Their old versions are just good enough that you can still field them, but they're still showing their age with all the lackluster end-dials.
I would imagine it's because the team has been repeatedly killed off and its book canceled. If even the publisher lacks faith in the series and will off them just to show how potent a threat is... well I wouldn't expect WK to go to the mat for them. The current clix schema clearly favors the most successful ongoing stories and high profile events... and despite their involvement in Chaos War, someone somewhere probably realizes they'll be dead again before any planned figures were released.

Rather a missed opportunity for the gimmick-mechanic loving WK though. The team features at least three decent candidates for AEs (Guardian, Vindicator, Sasquatch), 2 solid candidates for Morph (Box, Snowbird), a pair of astral mystics (Shaman, Talisman), reused names (Guardian, Puck) to make Split/Merge more versatile and even a detachable object/vehicle (Mapleleaf's horse). It even comes with a handful of convenient names for ATA's (pick a flight, any flight).
I was given rep for my screen name alone! Now I feel all warm inside

I could imagine them coming out in the next X-Men themed set, although I wouldn't mind a less themed "sampling" set that could have a few different characters from each area of the MU in order to finish out some of the groups that are lacking members and/or desperately need remakes.

Love me some Alpha Flight, though! I think the issue with the series over the years has been the fact that writers have kept them woefully self-involved and relatively obscure in the context of the other Marvel titles. This is something I've noticed with non-American characters, but the inclusion of characters like Madison Jeffries and Brian Braddock in more mainstream ways have given good flavor to the books they're in and kept the characters relevant. If only Alpha Flight could have that when they have a regular ongoing series...

Anyone read the recent mini-series (that got greenlit for a full on series, but then Marvel hates Canada so it got put back into a maxi-series)? That was some great stuff. I'm a huge Alpha Flight fan (close to finishing a full run on the original 80's to 90's run of the book). It does sadden me that these guys haven't been re-clixed. However, I've heard from some people in the know (a friend of a friend of a friend of a janitor who works at Wizkids) that new Alphans are in the works for a Marvel set in 2013. What that looks like and means I don't know ... but it's about time.

In regards to the team, they are my favorite kind of team in clix: One that you play expecting to not do well with it, but there's so much satisfaction when you win with them. Some pieces can still hang with modern pieces (James "Vindicator" Hudson, Box, Exp. Puck, Wildheart), some are straight garbage (Snowbird, Heather "Vindicator" Hudson, Marrina) and than there's the amazing, but chase rarity, Weapon X. But with the ATA and catching an opponent by suprise (because no one plays Alpha Flight), you can pull off some amazing wins with these canadian wonders.

On a side note: We need a new Wolverine with the Alpha Flight keyword. Not a Weapon X, but an actual Wolverine.

Side-Side Note: Dragon, who do I have to murder to get a pair of those Alpha Flight dice?

A new Alpha Flight is needed. Is this +1 to Attack for the whole game?

much love for the canucks. i have an almost complete run of the first series. on top of remakes (which begs for a northstar & aurora duo), there's still a chunk of unclicked alphans (not to mention the woefully under represented omega flight) to churn out such as talisman, windshear, manikin (trio? quatro?!), purple girl, goblyn/pathway duo, almost all the vol 2 guys and all the vol 3 guys. not to mention the painfully obvious guardian le: michael pointer (how has he not been made? finish off the dark xmen, please)
If I could make only one 'clix: the Melter (Marvel) or Negative Man (DC)

My latest project: Legion of Super Heroes CTD

It is, but only against characters of the team ability/specific figure named. So, you can call X-Men, or Superman (but only one specific Superman on that team), or who/whatever that falls into that category, and you have the bonus for the rest of the game.

As a Candian, I would LOVE an Alpha Flight Starter Set!!!

Featuring a Weapon X Facility//Canadian Rockies double map!

Figures to include;

Sasquatch
Vindicator
Snowbird
Puck
Shaman
Northstar/Aurora duo

I would buy this in a heartbeat! If they're worried about limited sales, then make it a Canadian Convention exclusive! I'll buy two! Our money is just as green (and blue, and red, and brown, and purple) as anyone's!

Make it happen!

please.

The trick around my area is that we have venues (including my own) that run non-generic keyword tournaments and "comic accurate" tournaments every now and then. I usually save a team like Alpha Flight for those types of games so there's a good chance of picking a TA that most of my opponents team has. It works out pretty well.

Love the article. My local store had a Patriot build Tournament for the week of Flag Day and I, of course, ran the Flight. Didn't do as well as I hoped, but I did have FUN. Turns out my fellow players awarded with the Fellowship prize for running an actual Theme team.

I do just wish WK/NECA would remake the Flight. Not counting Weapon X (a fricking chase), the newest piece made is what? 5-6 yrs old? I am glad that piece is Box (my favorite member besides Sasquatch) but I would like some more competitive pieces.

Chaos War would have been perfect since the team was resurrected during that event. Plus, they are the Canadian version of the Avengers which Chaos War was originally supposed to be called "Mighty Avengers".
