HUNTER DC/Marvel/Indy TOC Round 1, Match 14: Iron Man Vs Mr Terrific
Welcome to the Marvel/DC/Indy Hunter Tournament of Champions!

The backstory:

A bored Mr Myxyzptlk, out wandering the multiverse looking for mischief to cause, runs into the Grandmaster and is fascinated. Inspired, he and Grandmaster decide to hold a very special tournament, to see whether the craftiest of the humans can face the most powerful. To that end, he finds amid the vast multiverse a world which just happens to contain all the beings in question, a hybrid universe when all these characters have co-exited all along.

The rules as follows:

Two opponents are chosen from the following list, and given 24 hours to prepare to hunt down each other. No contact can be made prior to that time, and certain handicaps may be placed on some characters at the whims of the two Game Masters in question. Each character is given the proper motivation-- fight or suffer unspecified terrible consequences-- but they are not expected to break from their own codes of ethics.

Characters may make use of whatever resources they have, including allies, up until the hunt begins-- but then must go it alone. Our gamemasters are patient, and they do not expect every hunt to resolve instantly into a battle. Traps may be laid, plots hatched, elaborate schemes set forth. The joy is in watching the two participants at work, be that battle or cunning.

If only one of the characters has an asterisk, that character is handicapped in the following way-- they get no advance notice of the tournament or who their opponent is. This effectively gives their opponent a 24-hour head start.

Voters are strongly encouraged to provide a synopsis

I have to go with iron man here. Giving Iron Man 24 hours to prepare is giving him full access to his arsenal. Tony may not get much credit as a planner but he can think his way to a victory. Right now im thinking of Iron man like batmans utility belt. Shark repellent anyone? The Same principal applies for Iron man.

I think my vote goes to iron man based on that but i could be convinced the other way around.

Not to convince you, but the same can be said for Mr Terrific, and he sorta specializes in taking down electronics-based threats.

There was an arc where Iron Man fought chess based villians. The Bishop used some kind of mind control & almost won. Mr.T could do something similar.

Heh, since Mr. Terrific is invisble to all electronics, Iron man will have to do all of his targetting manually.

He'll have a worse Attack Value than the rookie Iron man from X-Plosion.

Before I vote can I get a bit more info on Mr T? I know he can fight well but not against Ironman. What can he do with his remote T-spheres? How many of them does he have? How far away does he have to be to remote controll them? Saving my vote till I can get an answer to these questions.

while i think their minds are on similar levels, their bodies aren't. i think they'd be able to cancel out each other's tech. and if they did that, mrT gets the victory.

I vote Mr Terrific.

First, I assume in a shared universe that they know each other pretty well-- and to me, that means Mr T has alrady been thinking of how to take down IM. Not that Tony doesn't realize this, but I think MT can outhtingk him on the short term.

That, coupled with his ability to not be seen by electronics, means IM is fighting with a serious handicap. Mr T to make things worse by hacking Stark's systems during the 24 hours and seeing just what armor is being taken out of storage, and planning countermeasures accodingly.

Mr Terrific for the win. His invisibilty to electiorics/tech and his super genius level mind there's no way he won't win. All he'd have to do is program one of his T-Spheres withsome kind of computer virus and have it infect Iron Man. Oh, and Mr. Terrific normally has around 4-6 of his T-Spheres if I recall.

I'm gonna go for Mr.Terriffic

I couldn't imagine what scietific lengths this battle would take, but Holt has two advantages that I think are key. The first is Holt's invisibility to technology, this is a serious detriment to someone like Tony who is so dependent upon technology, haveing to rely totally upon his own senses and reflexs is a big disadvantage, this will also allow Terrific to pick the battlefield. The second is Holt's borader range of knowledge, Stark has always seemed a mechanical spcialist to me, while Mr.Terrific shows genius level ability in a huge range of disciplines, from the mechanical, to the bilogical, all the way to theoretical physics, this will allow Holt a broader spectrum of plans to chose from to use against Tony.

It should be noted, that Tony rarely uses his armor's targeting systems, and is an excellent shot without them. Being 'invisible' to tech won't do a whole lot of good, since Tony only relies on it when he has to.

Tony is not just a mechanical wizzard, he's probably the worlds foremost electronics specialist. The only people smarter then Tony in Marvel are Doom, and Reed, and Tony isn't that far behind them.

He's fought all manner of tech and anti-tech people before. A longer career, and a grueling determination to win would carry him through.

Tony would have more tricks up his sleeve than you could dream of.

Iron Man takes it in a good match, but one in which the outcome is not really in doubt.

Tony Stark is brilliant but Michael Holt is BRILLIANT

Also, outside of the armour, Tony is, well, pathetic

Michael is an olympic athlete
