Disney Villain Off! R3M1: CLAUDE FROLLO VS. PERCIVAL MCLEACH
Welcome to the Disney Villain off. The contest to determine who the ultimate Disney Villain is!
I have compiled a list of the Disney Villain Elite and they will compete to see who takes it. This is not a fighting completion. You are voting for who is more dastardly, cunning or downright despicable. The question is simple... who makes the better villain?
I limited it to one villain per film, which means films with multiple villains will not have all theirs represented. I tried to pick whichever one from that film was most iconic.
Now, allow me to introduce our next match...
CLAUDE FROLLO (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)
Motivation: To make Esmeralda his mistress
Fate: Falls into a pit of molten copper.
Quote: "And he shall smite the wicked and plunge them into the fiery pit!"
vs.
PERCIVAL McLEACH (The Rescuers Down Under)
Motivation: To make money
Fate: Falls down a huge waterfall to his death.
Quote: "Are ya ready Boy? It's time ya learned how to fish for Crocs."
Remember, vote for whomever you think is the most villainous.

Anyway, I gotta vote for the Judge. McLeach was a bad guy who enjoyed his work, but Frollo went bigger and farther and had that whole "Thinks he's the good guy" thing going for him. Claude Frollo to advance.
"There is good and there is evil, and evil must be punished. Even in the face of Armageddon I shall not compromise in this."

I disagree on the movie thing - Hunchback is dark. Very dark. it brings up issues that you don't expect in a cartoon - blatant racism, the "ugly" one who doesn't get the girl, manipulation of religion....
The songs are haunting - Hellfire, God help the outcasts, and Out There are POWERFUL songs that honestly don't "belong" in the same category as "under the sea", "once upon a dream" and "Someday my prince will come"
God Help the Outcasts is one of the most beautiful and real songs out there....
"I don't know if you can hear me, or if you're even there, I don't know if you would listen to a gypsy's prayer" as she sings to God...I mean, I tear up while listening to it as someone who has struggled (in the past) with my own "outcastness" and organized religion.
then they sucker punch anyone who IS religious and uses religion to discriminate....
"God help the outcasts...Show them the mercy they don't find on earth..."
as Esmeralda is singing, they cut to the other prayers "I pray for wealth, I ask for fame, I ask for glory to shine on my name, I ask for love I can possess, I ask for god and his angels to bless me..."
Disney went to a dark place with Hunchback....I liked it. I appreciate it more every time I watch it.
I am tough...but I'm no cookie. -Lana Winters, AHS S2
