Maybe a little easier to kill, but the DV on those opening clicks is going to be a pain. Minimum close combat D of 17? I'm sensing a lot of Superman Allies are going to be played.
Ra's Al Ghul: "Your mentor is slain. You are wounded. You haven't the slightest hope of foiling my plans. Why continue to resist?"
Nightwing: "I dunno. Maybe they just raise 'em stupid in Gotham."
This figure is going to see a lot of play. A full dial of leap/climb, indomitable, some opening charge, and later on flurry. Gosh, how are the dkr versions better. Looking forward to getting him paired with crisis kc supes, as they share a keyword.
Take a second to think about this. On his opening click? He has 7 powers. SEVEN. Willpower, Stealth, Toughness, Combat Reflexes, Leap/Climb, Outwit, and Charge. And permanent Leap/Climb and Stealth, which are the 2 trademarks of Bat Family. I'll take it.
Great movement, Perma Leap/climb, Indomitable so you don't have to worry about pushing, and Perma Stealth. He can get anywhere you need him to be, charge in for three or "at least" two on most of his clicks, and, as Neelan said, if you're worried about ranged attackers you're using him wrong (Superman Ally or Avengers Initiative/Ultimates notwithstanding). Not a god by any means, but, for my money, this is the perfect "comic book" Batman. He gets into position, counters your defense, and punches you in the face. Kinda wish he got smoke cloud somewhere on this dial, but I can live without it.
I've only played him with John Constantine twice so far (my two favorite comic book characters ever? Yes, please, finally), and they were the MVPs on my both League builds I used. Bats didn't have to worry about enemy prob, had John using his prob whenever Bats just *had* to make an attack roll, and all the while John's wild carding Batman Ally to hide behind. I've only had this set in hand for a few days, but between this Batman, John Constantine (waited my entire adult life for that fig), Green Arrow (best DC sniper so far?) and Deathstroke, I'm almost ready to call this my favorite set of all time. Alas we didn't get a new Darkseid, but I can just get the one from the Superman set and repaint it.
