Keyword: Scientist, Politician
Speed- Jet Pack: This character can use Charge and Leap/Climb.
Attack- "Lights Off": This character has Earthbound and Stealth.

I recently started reading this book. Its about an engineer, Mitchell Hundred, who gets blasted in the face by what appears to be alien tech and gains the ability to talk to machines. Along with that ability he also has a greater understanding of technology in general, which leads to crazy inventions. To make a long story short, having grown up a comic book fan he sees this as his chance to become a real life Superhero. So he creates a tech'ed out uniform and a jet pack and goes out saving lives everyday. He later becomes Mayor of New York City, which is one of the main points of the story, but thats a different clix.

Love the book, but the Great Machine was kind of a lame hero. I mean every flashback they show is him screwing something up and barely pulling out a minor victory. He shouldn't be that fast, more like 10MV tops with the jetback, and only for two clicks, then Earthbound. His AVs should cap out at 8 (be can't really fight or shoot to save his own life), and his DVs at 15.

In a post-Origin world, "it's only the R/E version" is no longer any excuse for poor stats.

Maybe give him a special attack power.
"The Great Machine has Outwit and Mind Control. He can only target characters with the Robot, Armour, or Armoured keywordsl."

Edit: I've tinkered a bit with it.

if batman can move 10 a guy with a rocket can do 12.
Wizkids standards not mine, and 9 is average attack value.
if I made Krem' and those guys maybe 8s on AVs.
I also had to make him worth 100 pts.

That special power is coolj I thought of it just didnt know how to word it, but thats a pretty good job thanx to you both.

That's not really how it works. 12 with flight is actually really fast, like 300-400mph+

No, it's not. 9 is fairly average for a well-trained super hero or someone with powers that makes it easier to hit people. Mitchell is poorly trained and his powers don't help his aim any. Fairly untrained people top out at 8. Krem could get a 9, Bradbury would get two 9s. Either could kick Hundred's ###.

In real life? Like 30mph or something. In that book? I don't know, but he was in an open modified biker's helmet and leathers, was completely non-aerodynamic, and his jetpack was pretty jerry-rigged, based on it's performance I'd rate it at between 60 and 200mph, tops, probably much closer to 100. Most Heroclix fliers in that speed range are 8-10 MV. It's worth noting that Heroclix traditionally gives out lower MVs to fliers, relative to their speed, than grounded characters, presumably to make up for them being able to ignore terrain. Also, 0-10 is fairly linear, with 10 grounded being roughly as fast as an olyimpian can run, but anything beyond that starts to get exponentially faster, especially if move-and-attack comes into play. Speed if a funky system in Heroclix.

Wizkids standards when it comes to movement and speed is awful!! It is the most skewed combat value. Period!

Good job! I think you've made a good Ex Machina.

What do you guys think of the "Jetpack" Power, I was originally thinking free break away, but as I looked at it the "Leap Climb" addition frees up so many possible ways for him to be a hit and run piece cus he can hit from soaring, or can he?

CRAZY

Yeah, free breakaway and hit can hit from soaring. It is a versitile power. Hmm. It also seems to be compatible with Charge, so I don't see why you couldn't charge to soaring and attack from there. Kinda evil for grounded bricks.
