WizKids Layoffs
From Marc Lore, Chief Operating Officer of WizKids:

"Dear Hobby Game Community,
Due to changing demands within our industry and within our own company, WizKids is reorganizing to strengthen itself within the marketplace. Unfortunately, this brought about a tough decision to have a reduction in force. This is necessary to realign overheads with revenues as well as refocus our resources on the functions that we believe will create value to the industry and growth for our company.

These steps are necessary for the long term health of WizKids., and will allow us to focus on our core Brands of Battlestar Galactica, HeroClix, HorrorClix, MechWarrior and Pirates. Our company is firmly committed to supporting the Core Hobby Game industry and plans to serve this industry for years to come.

WizKids’ commitment to innovation and excellence has not changed and we look forward to working with all of the folks that make this industry great to help transform the marketplace once more into one that is vibrant and exciting.

In the next few weeks, we will share with you the results of our deliberations, and our plans for the future of the great games you have come to know and love."

Wow and I just tried Race Day the other day and it was maybe one of their best names. Oh well I can now pick up boosters cheap.

No need to freak that just means no Race Day, Rocketman, or Highstakes Drifter lines. No big lose.

Well at least they are upfront about it.

I'd been reading on their boards about Rocketmen and Raceday basically dying but I didn't think things were bad. Just some failed products is all.

I wonder what this means for Brand/Community Manager positions they had recently created?

Toonclix?
a lunch room in a school with Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman sitting at the cool kids table. Then seeing Cosmic Spidey walk up to Supes and saying "You're in my seat". Then seeing a embarrassed Superman get up with his head held down and taking his tray else where.

I'm not freaking, so much as realizing how a few things here and there point to this announcement.

Raceday
Creepy Freeks
Shadowrun
Crimson Skies
MLB Sports clix
Rocketmen
Highstakes Drifter
Toon Clix (may not even Launch)

Too much new stuff too soon.

Well I will look on the bright side. With all these changes maybe we will get 2 DC sets a year now.

I actually bought a starter of Highstakes Drifter when it came out and haven't played the game once. No one is around to play it or has any interest in it any more.

It's sad to see games die off, but that's what happens when no one plays.

Let's just hope this means WizKids will dedicate a lot more time and money on fixing issues with their top supported game Heroclix and less on trying to come up with the next new game to shove down our throats that ends up being wasted money for both of us and them.

Well the good news with that list is:
Creepy Freeks (hasn't been made for a long time)
Shadowrun (hasn't been made for a long time)
Crimson Skies (was already shut down)
MLB Sports clix (ditt0)
Rocketmen (I thought this one was popular, but guess not)
Highstakes Drifter (ok)
Toon Clix (may not even Launch) (I prefer this not launching. Just mess with the horroclix for now)

Well, I bet this was one of the reasons Brother Mags might have left. I am sure Wizkids employees saw the writing on the wall well before we became aware of it.

Sorry to hear about that Draddog, especially right after the new daughter.
Good Luck with your transition.

Now that Draddog has been "reorged", does that mean anything for the status of the Realms?
