So, our next film, Classic or Crud, Hit or Miss, what say you ALL?
Our next film open for discussion, and ultimately an Overall RATING by you all:
E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL
Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.
Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.
So, what say you all?

HCR Rates The Movies Is Back!......Again! Come and share your thoughts on a TON of films, new and old! Our latest movie - IRON MAN 3
Wow, did that take A WHILE to update all of these films after iameleveneight's RtM onslaught . Though seriously, Id like to thank him again for his massive participation on these, and hope that he and the rest of us stick with these threads, going back to any and all of the films weve already rated (which thanks to the links above is EASY to do) and speak your minds about them, leaving a rating in the end. Remember, these are always OPEN, so whether its RtM #1 or this newest one, you can always go and participate in each and every one of them, any time you like.

Sorry to make you work overtime on that.
Anyways. E.T...
Original Version: 10/10
SE: 5/10 (Shut it Stevie, nobody cares about FBI agents waving guns in the air at kids in a 20 year old movie. If they were shooting at them, thats a different story.) Talk about a pointless update, but thats just me complaining, don't pay any mind to that.
Well the original, is a well crafted fairytale. Its a fun movie and you really can't help but fall in love with E.T. as hes one of the best puppets in film history before the advent of CGI.
You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll have a craving for Reese's Pieces.

Hey, as I said before, dont worry about the OT on my behalf, as first and foremost Id like to see as much participation on these RtM threads as possible (even if I do have to get up extra early one day to do the math on them all).
And as for E.T., well stick with the original version here.

You honestly cant say to many bad things, if any, about this Spielberg 80s Classic. A tale of a young boy who finds his best friend in a lost alien, and who will do whatever it takes to get him back home, knowing that doing so would lose him forever. John Williams during his best and most iconic years made for an amazing score (spot Yodas musical theme during the Halloween scene when a child dressed as Yoda walks by), Spielbergs direction is superb (he has a ift with working with kids), the special effects top notch, the story fantastical, and the acting very well done. A truly Iconic family film that can thrill and enjoy the young, the old and everyone in between. While I MAY not hold it in as high regard as SS's Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Jaws, its literally right up there for me nonetheless. I loved this film, and cant imagine anyone not really.
E.T. The Extra Terrestrial - 9.75 / 10

I saw ET the Extraterrestrial in a cinema with 2 friends and about 7 other people. It was promoted as a deep and philosophical adventure.
I grew very bored watching it and started making silly comments, at the end of movie my friends expressed their disappointment with me. I ventured the opinion that it was a kids movie.
About a week later my friends quietly agreed that it was a kids movie. If I had been told it was a kids movie I would have watched it differently.
As a movie for myself I would rate it quite low, as a movie for others I would give it 8 out of 10. I am not going to rate the re-release.

I remember seeing it as a kid and loving it. When they released the 20th anniversary edition, I found that the sense of wonderment hadn't gone away. This is a sweet movie with so much to enjoy, especially the soundtrack that really makes you feel like you are flying when you listen to it. I look forward to watching this one with my children. (In spite of the fact that there is some cussing at the beginning when the kids are having dinner with their mom.)
And if that makes me a xeno-supremacist, so be it.
PS. Hands down, this is Drew Barrymore's best role ever!

A wonderful film, anyone that is old enough to have seen this in the theatre will remember how it blew them away the first time they saw it. It is made for kids but really it is more a film for adults that are still in touch with some part of their former childish wonder and haven't yet been hardened into borish grumps, though it is good enough to take some of that borish grumpiness right out of them. I can picture the banker from "It's a wonderful life" watching this and then smiling at the end.
9.5 out of 10
Matt and Kim clix in 2012. With booty shaking powers.
I never saw this in the movie theaters but when my cousin bought it for me, I couldn't stop watching it. In fact when I think of this film, one scene always comes to mine and everyone here knows it: eliot and e.t. flying through the air and passing by the moon. Who does not love this scene? Of course the rest was just as great.
