It's this simple people. If you don't have something positive or nice to reply with. If you don't have relevant information.
DO NOT REPLY!
I've had a few times this year, and I've seen it on other threads as well, where people just stop by to be rude, snarky, or otherwise non-productive. Comments like "No one will trade for that carp." or "Why not just throw your stuff out?"
Lordy! I was only asking if someone knew a few websites this week. Tuns out it was a capitol crime I guess.
Keep in mind I'm not talking about kind hearted joking and teasing. I'm talking about people going out of their way to be obnoxious for the day. As if they need to share their bad mood with everybody else.
Only you can control diareah of the keyboard. If you've got nothing nice to say, or are not interested in a subject, just don't reply. Use your energy to find something that does. Don't taint other people's trade threads or questions with negative comments.
PS: This has no relation for those bagging on me about Sailor Moon. I take those lumps gladly. LOL!
We assume this thread is response to your question about VS cards.
We understand your side, as we too have " inherited", some VS cards, Magic Cards & Pokemon (along with a couple of Sailor Moon stickers...lol.. we will save for next trade/sale)
We have NO interest in buying a price guide and sifting through 100s of cards to find they are worth pennies a piece. Neither the time, nor the desire. As no mention that any "valuable" cards were present we just assume most are commons.
You have a few choices-
1) REturn the card to your friend (perhaps he knows the value)
2) Take the cards to your local shop (offer in trade)
- that will usually let you know if you have any nuggets. If they are not interested- they will say.
--Whatever price is offered its lowball- say no and walkaway- if there is anything worthwhile they will increase the offer or ask you for a price--> Art of negotiation (Always be willing to walk away)
3) Buy an Inquest or similar magazine and kill a few hours
4) Check some online trades and see which cards people ask for (ie without knowing about clix rarity - one can see auctions and trade threads for the most desirable)
You have a point about not helpful/rude threads remarks- and we have felt the urge too when we see people offer carp for gems and are surprised when nobody bites.
We have also seen the countless what is this figure worth thread?- and also feel like saying - go check ebay for what people have (or havent )paid for it. Or those that say is this a good trade? We understand that there are always new people who don't understand the monetary value- however- personal desirability is also a factor- and as we like to say- something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it-Period.
Or those that feel they need to endlessly bump their own thread everyday (because nobody is responding and they selfishly want to be at the top)
As this was posted in trade discussion- it should have been addressed as such. If you had listed all the cards and they were all commons- someone in the know would probably have said so- people who dump on others are the same ones who wonder why they can't get a chase figure in exchange for a Rookie Mano and a Vet Robotman.
Add the non-helpful to your ignore feature (ours has over 20+, mostly with traders unwilling to send to Canada, but also people we have found rude or that have nothing uselful to say)
Take it easy & Good Luck
What would our itrader score be if sellers posted feedback, before waiting for us? . We are Canadian and as such we deal International.
People around here do that in more than just the trading forums. There's people hopping in and out of threads with sometimes the most ignorant, rude, or useless statements. It's one of the reasons I wish (as a free user) I could give negative rep...
I may keep the cards after all, but I'll see. I had picked up some to play pick up games when there was no one to play Clix with, but I found the VS crowd at our venue (outside of a couple of older friends) to be very cut throat and unsportsmanlike. As opposed to our incredible Heroclix club which has run on the premise of making everything fun for five years now. Yes there are hard core HC players, but ours have never been mean, and are eager to teach what they know.
I'll probably fine tune my Fantastic Four deck for rainy days with friends and give the rest away.
Torontcollectr. Keep the SM stickers warm for when Avengers comes out. LOL! I have come to worship at the feet of Naoko Takeuchi. I only wish I could read Japanese so I could enjoy her other works as well.
I had gotten all three of the AD&D trading cards (Prior the Spellfire) sets.. Took FOREVER to get the 60 chase cards.. That was around 1998. Looking at a site for D&D metal minis and found a guy who was begging for cards about 2002. Traded a bunch of my cards for some SWEET figures..
Hold on and wait..
Me and another guy on THIS site started scouring for Mage Knight about 6 months ago.. He was faster and got more You never know when someone will get an itch for an older game..
Hold on and wait..
AND advice to you not so nice people: You never know when you'll burn a bridge with your snide comments.. Briel has done me some fantastic trades in the past.. Maybe he's not as bad as me but you 'chirpers' (Got nothing to say but feel the need to be heard) get ignored pretty fast.. I got what you want? Too bad all I'll ever do is delete your pm's since your ignored..
Friendly and old advice- Got nothing to say then say nothing
Wow, I need to sleep
Ok its all coming down to me wanting just one more:
The best thing about earinfection is there ain't no cure, and I don't want one. LOL! Thanks good buddy!
What really saddens my heart sometimes is my almost complete collection of Champions books just collecting dust on the shelf. There just isn't enough time nowadays for RPG's. How did we ever make the time when we were younger? Oh yeah. I didn't used to have to sleep back in my twenties.
