Clix vs. Comix TOC! 46-50pts. Round 2 Match 1: OBSIDIAN VS. SOLOMAN GRUNDY
All Round 1 Matches are now closed. Let's start Round 2!
I was playing Heroclix the other day, and building my team, I had 103 points left. I looked at my selection and realized that U HT Batman and R IC Hulk both cost the same. This got me thinking. Just because they are Heroclix equals doesn’t translate back translate back to comics. I think most of us would agree that Hulk could beat Batman in a fight.
That is the idea for this tournament. Every entry will be close to the same amount of points Heroclix wise, but this will be their comic forms fighting!
Rules:
This will be a standard single elimination tournament with 32 combatants. There will be 2 to a fight. They get no knowledge of each other (unless they have fought in the past). The only thing they get is the Heroclix figure of there enemies, and a PAC so they know what the opponent looks like and a bit about what they can do (this can be misleading however, like if they face Electro and think he will try to poison them). They will have 5 minutes to prepare. This is a fight to the death or KO, whichever happens first, and they must fight (no waiting for the opponent to die of starvation or for the terrain to dispose of them). They have with them what they normally carry and what there fig has if it is different. (Like how Bullseye doesn’t carry a gun, but he has one on the fig). If the fig that is being used is the rookie, you do NOT have to treat the fighter like that. (unless the characters powers change dramatically ie: Rouge)
When you vote, please try to justify your answer. You don’t have to write an essay, just a short explanation will do.

OBSIDIAN
The son of the original Green Lantern Alan Scott, Todd Rice was put up for adoption. His power to create the living shadow force manifested early as he used it to escape his abusive foster home. Re-uniting with his sister, Jade, Obsidian joined the hero team Infinity Inc. However, the darkness he wielded overwhelmed him and he allied himself with Mordru and Eclipso in a plot to plunge the Earth into darkness. His father defeated him but whether he emerges from the experience a hero or villain is yet to be seen.
SOLOMON GRUNDY
In 1894, Cyrus Gold was killed and left to rot in a Gotham City swamp. Over the next half century, the mold and muck grew around Gold's skeleton, creating new life as the zombie Solomon Grundy. Grundy is super strong and possesses near-mindless rage which takes him on a path of destruction. Grundy has fought the original Green Lantern, the Batman and the JSA on several occasions and is responsible for the death of the hero the golden age Star-Spangled Kid.
Or in other words, prior to him becoming a JSA-smacking SHW as opposed to a semi-solid shadow person.
This is actually kind-of a funny match-up as these two _hate_ each other with a passion. Todd's ability to "emotionally chill" is kind-of wasted on Grundy too, sadly.
Still not giving up on Someday. "Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

And the terrain won't bother Obsidian while it will interfere with Grundy. It'll take him a long time to wear Grundy down, but I think he will.
Well, Obsidian only has the power to take "most competition" in his current version which isn't the one in the tournament (as Mags and I were talking about earlier in the thread ). This version is actually maybe MW at most.
The thing that bothers me about Todd's chances is that he is semi-solid and can be struck by a powerful enough force (something Grundy has in spades). I'm not sure Grundy would entirely pass through Obsidian and that makes it pretty darn dangerous for Mr. Rice.

SOLOMAN GRUNDY
Soloman can clean up the terrain so stupid moving steps stop moving. Also even if obsidian could phase through grundy's attacks he has no counter attacks strong enough to dent grundy. And i know who's going to tire first
My vote grundy
If you hurt inside, get certified, and if life should treat you bad... don't get ee-ee-even get mad!

I don't think Todd and hurt Grundy to much in his early carnation and eventually Grundy is going to hit him and hit him hard. Lights out Mr. Rice. Grundy to the next round.
