I would say no, because the end result of that atack, after actions resolve, is that it hit. But here's one for you.

If I choose a character with multiple targets, or Quake, and they hit a slew of figures but miss one, does that trigger the token removal? Because I would happily Perplex one swarm member's defense into the stratosphere if it meant chain Quaking all of his homies into oblivion.

There were some notable exceptions back in the day. I'd still rank Hypertime Aquaman as one of the best looking figures in the game.
