Since I was challenged to do a set myself, I've been hard at work. You've seen the commons, uncommons and rares. Now it's time for the super rares! And boy do I have some treats in store for you. These guys are worthy of the term. Some will even give you nightmares! So get in here already and check out my "Gatecrashers" super rares!

This pick of super rares are some serious heavy hitters. You might expect to find them as chases, but hey, Worldbreaker isn't a chase right? So let's get this started with a being that killed all the heroes on an alternate plane and in many other places too!

Perfect Killing Machine: The Fury ignores psychic blast, mind control, outwit, support, other figure's perplex, and stealth Unstoppable: The Fury always breaks away and ignores hindering terrain for movement and line of fire. Multi-targeting: After the Fury has made a successful ranged attack against an opposing figure, the Fury may make an additional ranged attack against a different opposing figure as a free action Indestructible: The Fury may take no more than one damage from any attack, even by use of pulse wave. Reactive Programming: The Fury may used perplex, but only on itself.
Just look this monster up. It killed about everyone it ever came across. It was made by altering reality around science by the Mad Jim Jaspers. I'm surprised someone like Dormammu or Thanos isn't using it for their personal toy. It's body count is comparable to things like Ultron. You know what... it would kick Ultron's silver can.
Speaking of altering reality, I'm sure the guys at NECA/WizKids have been trying to figure out good ways to show altering reality in the game. Well, take a look at these!
Movement within reality: Jamie possesses phasing/teleport Unreachable: Jamie's special powers may not be outwitted Pulling your strings: Jamie may use mind control and takes no damage for its use. You shouldn't be that close: Jamie may use pulsewave or quake. You didnn't really do that: When Jamie would be successfully affected or damaged by any power, team ability, trait, or attack, you may roll 1 D6. On a 4,5,or 6, Jamie avoids the effect or damage.
Altering reality is an ability that would and should affect everything, even traits and team abilities. Most of the characters that use it are at limited range however and that's it's weakness. I also tried to tailor the style of altering reality to the character, like as follows:

Allergic to metal: Close combat damage from figures named Colossus or Wolverine, or with the armor keyword cannot be reduced below 1 to Proteus. Reality Warp Field: Proteus's powers cannot be outwitted and Proteus ignores other figures perplex and support. Alter Terrain: Give Proteus a free action and choose water, hindering, or clear. All terrain within 5 spaces of Proteus is that form of terrain until the beginning of your next turn. Liquify Opponent: Give Proteus a power action where he makes a close or ranged combat attack as a free action. If successful, roll 1d6 and use the result as penetrating damage from the attack instead of Proteus's printed damage. Distortion field: Proteus gains +3 against ranged attacks and has impervious.
This is based on the original Proteus from Classic X-men way back. I read the story when I was a kid, ha ha. It was Colossus that finally defeated him. The only thing I didn't mess with was his permanent possession of bodies that would decay because of his power. I felt that would be going too far for game play. He's enough to knock out just the way he is. OH, and that changing terrain ability? Yes, if he turns elevated into clear terrain, people fall down.
Bloodthirst: Dracula has steal energy Hypnotic Gaze: Dracula may use Mind Control as if he had a range of 5. Dracula is +1 to attack to use mind control on figures with the Monster keyword or female figures. Ancient Warrior: Dracula has Invulnerability and Combat Reflexes.
Of all the villains that have made an impact in Marvel, we haven't seen this one yet. Why not? He would have been perfect for Mutations and Monsters. So why not make him now? And in this made up set of mine, he's a perfect counter for the Blade I made.
Counter Attack: When an attack that would do damage is successful against Roma, roll 1d6 after other defense powers resolve. On a result of 5 or 6, cancel that damage and deal the attacker 1 unavoidable damage instead. Omniversal Magic: Roma may use outwit or cancel a trait or team ability on a target figure within 10 spaces and line of sight until the beginning of your next turn as a free action.
Now your eyeballs are popping out of their sockets aren't they? If you're wondering "who in dogspit is Roma?" just look her up. She's the daughter of Merlyn and one of the official guardians of the Omniverse. That would be our universe and all the ones parallel to it. Roma has magic powerful enough to neuter Dormammu with the flick of a finger. She watches Watchers. Get the idea? Normally amongst those who do not interfere, if they do, run.

Master Assassin: Slaymaster possesses Stealth Highly Equipped: Slaymaster may use BCF and Energy Explosion
Okay, not as heavy a hitter as the reality mongers above, but Slaymaster was an official nemesis of Captain Britain. He's the guy who took Psylocke's eyes out when she still had her original body. He has hypersonic speed because he really was fast and an expert at the ambush attack. He also had teleportation technology he used to help in this. Captain Britain killed Slaymaster by pounding the guys head to mush with a big rock. But hey, being dead hasn't stopped other characters from being made.

OBEY!: Mandarin may use Mind Control and takes no damage from using it. Minion protect me!: Mandarin possesses Mastermind. When Mandarin is the target of a ranged attack, if a friendly figure less than 100 points is within 3 spaces of Mandarin and line of sight, that figure may be moved into the line of fire and adjacent to Mandarin. This does not cause an action token on the moved figure or Mandarin.
I think it's high time we saw a new Mandarin, don't you? The last one was a "by the brick" reward and he's still awesome. I simplified some of Mandarin's abilities and gave him some traits for accuracy on his mind controlling and meat shielding. I think this would be a fun Mandarin to play. That minion ability would be a great way to get another shooter ready for action or some other character into a good position to return fire.

Big with claws: Stegron possesses super strength and BCF but may not use them combined.
With the Savage Land becoming a keyword, I would really like to see that get filled out more. Stegron would do good to complete the keyword, much like others I made for this. Stegron has been both hero and villain so matches well with other teams. And he was a scientist too.
To round up the super rares I decided to fill out one more keyword that's been lacking since it was put on Gideon. Yep, the Externals. With these guys you can actually roll a full team of Externals. That's why Cannonball is on the full roster for my "Gatecrashers".
Counter Attack: When a close combat attack is successful against Absalon (even if it wouldn't do damage), roll 1d6. On a result of 5 or 6, deal the attacker 1 unavoidable damage.
Absalon could make his body all thorny with long spires. He hung out with Gideon a lot before he died at the hands of Selene.
Shred your molecules: Candra possesses Telekinesis and Psychic Blast Immortal, almost: Candra may use regeneration as a free action
Candra could use telekinesis like a fine surgical implement. In some ways, she was almost stronger than Jean Grey. Unfortunately she was stupid enough to keep her life force in some jewel that got blasted by Cyclops.
Mystical External: Saul may use Super senses and Probability Control
Saul was a decent sorcerer and almost on par with people like Doctor Strange. He was also killed by Selene. You know, I wondered why they even made Gideon who only had one keyword. Was it because of Cannonball? I don't know, but with this, there would actually be a fully functioning team of Externals that might even be interesting to play.
That rounds up the super rares and I have one more part to go. That's right, I even developed chase figures! I did them much in the style of Giant Sized X-men so can you guess who they might be? I tell you what, they're positively insane. So see you next time with the final part of my set of Gatecrashers!

This fictional set reminded me that Chris Claramount and Alan Davis came up with some really insane stuff during the 80's and early 90's. To the point where it almost reads like an X-Men or Captain Britain Fan Fic.
Really neat! I do however, believe you should have incorporated Proteus' possession power and the "dired out husk" effect he had on those he possessed. Maybe a SP that has him use mind control giving a herald-like dial enhancement(like on GG Galactus) to the figure mind controlled, a limited(maybe 2 turn) duration that leaves Proteus in an Odinsleep-like state during the possession, and at the end of the duration causes 3 or more unavoidable damage to the figure possessed based on the possessed figure's power set and/or point cost. And an attack bonus for use on friendly figures and has no effect on wolverine, colossus, robot and armor keyworded figures? You could field pogs on your team just to use as the fodder!
I thought up a very similar dial for Dracula yesterday.
Quick notes:
I would give Roma and J. Braddock the Excalibur keyword.
You often write "has x power" instead of "can use x power" in your SP descriptions. I think "can use" follows form better and can be less confusing.
Again, great stuff. I would love to see some of these characters made. I've always liked Excalibur.
Have you already designed a Rachel Summers Phoenix?
I posted her as Marvel Girl from the Starjammers since they already made that one of her before. I wanted something more up to date. I believe I made her an uncommon for this. So she should be in part 2 :D
