Great writeup - I was quite entertained throughout

I had the chance to pick up NMLFace for about £8. Pretty good deal considering. I looked at it and looked at it, and just kept trying to figure out how to use him well on a Bat-enemies team or a Society team.

Your version of the Society is pretty good ... and the TK will help him ... but ... eh ... I'm just not sure.

I keep going back to this dial:
cd057 V Clayface
Team: Batman Enemy
Range: 2
Points: 89
Keywords: Brute, Gotham City, Monster, Mud Pack

And thinking I'd rather have that dial with its long long dial and higher early defense. He can serve as MM fodder for my higher point Joker's and other villains, share some nice high AV's and actually take a couple of hits. DV 17 with Impervious just doesn't go very far in the modern game these days. Shape Change helps, but the whole package just doesn't feel worth those points, and at 130+, I'd rather have a Joker or a Luthor in his place anchoring my team.

Maybe I'm just justifying not picking it up because I'm broke ...

Don't knock Mr Hanky. I made one out of cardboard and construction paper, and he tops the tree every Christmas now instead of a star. Best decoration ever.

Love the write up.

Personally, I still like using the Rookie for tie-up hararssment and the Batman Enemy TA can salvage his attack just fine these days. He's also only 57 points.

Also, just a point of interest that the old LE was coloured grey, as seen here:

The owner at my venue played that team pre-card age. Ultra-humanite and the TK super Monkey with a plethora of Clayface.

Not keeping up with current DC storylines, can someone explain to me why Ultimate Clayface has these ice/crystal things coming out of his body, and why the top of his hand is flaming? Thanks.

I feel like U. Clayface's best combination has been ignored: Man-Thing.

Matching generic keyword, a transporter with stop very efficient top-dial abilities in Perplex and Impervious, and a super-poison to match.

By carrying around Clayface, one of Man Thing's biggest weaknesses is shored up in those who can run away. Suddenly, you can seclude one opposing figure against two monsters that you don't want to be adjacent to.

Throw GG GF Dr. Strange with his "everyone near me get's energy shield" ability and oppoonents have no choice but to move up on this trio, leading to a lot of 50/50 situations where they have to take the risk, lest you hit them with ranged secondary attackers.

From his wiki, dear Sir/Madam:

Karlo injects himself with samples from Preston Payne and Sondra Fuller, gaining the abilities to shapeshift and melt with a touch; he becomes the self-declared "Ultimate" Clayface.[6] He is defeated by the combined efforts of Batman and Looker of the Outsiders by overloading his abilities, making him melt into the ground. He literally sinks into the Earth's crust when he loses control of his powers; he survives, however, and now his body sports crystals similar to quartz that endow him with greater powers.

Preston Payne had a melting touch ability. That is where the fire comes from.

Clayface was part of Alexander Luthor's Secret Society of Super-Villains during the Infinite Crisis era.
Not removing this line from my signature until we get Killer Moth (12/17/12).
