You're right I don't know the player, only what you presented on the show which made it sound like gladiator player was perfectly in their rights.
In the case of that particular player, however perhaps you should have a talk with them or something of the sort.
It still doesn't excuse the guy who played KC GL though. I mean yeah getting knocked into worthless sucks but it happens no matter how much you plan. And still if you want to play old pieces, you have to expect that sometimes new hotness is going to come along and make it "not fun" because the old pieces can't keep up the same they used to.
If it's happening all the time though yeah I can see the discouragement and the not fun to play, and I think that's where being the person running the venue it's worth having a talk to the person who's causing strife. But at the same time when prize support's on the line, and if it's something people want people are going to throw fun into the wind and try to do everything they can to win.
I know those "power players" can be irritating and can take some of the fun out of the game, and it can be discouraging.
Have you considered making a game where everyone makes their whatever many point teams and then when they sit down and play their opponent will use their team and they'll use their opponents?
That could be an interesting shake up for the guy who's just looking to win.
Notably with the no figure greater than 2/3 rule, I was looking, unless I'm mistaken gladiator is only 200 points which means that in a 300 pt game (my understanding is you play various pt ranges but whatever, 300 for the example) Gladiator would still be allowed whereas KC GL would not.
Just sayin.
I know you were just throwing it around and that wasn't a solid house rule.. But just something else I noticed.

We never announce what the Prize Support is going to be until players show up with their teams.
Yup he would and KC GL wouldn't which would solve some stuff too. Older characters tend to have a higher point value and do not do as much as newer characters with a lower pt. value.
Ive never been one to like the "switching sides" thing....I don't like people touching my figures. I have two players with OCD and one player who is Autistic so that kinda thing is something I avoid.
LOL it'd be me doing the talking. And it's the typical "Jock" thing, so talking is pointless.
I did play a Thanos "Capture Box" against him and he gave up after 3 captures though...took the fun out of his game. So perhaps lesson learned.
