I regret the harsh post I made and I want to apologize for being rude and insulting to the players and for my comments about the gauntlet. I am sorry to everyone.

"No, Joker. You’re playing the wrong game. The old game. Tonight you’re taking no hostages. Tonight I’m taking no prisoners."
At least until 10th Iron Man and Catwoman come out. These guys go to the tourneys and call themselves champions, but winning with a full gauntlet takes very little skill. The teams change, but they all include gauntlets, and I will refuse to congrat any winner until they have the skill and courage to play a non gauntlet endowed team and win the whole competition with it
.
Congrats to cramcompany, regardless.
I think that if any team was used more aggressively in the early rounds, the IG would factor in a little less. Oddly enough, I haven't seen any non-AE/brick/tentpole used with the IG in a tournament setting, yet.
If I ever get a chance to play in a Con Championship in 2013, I'm running a force sans resources, win or lose.
I don't recall claiming to have a creative team. I said most of the teams were well diversed as far as figures go. I honestly had no idea what to play in the finals as 300pts isn't really my speciality. If you look at the sheets I came in like 14th place... I was just happy to qualify for the finals... so I grabed my 300 point supremacy league team and gave it a go.

I love how people who don't even go to competitions feel they should have some say in how they are run or what is and is not allowed to be used so that it's a "fair" game. If it takes no skill to play a gauntlet team then riddle me this boy wonder.... How come the guy who won last year when there was no gauntlet won this year again? Or here's a good one for ya, what decides who wins if both teams have gauntlets??? I mean it can't be skill there's none of that involved right?
I'm sorry that you don't like the gauntlet, but that's just silly to say you expect someone to intentionally put themselves at a disadvantage in hopes to get a congrats from you.. I'll go congratless and enjoy my LE moonstone and my specter I got for going undefeated in 2 of the 4 qualifiers useing a gauntlet.
The gauntlet is the great equalizer. Without it, people focus on the figures that natively have power cosmic or indomitable or can't be outwitted. If anything, fortitude shows us that players love not being able to be outwitted. I'd say that plays a big role, maybe even more, in the choosing of the gauntlet than the later-in-the-dial god clicks.
Now they can't be outwitted, and now they can attack twice in every three turns if needed. They also have access to other abilities, and a possible god click or two later on. It makes any piece better, so more pieces can compete.
In a card game, it would be labelled a 'staple', or something that every deck runs. And to go along with the tcg logic, if you don't run the staples in your deck, you have a larger chance of losing.
Fortitude was likely a staple in it's time (I wasn't playing then). Players, including I, need to get used to seeing it used a lot, and even consider using it ourselves. Because it really does open up the game to more pieces. You can try your Fantastic Four Thing against the opposing Chaos King, now. You can march your Kilowog out onto the field against Galactus and snuff your nose.
Try playing it on figures you like to make them even stronger.

It's the same thing as an armchair quarterback being convinced they know better than a coach. There's a crowd of 'em in every sport/competition.

HAHAHA... That guy thinks Scott has no skill? Thats funny as all get out. That man has been winning big events since before most of you were playing this game.
Hey all! This Terry, one of the 2 head judges at Dragon*Con. I am sitting in my hotel room on my iPad so I won't be posting much, let alone team lists (I don't have them).
The other head Judge, Sparks, just left...we had dinner together with some other volunteers...and is heading home. He has all the paperwork and will post everything later this week.
I leave Atlanta tomorrow to head home to New Hampshire.
I will say this much: the IG balances things out. It makes those figures you wouldn't normally seen played much more competitive.
As a Superman fan I was happily surprised to see as many Supermen and Eradicators played (my 300 team includes Eradicator).
Thanks to Typhon, my fellow volunteers and all the players from Dragon*Con...it was an amazing weekend.
What we do in life echoes in eternity!
Respect is a given, only disrespect can be earned.

Thank you so much Terry! You ran an amazing event and 4 solid days of gaming! You and your team should be proud!
I wasn't around for the championships, I do know there were great players in every tournament.
But what I can say, I've never had more fun in a bigger tournament environment. All the judges, players, and folks running the tournaments were awesome. My buddy and I came out of a few years of clix retirement and everyone made a joy to play and just hang out!
I plan on driving down again next year for it, and hope to have knocked the rust off by then to make a honest showing of it. Bravo to everyone who made it amazing!
Prize or no prize. If you're not having fun, whats the point?

But honestly it doesn't seem possible to win without the gauntlet. Next year they might if they play Catwoman against it, but now there isn't a counter for it.

I apologize for addressing this comment first, before all the positive ones.
In my time here on realms and in big tournaments (my first win was 2007 for a major Championship), I have heard some messed up comments.
Here are some examples
"Your team was completely unorginal knockoff! Jeanne-Marie won last year!" (I was the one that had won with Jeanne-Marie that last year. This man was hating me for ripping off myself.)
"Incontact (with oracle) is like running your team on auto pilot. What's the point of even playing"
"Players at these levels ruin the game. KC Flash and Jean Gray should not be on the same team." (the last guy was just refusing to recognize there are different ways to play heroclix.. but also... kinda right.)
I mentioned the above to give you (GL_Alex) an idea of what kind of comments I DO NOT respond to. However, your comment is far and away the most offensive and least intelligent thing I have ever seen posted on HCrealms.
I'm not coming after you for me, I honestly do not require your validation and I'm offended that you think ANY champion cares if you think they're a winner or not.
I'm saying this, because there were many many great players in this tournament and everyone of them played the gauntlet. They made the choice to play it, because it's the smartest move. For you to say that all of THEIR efforts take "little skill" is laughable inaccurate.
To say they have "no courage"... I'd like you to consider this. They all played through a long tournament to get to the finals. They all manned up and played nervously through the finals. You however, did you not even show up to the tournament.
Who lacks courage in your opinion? Is it the people that try or people that don't?
However, I WILL CONGRATULATE YOU GL_Alex on one thing. You're the first person in realms to ever make a comment that was so insane, it actually upset me.
However, perhaps I should not be upset at all, you probably just don't understand.
I apologize to everyone for responding to that comment by GL_Alex, but I played some amazing people on Sunday and I just can't be quite and let them get bashed for making a smart choice.
