I play at a small venue in a college town in Missouri, most of the players are relatively new( as in started in the sinister/cd timeframe) and was just wondering id anyone could give me any advice as to boost the attendence at our regular games. I'm at the moment a pending level 1 judge and our venue is id great as for prize support and whatnot, all the players are friendly but we can't seem to break the 6 person barrier for attendence. As it stands right now even playing a theme team which should be slaughtered I can't seem to keep any new people in the events. Any advice as to what I or the venue could do to help keep new people in the game would be appreciated. As a side note we have an overabundace of magic players that I just cant entice to even try to play, even with the understanding that they don't need to have their own figs...I have more than enough to go around. Suggestions? Ideas? Random thoughts not on the subject?
Guys i know you've looked at this......i'll put out one last ploy...if anyone knows a person attending the University of Central Missouri....have them send me an email at [email protected] .....its desperate i know but i need people to keep the blood fresh.
ask to your players what theme ideas they will like to play.
-a game with eveybody have Swords, maybe only Magic?
they like Heroes? do a "Save the cheerleader" game with figures what looks or have powers like the Heroes chartacters.
-Organize Comic book battles about comic book storylines what everybody will like like Planet Hulk, Civil War etc. keep the ears open to hear what they like and do a game about it!
-Ask if they can help you to build something for evreybody, like a 3D map or something what everyody will share.
-Ask what day are bether for the players. a lot of players work or have a life (not all of them but.. )and they can have a day were they specially will enjoy play clix without the presion of work or school.
-if you have extra clixs give aways to the new players, soo new players will always show up, at least for get figs for the regular players (ey! that can work and maybe one of them stay as a regular).
for last keep in mind what sometimes even with work you can have only a few regulars (In my venue there is only 4 to 6 regulars and not always they show up, myself I'm not going sinse 2 months) but even with just a few regular you all can't have fun anyways.
