silly rules questions. help me.
Please deal with my ignorance and help me out with these questions that plague me in the ever growing rules and powers. If you can quote the actual FAQ's or sources for your answer that would help legitimize.

1. Poison. Do powers that reduce damage such as invulnerability, , toughness, etc, and Mastermind's deflections, work against poison's one click damage?

2. Flight mode changes. Hovering characters can go on top of blocking terrain without going to soaring when they go up or over blocking, I got that. They ignore hindering terrain and characters on movement. I got that. Do hovering characters have to make flight mode changes to go from the ground to the top of a building or other elevated terrain? I can't find this rule anymore. I know they don't take damage if knocked off a roof, so it seems hovering can make the change in elevations, but it changes the game if you have to count the mode changes to go to a roof. Help me with this before the players lynch me. And by lynch I mean look angrily and pout.

3. Phasing. GL team powers that say he can carry up to 8 figures. If he phases, does he still need to make the flight mode change to carry them and to set them back down since carrying requires it? Does phasing or the team power negate this need?

4. Outwit. The rules say 10 spaces and a clear line of fire. Firing says ground to rooftop is half the character's range. Is outwit halved in this case as well?

Thank you all very much.
I have an excel number/point cost generator and a dial top/stats insert generator for illustrator I'd be willing to email people for their wonderful help. I customize pieces and boards.
thanks.

I'll do what I can but I don't really have time right now to hunt up page numbers and such.

Yes. Those powers reduce/redirect damage dealt. Poison deals damage.

No.

You do not need to make a flight mode change to carry figs... GL team ability included. GL team ability is just like any flier carrying a fig except he can carry 8. Otherwise he follows all rules for carrying figs. He can use Phasing while carrying them.

Ground to rooftop is not halved... ground (or rooftop) to soaring is. Outwit, Perplex, etc range would be halved from ground to soaring.

As for some quotes:

1.
Quote
Universe PAC:
POISON (optional): At the beginning of your turn, each opposing character adjacent to this character is dealt 1 damage.

TOUGHNESS Damage dealt to this character is reduced by 1.

INVULNERABILITY Damage dealt to this character is reduced by 2.

IMPERVIOUS (optional): When this character is dealt damage, you may roll one six-sided die; on a result of 5 or 6, the damage dealt is reduced to 0; on a result of 1–4, the damage dealt is reduced by 2.

MASTERMIND (optional): Each time this character would be dealt damage, you may instead choose to have this damage be dealt to an adjacent friendly character with a lower point value than this character.
2. This is more a rule of ommision. That is to say that the rulebook only says that it costs a movement point to go to/from Soaring. Since it does not say that it costs a movement point to go from grounded to elevated terrain, it does not cost a point of movement. (I hope that makes sense...)

3. Again, this is another rule of ommission, similar to #2. The rulebook only states that changing from hovering to soaring costs a movement point. Nothing else does.

4.
Quote
Universe Rulebook page 18, Ranged Combat: A hovering or grounded character can, however, make a ranged combat attack against a soaring character.
This is the only area where it talks about halving your range-attacking a soaring figure from a non-soaring figure. No other situation requires you to halve your range (except for the PW power I guess). As hair stated, it has been ruled that this also applies to powers like Outwit, Perplex, and PC (he's the RA, so he should know... )

Hope this helps....

I thought the book says that you had to be grounded/hovering at eh beginning of picking up, and then soar to carry, and then back to grounded to drop off. This isn't true? Thanks for the replies by the by.

I just reread the answers and am freaked out. Why have we been playing half your range when doing a ranged cambat attack from the ground to a roof? What is wrong with me. Am I blind? Stupid? Now I feel bad. Maybe I should sell the hundreds of clix I have... Nah! Thanks for the help.

The rules only specify that you can't be soaring to drop off or pick up another fig. You never have to go into soaring to actually carry them.
