*dances around in a giddy circle*

This is exactly what I've been waiting for, a Canary worth of pairing up with any of the awesome Ollies we've been getting. And in the best of her costumes, too... no more teal for this bird!

You've obviously been reading the wrong stories. There's a more recent one, when Red Arrow is part of the League, and they're fighting off a series of Red Tornado clones with different powers. Dinah grabs an arrow and systematically jabs it into the robot's body all over in the span of, I dunno, 15 seconds in order to find it's shutoff point. (Spoiler: it's in the heel, and she starts at the chest.) During that, Roy comments that when he was younger, he always assumed Ollie was the more dangerous of the two, and that he'd realized as he grew up that he was wrong.

Add Lunge and the Justice League Silver Age ATA and we are pretty darn close to a perfect Black Canary.

As is, she is solid enough to be a go to figure. 62 points (71 decked out) is a good point value and I think I can really make her work for me. Just need patience relying on that Batman Ally TA for protection.

I have lots of experience using the JL 50 point version (7-10 record) and that is with a figure that is inferior in every single way (except range). Looking forward to getting a lot more in the wins column with this new version - especially since this is likely 1 of 3 Black Canary dials we are getting (Fast Forces and 3-fig Team Pack).

Can't wait for $treets to come out already!!!

Not a bad use of 62 points. I kind of thought her Canary Cry could be done as a Pulse Wave that doesn't target friendly figures she shares a keyword with (they're ready for it), but this is an interesting take on it.

Also thought there might be a trait that gives bonuses if she's adjacent to Green Arrow, but then again, that would probably last two turns. Then nothing on turn 3. And then start giving minuses as they start to get on each others nerves.

Awesome. And here I thought I was going to skip this set.
First Daredevil, Spidey, Cap shot, Bucky as Cap, Steve's back, Odin's back, Bucky's dead, Tony off the wagon!? That's it. Marvel is dead to me.

I don't know how much patience you will need with improved movement and starting leap/climb! End dial she can stuck in hindering terrain, but there is the willpower to help.

I am surprised at how much of a solid upgrade this is for 12 points over the JL-2007 version...and it reminds me how sad I am when LSH figures hit 70 points and have no greater than 1 damage values.

What I have been waiting for
Finally can put my mod of Vet Canary with a SI Iron Fist dial away....they made a point efficient martial artist version or Dinah with a usable Canary Cry. I am pleased.

That aside, it's a pretty great dial.

And it is a relatively little known nickname. I'm actually really impressed that they pulled that from the comics.

It also appears on Wikipedia I suppose. But to have it be attached to Willpower I think shows awareness of how she came about that name. Thank you for reading comics Wizkids! :D

The ability to incapacitate all adjacent opponents will be a nice way to keep some stealthed figs busy while you move in to whittle them off of their stealth clicks (unless they are using the Batman Ally TA).
Read BoP from Dixon or Simone's runs. You'll find the real Dinah. That, or Johns did a pretty good job with her during his JSA run.

For Green Arrow, it is harder, because you had Winick for a long time, who didn't seem to know how to use Canary well, and downright disturbingly abused the character in the last 5 issues or so of v3. I'm pretty sure that Smith's characterization of her was very good though.

Problem with Canary is that her personality is kind of hard to pin down. And she was horribly miswritten during the whole Rise and Fall storyline. But while Winick may not have had a good grasp on Canary, he had Ollie spot on.

I read a number of DIXON and all of Simone's (Post Crisis to New Earth) plus her JSA and Justice League appearances and they're pretty much consistent to me in terms of how she is always regarded as an A-List Martial Artist and one of the most dangerous at that in the DCU. From Pre-Crisis to Post Crisis, she's also consistently portrayed as strong-willed and a highly accomplished acrobat. It was Winick who failed to acknowledge the full extent of Dinah's personality and skill set.

Whew, seems like I hit a nerve. Sorry, didn't mean to offend. I've read a good number of things with Dinah in them too, and I got most of what you got too, but at the same time, it's not just Winick who hasn't fully captured her personality with inaccuracy, so don't just pin it on him. She hasn't been as consistently portrayed as you suggest, especially in more recent years, and not just by Winick. In fact, especially post-Winick in the pre-52, she seemed to be used more as a plot device than as a character. She and Ollie have killed for each other numerous times in the past. So when he kills one man, she dumps him? Oh, right, we just wanted Ollie solitary in a forest, so that's why.

I didn't say that Winick did a good job with her, but I also didn't say that everyone else has done a great job either. So please, a little moderation. No one loved the pretty bird more than me, but sometimes she's a strong-willed woman (as she should be) and sometimes she's portrayed as a storyline advancement. I love me some character-driven story, so I object to that very much.

Oh yeah.

She is a fantastically awesome Martial Artist.

Was it her teacher who gave her the Nickname Little Bird
or Shiva?

I really like this Dial,
but Sound Waves only go 3 Squares?

And no penetrating damage?

I have seen that Canary Cry hurt some really tough characters.

You know, Charge, High Attack, nice defense, etc.

With a Trait of 6 Range Attack Pulse Wave down one Map Column
that does 1 Damage and gives a Token.

I would have liked this Pulse Wave at a 6 Range
but only in a straight line and only doing 1 Damage with an Incap added.

Her sound blast wouldn't be in a 360 degree arc,
only powerful enough to do the damage forward in one row
Colossals should Carry, and Punch 2 squares away.
Tweak Mind Control and Smoke Cloud.
Battle Fury should allow you to throw objects.
