The store where I have been playing is keeping a running tally of points earned via the IG event scoring system. I think that is standard. But I have been told by the store owner that the person with the highest points at the end of all the events gets the Thanos figure. A friend told me that it is supposed to be given out differently, that by earning 12 points you earn the right to play in a tournament for Thanos. Is this true?
The points earned now are to get you into the last tournament to win the Colossal Thanos. They arent supposed to be to win him without that final tournament.

Right. This was explained in one of the earliest posts regarding the rules for the IG event. WK said that the pts should be used as a means of gaining entry into the final tourney.
However, if your venue decides that it will use the pt total system to just hand out Thanos, then I would think that they would have every right to. I would make sure that every player that shows up knows this fact though as it deviates from the WK guidelines.
Oh yea, forgot to ask.... can i use RUNNER in a different IG5 event? Probably not. I guess it would be up to the venue
You most certainly can use The Runner in other IG events.
Now, will the venue let you? That's a different story. The venue may not allow an LE for that month's event that was won at a different venue to be played there.
But there is nothing in the rule book about you not being able to play the LE as long as it was officially released.
Once it's in hand, it's officially "released" these days
As a judge/venue guy, I frown upon playing the LE that is also the prize. Zero chance at fellowship (just stating facts).
