CvsC 141-165 R1M14: BETA RAY BILL VS. YELLOWJACKET
Dr. Fate was outmatched again it seems as he falls to Black Adam.
I was playing Heroclix one day. While building my team, I looked at my selection for 103pts characters and realized that U HT Batman and R IC Hulk both cost the same. This got me thinking. Just because they are Heroclix equals doesn’t translate back to comics. I think most of us would agree that Hulk could beat Batman in a fight.
Thus, the Clix vs. Comix TOC was born! Every entry will be close to the same amount of points Heroclix wise, but this will be their comic forms fighting!
Rules:
The only thing these fighters get is the Heroclix figure of there enemies, and a PAC so they know what the opponent looks like and a bit about what they can do. They will have 5 minutes to prepare. This is a fight to the death, KO or 1 minute complete incapacitate, whichever happens first. They also must fight (no waiting for the terrain to dispose of them). They have with them what they normally carry and what there fig has if it is different. If the fig that is being used is the rookie, you do NOT have to treat the fighter like that. (unless the characters powers change dramatically ie: Rouge). All terrains are circular with a 5 mile diameter.
When you vote, justify your answer. You don’t have to write an essay, just a short explanation will do.
I would like to thank Whoclix for the bios, ‘cause I could never write ones like that myself.
Terrain: Green Hellby hail_eris
Dense tropical foliage limits both visibility and movement at ground level, while stifling heat and humidity sap the endurance of even the strongest warrior. Easier passage can be found in a network of vines and branches that form a lower canopy roughly 30 feet above the jungle floor (the local wildlife has figured out this trick as well, and arboreal predators are a common sight). A river (approx. 50 feet wide) bisects the battlefield - its dark, still surface conceals both its depth and any potential hazards that may lurk below. (inspired by Apocalypse Now)

Beta Ray Bill vs. Yellowjacket:
BETA RAY BILLWikipedia
The champion of the "Burning Galaxy," Bill fought against Thor when pursued by Surtur's demons. When Thor dropped his hammer and Bill picked it up, he transformed into a Thor-like being, blessed with similar abilities by the Asgardian god Odin. Bill has since returned the Mlojiner to Thor and was given his own hammer: "Storm Breaker." Bill has all of the powers of Thor including flight, great strength and can summon lightning.
YELLOWJACKET (Henry)Wikipedia
After creating particles that allow him to grow and shrink, Henry Pym started a crime-fighting career as Ant-Man where he helped form the Avengers. However, accidental exposure to strange gasses created a secondary personality: Yellowjacket. Pym kidnapped his girlfriend, Janet Van Dyne aka the Wasp, and married her! His tenure as Yellowjacket was marked with highs and lows, including depression, creating Ultron, spousal abuse and a nervous breakdown. He feigned joining the Masters of Evil to infiltrate their schemes and eventually rejoined the Avengers in hopes of restoring his tarnished reputation. Pym uses a variety of devices in his fight against evil including a helmet that allows him to control ants, wings that allow him to fly, electrical blasting stingers and the ability to grow and shrink himself and objects at will.
Beta Ray Bill annihilates the carp out of Yellowjacket.
Like Thor, Bill is a warrior. Unlike Thor, Bill has no qualms about unleashing the full might and power of Stormbreaker on his foes. Pym has no chance of ever winning any fight with him. As soon as Bill cuts loose (and he doesn't seem to have a problem cutting loose), it's over.
Beta Ray Bill for the win all the time every time (heck, he strikes me as someone who would nape the arena if need be to fight his foe, ie destroy the forest to win the fight).
"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"
Yellowjacket is an #######.
I don't vote for wife beating "superheros" on principle, but it doesn't matter cause hes gonna get his butt handed to him here.
Beta Ray Bill to advance.

I do feel Beta-Ray will take this fight - though he's a bit more honourable than people are giving him credit for being (i.e. he isn't just about wholesale destruction, I feel) and there are a _few_ advantages Hank can use here (he's defeated Dr. Blake-era Thor at least once in large part because of insect army and surprise assaults and a jungle is a very ideal place for that) - and that, frankly, he's going to go far in this tournament as he should (and YJ shouldn't as he's just not in the power-category that makes for interesting matches this tourney).
Reason I quoted you though - or I could've gone with St. Dumas - is that I do suggest folks read up a bit on the "wife beating" incident. Not condoning what Hank did but too many folks have only read comments like that or figure 616 is like Ultimate Hank and there were most assuredly "circumstances" involved in the -one- time Hank hit her (after previous occasions of being under mind-control where he would -not- raise a hand against Jan)...such as the fact that he was stark-raving crazy from a mental breakdown by that point (later revealed to be because his mind had snapped from a mental battle with Kang - Kang thought he could break Hank the easiest of all the Avengers and found out otherwise). Again, not condoning what Hank did but he's hardly someone who was out there aiming to be abusive.
Still not giving up on Someday. "Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

I would say it has to do with the fact he's the ONLY hero/super weapon of his race, and their sole means of protection. As such he doesn't have the luxury of holding back most of the time.

I miss when he used to run around with his version of "Space Battleship Yamato" backing him up.
I do agree with you. I would add, though, that I also suspect it isn't just that Bill doesn't have the same luxury but also isn't as arrogant as Thor - Thor screws around in battle far too often because he's sure the "mere mortal" can't best him (one reason Hank -was- able to defeat him) whereas Bill knows that anyone can be defeated if they don't always try to bring their A-game.

My vote: Beta Ray Bill
I find it kinda amusing that you hold that against Hank, and yet, you are one of Joker's biggest supposrts in these things, and he has tried to kill Harly more then once.
Is it because he is a hero, and supposed to know better? Because villans continue to get votes around here and they have done things much worce.
Anyways, I do agree with you vote (along with everyone elce's vote). Bill is many times more powerful then YJ, and should take this nearly every time if not every time. My vote...
BETA RAY BILL
(actually it is a villain vs. hero thing - we mock Iron Man for his drinking yet never have we said anything about any of the villains and their habits. It's the age old dichotomy of good vs. evil, hero vs. villain - we hold heroes to a higher degree of morality, hence, they should know better than to drink or spousal abuse. Villains - we expect them to do it. But not heroes. It is what happened in Kingdom Come and Superman's speech to the UN in the end - we see heroes as some sort of God-like figure and treat them as such. When they act in a non-perfect fashion, we mock and make fun and point it out.)
