The suggested format for the Month Eight Event is a 500 point Modern Age constructed Tournament. All figures must be from Incredible Hulk, Galactic Guardians and/or Chaos War.
The bold word is why folks are reading this as not forbidding the IG since it is not a figure, but it does forbid Warlock, In-betweener, etc, etc since they are not form any of the three listed sets.
While the oranges are welcome to give their interpretation, you still need to ask you local judge how they will be running the event.
This isn't helpful at all. You just bolded a word and restated your point. This is why people stop asking questions on the forums. Ugh.

Thanks. Unfortunate, but it makes sense. Does anyone have a link to where WK said this?

I am sorry I bothered you by trying to help explaining it to you. I bold the word 'figure' to highlight the lack of the word's resource, relic, or object., thus the reason folks think IG is legal but figures are not.
Also, vlad's post is the most official you are going to get in regards to a official statement from WK; beyond what I pointed out. They goofed, and like so many times before, did not take the steps needed to fix it. A simple re-post of the format with the clarification would have been all they needed, but they did not. They have know this clarification is needed every since DexCon.

Thanks for the further explanation.
The reason I keep pushing is based on what I just quoted from you. We all have a tendency to say things like, "WK said," or "we've been told," but the truth is that we can't point to an actual instance where this happened. It sounds like there was a discussion at DexCon, but that's hardly common knowledge.
In this case, we're addressing it at the local level. It becomes a bigger issue once we converge on DexCon/GenCon/wherever WK has the final say. I appreciate your insight. Hopefully we can discuss how this shook out in Indy in a couple weeks.

Just in case, you are going to GenCon. The inability to use the Gauntlet is listed in at least one of their tournaments; the Run the Gauntlet #5, so that is not a translational thing, but rather it is clearly spelled out. Right, but that wasn't the case when the Gauntlet tournament series was first made available, and heroclix.com/infinity-gauntlet was never edited to reflect the "Run the Gauntlet" set of stipulations.
The confusion came into play with different interpretations and definitions for the word "figure." Taken literally, the stipulations allow for any Modern Age relic, resource or special object.
More confusion was added when people realized that Fast Forces figures were not technically part of the sets that the tournament guidelines stipulated.
Basically, we need Wizkids to create and write their tournament guidelines with a munchkin mindset, because that is certainly how they are being read.
