While we are getting the umpteenth version of Superman, Batman and some color or other of Lantern, there are still oh so many more or less popular characters out there that are still waiting impatiently for their Heroclix debut.
Today I will be talking about a villain who has fought the JSA and JLA over decades… The Wizard!!
The Wizard originally appeared to battle the Justice Society of America in the Golden Age, first on his own and then as the founder of the Injustice Society of America. Boasting illusion powers, he was a villain with typically lightweight powers of that era.
Later, he joined the original lineup of the Secret Society of Super-Villains as brought together by Darkseid. He appeared to be a third stringer, until it was revealed that he was manipulating the SSoSV into acquiring objects of great power for him. He took control of the Society and led them against the Justice League of America.
Why clix him? He's a key member of the Injustice League, as well as a member of two major line-ups of the Secret Society of Super-Villains. Having been in comics since the 40s, there are a huge number of storylines he's appeared in and a number of heroes that he's fought. Villains, particularly team-player villains, are always welcome in Clix.
Who would he play with? I've already mentioned the two Societies he's fronted. That would put him in company with Per Degaton, Vandal Savage and Icicle (his dad anyway-- also Unclixed!) as well as Star Sapphire, Floronic Man, Blockbuster, Professor Zoom and others.
As a mystical powerhouse, I think he'd go along with any number for magical badguys.
And he will also always be welcome on my Crossover Namesakes team with Chameleon, Sandman and Enchantress!
What would his dial look like?
The Wizard really deserves two dials, to go along with his serious power upgrade in the Bronze Age.
Old Wizard Illusory confusion(Incapacitate)
No, I am over here(Mastermind)
Or is it over here?(Shape Change)
I'd give him decent range, and a special ability to represent his convincing illusions.
Team Ability: Injustice League is typical for both SSoSV and ILA members, but it's such a waste! Still, it's what fits.
New Wizard Invisibility Cloak(Stealth)
Mind Swap(Mind Control)
Power Glove(Psychic Blast)
Can't hit what you cannot see(Super Senses)
I have people for that(Mastermind)
Is it me, or Superman?(Shape Change)
Might be worth giving him a special power like Deadman's possession.
TA: For the New and Improved version, I'd give him Mystics for sure.

And then join me in two weeks when I showcase another Unclixed DC character— see you then!
Great choice. I'd also like to see Hi-Jack from that mag.
I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Killraven, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
DC is just generally REALLY lacking in a good strong line of villains in clix and having an old time foe of both the JSA and JLA would be pretty wicked.
I would love love LOVE to see this guy in Heroclix!
We definitely need more JSA villains, and more SSoSV members! It's amazing to me that we get so many remakes of superheroes, but can't get a decent showing for most villain teams. That's why more games are hero team vs hero team than hero team vs villain team. At least we finally have decent representation for HYDRA, AIM, and the League of Assassins (if you're willing to use movieclix). Villains need a LOT more love though, especially DC villains!
