You know those disturbing 2 page truth.com advertisements in comics?

I am tired of going to read my comics and seeing that. First of all it's disturbing, second of all why do I have to see it? I don't smoke and it's just gross to see that. It's funded by a tobacco company, why can't they just put that image on the freaking cigarette packaging and leave me out of it?

It's sick, am I right or are you wrong?

Yeah, it's becoming a real pain in the ###.

For those of you who haven't seen them one of them is a woman with her eyelids sewn shut and a scalpel being held up to the right eyeball and the second image is a disgusting looking mouth sewn shut with a scalpel being held up to that.

That is freaking sick.

Defend that, you can't, a line was crossed.

and it doesn't help that the ads are ALWAYS spliting up the two most important pages

the TRUTH is that the ads are as sick (if not sicker) than actually smoking

I'm not a supporter of smoking at all (quite the opposite, smoking killed my Grandfather before I even existed), but yeah, those ads are pretty nasty.

what a dumb organization and what a bunch of stupid tactics...

I don't find the ads sick but I can see how others can. To me, it's one more reason to buy independent. Why the heck should I have to pay for a comic in which I'm being lectured for habits I may or may not have.

Why the heck has smoking been singled out anyway? Yes it's stupid, yes it's poisonous, yes it smells bad. However, how is that worse than drinking? I'd rather live with a smoker than an alcoholic any friggin' day, but smoking is apparently more evil?

Nothing worse, than reading a good comic, and turning to the ad, right in the middle of it.

"Oh snap, Emma Frost has a secret that might just destroy the X-Men, not only destroying the image of the team but also the members? That's insane. But dammit, I have to turn to page to find out."
*flips page*
"HOLY FREAKIN' ####! THAT"S DISGUSTING! I WON'T BE ABLE TO JACK OFF FOR A WEEK!"

Yeah, I'm usually reading books at lunch, and those FREAK ME OUT!

First off I don't smoke and I wish the whole world would quit tommorow morning. With that out of the way.......

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Those ads are freakin' grossing me out. They have no place in comics, or much of anywhere else I can imagine. People with their eyelids sewn shut belong in a Wes Craven film or something, not in books that kids read.
People should be E-mailing angry letters to these publishers.

I don't smoke, but I also believe that if I want to I should be able to without being harassed for it. It would be my choice to slowly kill myself, so leave me alone and let me do it if I want. I think we should be trusted to form our own opinions without the byass af disgusting ads.

i agree with you all. I freeking hate those ads. It's 2 perfectly good pages in a comic that are being taken up by disturbing images. By my mothers mandable i say nay!

Well, I've never seen anyone die from second hand drinking....but I've seen people die from second hand smoke... The ads don't bother me at all. If you don't like em, don't buy the comic. After all you can choose to not buy a comic.
