We missed a Halloween contest this year, and I don't want Christmas to pass us up without a proper modding celebration.

The entry criteria:

1) any mod that is holiday themed.

The judging for mods will be done in two parts, popular vote and peer vote.
With two sections to each part, Content and Craftsmanship.
Each section will have its own winner, with the Grand Prize winner being chosen from among those four.

four winners:
content/peer ; craftsmanship/peer ; content/popular ; craftsmanship/popular

those winners will get first grab at the prize pool. The Grand Prize Winner gets first pick, and in addition to that will receive a trophy.

Everyone else will get a christmas present from the prize pool just for entering!

I'll get to work on making a list of the prizes I have on hand. If you want to help with gathering more, PM me. The more prizes I get, the larger the winners' and participants' prize packs will be.


I want this to be as inclusive as possible. New modders are definitely welcome and I don't want to scare anyone off because of lack of artistic talent. Give it a shot, and who knows... maybe your idea will be the funny or clever one that people like the most.

The Deadline is December 13th which is 12 days before Christmas

maybe mods of characters that have been seen in holiday garb. like spidey in the santa hat or stuff liekthat. with ref pix of where they have seen the characters rendered in gay appareal? there are tons of holiday art pieces with characters dressed up. maybe ssome catagories like single clix, diaromas that recreate the original art pieces and maybe a fantasy catagory? something fun you know.not a ton of rules or hoops to jump through. and an easy way to figure who wins.

This sounds like a good start to me.

There has been a Santa Hulk posted on here before and I liked it quite a bit. I think that any mod that has a christmas-y or holiday theme would work just fine.

pretty much anything thematic would work. One piece entry minimum (obviously) with more preference given to teams.
Scoring done via open poll, with extra consideration for creativity of ideas and craft of mods.

I enjoyed reading the first contest so much, I promised myself to try participating in the second, so I thought I'd offer my two cents.

What I loved about the different interpertations of characters before was plucking them from out of the breadth of comic history. The Lex Luthors, for example, were fun to see. So how about suggesting a single Hero or Villian and then have contestants do a version from some Winter Holiday? Santa Hulk, Hanukkah Hulk, or the Hulk Who Stole Christmas would all be fun to see and challenging to make.

Ha! I vote the Hulk who stole X-mas. I'll mod a Hulk stuck in a chimney. I think Spiderman or Venom had one that would make it comical. (i.e.-Big Hulk, small chimney)

and since its a winter contest it should probably be finished before the new year.

yeah, for sure. I think the deadline should be 12 days before christmas.... that's plenty of time to make a decent mod.

is it going to be open voting or just those who mod. or will it be all the votes by the contestents pick their winner and all the non contestents pic thier winner then those 2 battle it out if they arent the same winner?

well its been a month since i moved and about time to dig the mod stuff out and get back to work...(now if only i could get my buddy to remember to bring his camera so i can take pics of my mods from the last 5-6 months )

I'm fairly new to the posting thing...do we post the picures to this thread? I guess I'm asking what do I do to join in?

i guesst hats one of the kinks to work out. id think that posting pix shoudl wait until a specific date and then there is like a few days to vote. and pix posted after that day arent eligible and if you cant host youre own pix maybe someone can post all of them somewhere like photobucket.

i guess these are the particulars that need addresed:
guidlines on what the mods should be. how much should be modded etc

when it starts and when is the last day for submissions

who can vote. how to vote. just count every vote or have a modders and everyone else vote then a face off?

any prizes? i liked the puppetmaster awards from years ago. braggin rights!!!

Sounds like fun. Here are my suggestions.

1). No entry fee.
2). Strict deadline and completion date.
3). Two stage voting. Straight popular voting hasn't worked in the past. Just the contestants is too limiting.
4). Fun, it's all about the fun.
