Clix vs. Comix TOC! 51-55pts. Round 1 Match 8: MOLE MAN VS. CYCLOPS
Death and Jesse Quick are STILL tied!
I was playing Heroclix the other day, and building my team, I had 103 points left. I looked at my selection and realized that U HT Batman and R IC Hulk both cost the same. This got me thinking. Just because they are Heroclix equals doesn’t translate back translate back to comics. I think most of us would agree that Hulk could beat Batman in a fight.
That is the idea for this tournament. Every entry will be close to the same amount of points Heroclix wise, but this will be their comic forms fighting!
Rules:
This will be a standard single elimination tournament with 32 combatants. There will be 2 to a fight. They get no knowledge of each other (unless they have fought in the past). The only thing they get is the Heroclix figure of there enemies, and a PAC so they know what the opponent looks like and a bit about what they can do (this can be misleading however, like if they face Electro and think he will try to poison them). They will have 5 minutes to prepare. This is a fight to the death or KO, whichever happens first, and they must fight (no waiting for the opponent to die of starvation or for the terrain to dispose of them). They have with them what they normally carry and what there fig has if it is different. (Like how Bullseye doesn’t carry a gun, but he has one on the fig). If the fig that is being used is the rookie, you do NOT have to treat the fighter like that. (unless the characters powers change dramatically ie: Rouge)
When you vote, please try to justify your answer. You don’t have to write an essay, just a short explanation will do.

MOLE MAN
All that is known of Rupert 's previous life is that he was shunned by the world because of his homeliness. He discovered Monster Island in the Bermuda Triangle and the entrance to Subterranea. Mastering the Moloid race, he used their technology to strike back at the surface world. After being defeated by the Fantastic Four, he reformed and began building a sanctuary for those rejected by the surface world. His attempts failed, and he returned to his old ways, attempting to destroy the world's financial centers during operation "Shakedown" which was thwarted by the Defenders. Mole Man is an expert geographer, spelunker, and is a master of both Moloid weapons and the giant monsters of Monster Isle.
CYCLOPS
Scott Summers has had many trials as the leader of the X-men. His wife Jean Grey was presumed dead and resurrected, His brother Havok has been both ally and adversary. His "future" children, Cable, Phoenix and Stryfe, have alternately tried to save or kill him. And let's not forget his mortal enemies like Magneto! Kept in check only by his ruby-quartz goggles, Cyclops can project a powerful optic blast that can deal with these threats and more!
"hey cyclops fear me and my army of monster, my fast spulunking skills!" -rupers
"hey, umm, you realize it's just me and you right?" -scott
Ah, but it's not. Check the terrain description: beneath these poles are [sic] a void holding the most evil things ever. If this were Magneto and he pulled a battlefield full of metal, everyone would agree that it would be Mags in a wash. Here we've got Mole Man in a battlefield full of subterranean monsters - how is that any different? I agree that anywhere else, Scott probably takes this one with ease. But we're talking about a fight in Mole Man's back yard - I don't think Scott would ever even see him. Rupert for the win.

first, that's a big leap from "most evil thing ever" to mole's man creatures. most evil thing ever would could be anything. and if the past appearances of mole man's creatures are indiciative, they are certainly not the most evil thing ever. i don't assume they are mole man's monsters for that reason.
secondly, mole man needs to knock scott off. which he'd need to get close enough to do. and i highly doubt that would happen.

I'd like Magnito to clarify this, as it may change my vote to Moley man. But I currently read that as a void of evil things, not subterranean monsters. And Mole Man needs to tame them, regardless.
Also, considering they're all walking on thin poles, I find it hard to believe that Mole Man has ANYTHING to hide behind.
But if Magnito were to clarify that they WERE in fact subterranean creatures and that Mole Man can summon them, then you've got me.

No taming necessary - that's what Deviant technology is for.

Not behind - under. Rupert would feel all kinds of exposed topside. He's a master spelunker, meaning he'd be totally at home using climbing techniques to move from pole to pole (say, at a depth of six to ten feet). Even without his monster buddies, Rupert could use his enhanced senses to track (or lie in wait for) Scott. One poke from ambush with an electrified quarterstaff later, and Scott is a paralyzed mass of monster food. There's a reason why ranged attacks don't work against Stealth in the game...
With a guy as chunky as Moleman, Scott won't be expecting the ambushfrom below. I can definately see MM climbing the poles several feet down and getting the jump on Scott.
A vote the the thing in the void is a creature, and MM can use his technology to command it will only further inforce my descision.
Anyways, I can see Moleman winning this most of the time.
This is not the greatest quote in the world, this is just a tribute.
