I totally disagree on Scarlet Witch. She IS amazing. Both the 75 and 50 point versions are some of the best support pieces in the game and must haves for competitive players. The 50 pt version gives you Perplex, Prob, Barrier, Mystics, 6 range Psychic Blast, and Avengers keyword.

From WK marketing aspect - this FF pack has great appeal to new players or casual players that don't collect everything in a set. Great map, great sculpts on all figs - well Iron Man is not quite as good as others - but besides that, really great marketing. And the figs are alot of fun despite not necessarily being the optimal characters compared to other incarnations. I think the FF packs are great way to keep trying to bring in new players or sell to more casual players since the figs can be looked at vs blind boosters.

Hey, WANTED this set as soon as it came out, but all the stores in my area sold out like overnight, with some peeps buying multiple packs to stack up on the Wanda goodness...

Don't misunderstand, I do like the Scarlet Witch.

As far the character goes, this figure doesn't capture her true abilities. That is a disappointment.

Competitively speaking, I'll leave that for each player to decide. One thing I like in a dial is endurance. The ability to hang in there.

Take a look at some dials:

(Damage) Trained Together Since the Beginning: Beast can use Probability Control if no other friendly character has used Probability Control this turn. He can only use it during the attacks of other friendly characters with the X-Men keyword.

Start with Prob - although its very specific. Push him and he gets support. Push again and up comes Perplex. Forget the pushing. He gets hit for damage. He's going to likely land on Perplex, Outwit, or maybe Support. Heck, end dial he has Willpower and Leap/Climb so he can bound away and X-Men Team heal himself.

(Attack) Telepathic Confusion: Professor X and friendly characters within 4 squares that share a keyword with Professor X can use Shape Change. If a friendly character succeeds on a roll for this Shape Change, give that character an action token if they have zero action tokens.

(Damage) Helping Hand: Friendly adjacent figures may use the Sharpshooter ability and modify their range value by +1.

RS to position, and attack. Push to do it again and bring up both Defend AND TK. Better yet, target a Mystic. Hit them for 3 and go to Click number 2. Push to TK and then bring on the Perplex. A very aggressive dial.

Although I make the comparison to Lyssa Drak, Lyssa is actually better in some regards.

(Damage) Chaos Magic: Scarlet Witch can use Perplex and Probability Control.

Are you going to push her? Most likely, no. As an opposing player, I know that. I also know, with the Mystics TA most players will load up the damage to reduce the amount of feedback they will take. 3 base damage + Heavy Object is all it takes.

And at 50 points:

(Damage) Chaos Magic: Scarlet Witch can use Perplex and Probability Control.

A Skrull Assassin can one-shot her.

Its nice to have those support powers all together in one place offensively but defensively it makes her a huge target that doesn't have the length of life nor the endurance to really make her a no-brainer. And when she is missing those "Chaos Magic" clicks, she is not very useful.

Big teams she'll be fun - and that is what the game is about. And for fans who wanted something more than:

She is a dramatic improvement. Its just when I read:

Quote
CHAOS MAGIC: Give Scarlet Witch and Wonder Man a free action and choose an opposing character within 8 squares and line of fire and roll a d6 that can't be rerolled. The chosen character can't use the following type of powers or abilities until your next turn based on the result. 1 = Speed Powers; 2 = Attack Powers; 3 = Defense Powers; 4 = Damage Powers; 5 = Team Abilities; 6 = Your choice of any of the above
I feel a little sad...

Making her 100 points, giving her a full dial of her FF SP and a trait with the above would have been much more exciting, for me.

Maybe next time!

I don't buy a lot of clix so I dig the FFs in general, I don't have to buy a lot to get some good figs. This ff in particular has some good team players. I've only played the witch at 75 and the wasp once but they both did great for me. I kept the witch towards the back supporting and put the wasp up in the action.

Hadn't looked at this guy in awhile. He becomes quite nasty with the Asgardian ATA so he can continue to dish out nasty damage on that top click. And is still only 117 points with the ATA. May have to give him a try sometime soon on an Avengers squad.

That team always stayed together for a quick, easy and reliably fun & competitive team. Even to this day it's viable.

I am going to say that I was pleased with the regular Chaos War set. It had some new versions of older Avenger pieces and I am thankful for the updates. The duo chases were for the most part, awesome. I pulled Doom/Kang and Thor/Herc so I felt they could be very useful in team build. This fast forces set is subpar, due to a non flying iron man and thor (how dare you, neca?) but I will be buying the Mockingbird and Scarlet Witch from a third party online vendor. The main set and mass market Thor and Captain America pieces were terrific, so with the bad came the good.
