Round 3

I was playing Heroclix one day. While building my team, I looked at my selection for 103pts characters and realized that U HT Batman and R IC Hulk both cost the same. This got me thinking. Just because they are Heroclix equals doesn’t translate back to comics. I think most of us would agree that Hulk could beat Batman in a fight.

That is the idea for this tournament. Every entry will be close to the same amount of points Heroclix wise, but this will be their comic forms fighting!

Rules:
This will be a standard single elimination tournament with 32 combatants. There will be 2 to a fight. They get no knowledge of each other (unless they have fought in the past). The only thing they get is the Heroclix figure of there enemies, and a PAC so they know what the opponent looks like and a bit about what they can do (this can be misleading however, like if they face Electro and think he will try to poison them). They will have 5 minutes to prepare. This is a fight to the death or KO or a 1 minute complete incapacitate, whichever happens first, and they must fight (no waiting for the opponent to die of starvation or for the terrain to dispose of them). They have with them what they normally carry and what there fig has if it is different. (Like how Bullseye doesn’t carry a gun, but he has one on the fig). If the fig that is being used is the rookie, you do NOT have to treat the fighter like that. (unless the characters powers change dramatically ie: Rouge)

When you vote, please try to justify your answer. You don’t have to write an essay, just a short explanation will do.

Once Flash's ally, Hunter Zolomon was an FBI profiller specializing in supervillains. After being crippled and divorced, Hunter moved to Keystone City and just as life seemed to improve, he was paralyzed by Gorilla Grodd. He asked Flash to travel back in time to change the outcome of the encounter, but Flash refused. Hunter attempted to use Barry Allen's time travelling Cosmic Treadmill to go back himself, but the device exploded. Hunter was transformed into Zoom the second Reverse Flash. He can move as fast as the Flash, steal speed from others and rip pockets in time. He was responsible for the death of Flash's unborn child and has recently allied himself with Luthor's new society of villains. Zoom's twisted agenda is to make Flash a better hero by causing him as much pain and suffering as possible!

The twin sister of Billy Batson, amnesiac Mary Bromfeld grew up ignorant of her past after her parents were murdered. However, her memory returned during a kidnapping and, with the help of the wizard Shazam, gained super powers. By saying the name of "Shazam," Mary gains all of the powers of Captain Marvel - wisdom, strength, stamina, courage and flight.

I'll tentatively vote for Mary Marvel. She has the strength and durability to withstand an assault from Zoom, and the wisdom to figure out a way to defeat him. Having the speed of Mercury will be a help either. She can't match Zoom, but she won't be a sitting target either. Unfortunately pyramid will remove her flight advantage.

I'll also side with Mary (though tentatively). Her speed and strength are a good asset here, along with invulnerability. Zoom is faster than she is, but at least she stands somewhat a chance of keeping up with him. And all it will likely take is one hit from her to put him out.

My Vote: Mary Marvel.

Actually, I'd say that the pyramid is a boon: She can easily use her strength to re-arrange it so there's no run-space and Zoom has to slow down a little. Still don't know if she can win, though, Zoom is *really* powerful.

Zoom wouldn't have to slow down at all. Mary would, Zoom wouldn't.

This is due to their speed. Mary has speed. Zoom doesn't. Zoom has relative speed.

If anything, this terrain gives Zoom an advantage.

So what are Zooms powers now? (I always thought he was an evil Flash). He doesnt have superspeed, he has time manipulation, which makes it look like hes running at superspeed? Any idea what he could do to a flying, magical brick like Mary Marvel here?

Gotta say a big no to your therory here.

Superman, who would have been moving at his top super-speed to try to assist Flash, was a statue floating in the air when Flash was trying to keep up with Zoom. If Superman's top speed is "sitting target," Mary's is too.

This is why I haven't voted yet - can Zoom take down a massively invulnerable target like Mary (or the earlier debated Juggernaut)? This could be a draw if she can't touch him and he can't hurt her...

Note Superman didn't *know* about the fight. I think that was him just flying around on normal patrol.

Not that Mary and Supes aren't still much slower, just saying that likely wasn't Supes on dead full.

The old Zoom was pretty much just evil Flash. The new one works with Time Manipulation.

Most of his tricks seem to be about creating sonic booms. Some of which can take out buildings and such. I think he could take her out, but I'm just not sure, as he's only really fought Wonder Woman as far as bricks go.

I'm going to have to go check out that fight and then vote.

My vote Zoom.
Although I am not convince he can take out Juggy. I think he can beat Mary. First off Mary is not even go to see Zoom if he dosent want her too. Second he could pretty much bring the whole Pyramid down on her and it wouldnt affect him as he would even interatc with it. In a wide open space i might Mary but ina place he can bring down with out harming himself he will win hands down.

The pyramid collapsing will kill Zoom, as he can't leave it. It's collapse probably won't even KO Mary.

She lands one hit on Zoom, he's out.

In Zoom's battle with Wonder Woman, he ended up losing because she knew his powerset, and that she just had to geuss where he would be next. Mary can do the same thing.

Hold on...Wonder Woman beat Zoom! So it is not only possible, but someone very close to Mary in abilities can do it. Mary may now be as hard core as Diana, but Diana won due to brains, and Mary has that whole wisdom of Soloman thing going on. I'm still unconvinced that Zoom could even hurt Mary, and I now think she could take him out. My vote...
