It can make ranged attacks against any target in range that it can draw line of fire to, regardless of adjacency. If you're on the turret and based by someone, you can still "shoot out" of the adjacency. This is the only instance in which you can do this other than colossal figures (as far as I'm aware).

Actually, a soaring figure can fire out of adjacency, too.
For the reason why: Only -characters- are unable to shoot out of adjacency. The laser turret is not a character.

But only when 'adjacent' to a non-elevated figure (which is, technically, not adjacent), right? They can't shoot out of adjacency with another soaring figure, can they?
Dang. And here I thought I was pretty straightened out on my adjacency issues. Back to the books!

No, they can fire out of true adjacency. (IE, next to a soaring figure, a giant figure, or a colossal figure)
Page 26-27: "Soaring characters can make ranged combat attacks against both adjacent and nonadjacent opposing soaring characters, giant characters, and colossal characters to which they have a clear line of fire, even when the soaring character is adjacent to opposing characters."

Awesome! Many thanks for setting me straight! Rep!
Also the Laser Turret doesn't halve it's range when firing at a soaring figure.
Like the adjacency rules that only applies to characters.
(Introduced that one to folks at Gen Con Worlds.) Bam!!

Is there an official errata ruling that says that the turret can shoot out of adjacency if an opposing fig is next to it?
I was told that an opposing fig next to your character using the turret shuts it down so to speak.
I think that alot of confusion surrounds this.
There has been no "errata" because none is required... a strict reading of the rules is sufficient. A laser turret is not a character and is not bound by the same rules for making ranged combat that limit a character.
I'm not aware of an official ruling, but let me make a quick check...

The Laser Turret may make an attack against any opposing character within range, regardless of adjacency.(DC E&C July/06)
Yep. The only restriction the card has is range and LOF. It's not a character, so it can't be Perplexed, PC'd, Enhanced, etc... and adjacency doesn't affect it (except for LOF only).
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
