I remember playing my brother in a game where he had Lian Harper manning the laser turret and desperately trying to get some bragging rights. He didn't KO anyone if I recall, but did get some hits in.
I'm about to run an Arrow Family team with that token on it (because let's face it... anyone who attacks Lian Harper is just a jerk), and now I really wish I had this token. Hilarious!
That's true, it will get you farther, unless you're sneaky about it. And let's face it... I am, in essence, a trickster figure.

I still enjoy using this when i have a team without any superstrength. A great place to sit someone in stealth. A great way to fire at someone carrying a tombstone, making them drop the tombstone so you can go for an easier swing with an actual attack from the person on the turret or someone waiting nearby. A chance for some real damage from a lowly bystander. I honestly believe that anyone, friendly or opposing, can use the turret. But this is apparently up for debate.
I never hit anything with it, but have lost more than a few characters to my opponent commandeering my own turret to shoot my team. Gave up on the damn thing and just left it behind on purpose after the last time I tried using it, pre-hiatus.

Since when could your opponent use your Laser Turret? The original object said "friendly to you", as did the wording in the July Player's Guide. Was there a point in time where those three words weren't a part of the rules for this object that I don't know about? My judge always said it was only you and your teammates, so that was how we played it. I'd hate to think I was wrong again, despite actually researching it moreso than other articles.
Would enhancement, PD, Hydra and Sheild team abilities work with it?
Nope.
All of those effects rely on a character making a ranged combat attack. The laser turret is not a character, so it doesn't trigger them.
this is also why it cant benefit from PC (no one to target the prob on).
Strictly speaking it doesnt ignore mystics, however since mystics only results in 1 damage and it takes 3 to destroy an object, the mystics damage does nothing. if someone somehow had a character that dealt three feedback damage when it was attacked the turret would be destroyed by that.

Technically it has always only worked for the team that played it, but letting anyone standing on the thing fire it is a very popular house rule.

Not sure, though I do know that at Worlds your opponent could always use it.

I asked earlier for a clarification on this as it wasn't a house rule being that folks were able to do use it regardless of who played it during Worlds and other big events.
The text does not signify the player that actually played the object. It is worded that when a friendly character occupies the object then it is allowed to attack an opposing character.

I'd use John Jameson on the turrent. He can sit on the turrent, copy a stealth granting TA, use superstrength to move the turrent and then change to Manwolf if anyone comes up to close combat him while he's on the turrent.
