HEHEHE Totally agree. It made me smile when I saw some of the teams that people brought to a 1st/Fellowship/Fellowship day. No worries, I will continue to play the teams that I want based on what I feel like playing. There are only a few times that a win is really my motivating factor (not much recently).
I was very close to just saying "DONE, you win, full points, I don't need to pretend to play, to roll the dice to try and hit your figure with "ULTIMATE GODHOOD ATTAINED".
I wouldn't have blamed you if you quit at that point. It was the same reason I did basically quit when you hit Apotheosis a few weeks back with Captain America against my JLI team. I brought the JLI that week thinking it was going to be a "fun week" and got smacked down by nasty team after nasty team that week, so I know your pain DC Explorer.
Your Loki team that you played, Oreo, was still a brutal team and well in the same level of competitiveness as any of the Gauntlet teams. However, I had insane levels of luck with my super senses rolls (as well as us forgetting about your Loki's Mystic damage which probably would have made a difference in our match). That was kind of how it was in every game I played last night. The gauntlet was easily my mvp as it saved Adam Warlock's hide so many times with a well-timed super senses rolls or a well-timed Godhood.
Personally, I showed up last night to our venue intending to play a Green Lantern theme team or Adam Warlock. I wanted to show of my Green Lantern mod and hadn't gotten to play the Warlock figure yet and having just read Infinity Gauntlet, I was excited to play him. I couldn't figure out a 300 pt GL team that I liked and wasn't sure what to do with Warlock and while trying to figure something out, I saw all the Gauntlets coming out with other people's teams (as well as hearing one player was playing Imperiex with his Gauntlet and another was playing Target Hulk with his Gauntlet). and remembered my last experience playing a non-Gauntlet, non-cheese team in a week where everyone else gauntleted up nasty figures and threw down. It sucks having a one-sided game no matter which side you are on, but it is much worse when you brought what you thought was a fun themey team and find that you need 10s to hit most of your opponents' figures and then have to hope that they fail the super senses the gauntlet gives them and don't heal back up with the steal energy the gauntlet gives them. So, at the last second I decided to run Adam with the gauntlet and threw in the Green Lantern figure I wanted to use to fill points. The Green Lantern figure never really did much in any of the games, but the Warlock figure smashed face as a gauntleted up, already competitive, figure tends to do.
Justice for Jimmy Olsen!! Superman's Pal needs to be clixed!
