Iceman and Slippery...?
Question regarding Iceman's 'Slippery' special power.
The power says a character is knocked back as a result of it.
But, characters with Charge do not suffer knockback.
So if someone charges Iceman, the Slipper Power doesn't do anything. Would this be an accurate interpretation?

Quote
Defense - Slippery: Iceman can use Toughness. When an opposing character moves and becomes adjacent to Iceman, roll a d6. On a result of 1-3, the character is immediately knocked back from Iceman a number of squares equal to the result, in a direction of your choosing.
Nothing to see here... move along...

It would sure seem so. Still works vs. Hypersonic, and Green Scar, actually. Anyone who gets their Charge from a Custom, like Archangel, I'm not sure. Is knockback immunity part of using Charge or part of having Charge? I.e., could you choose to "use" it when you are subjected to a knockback attack? If I recall, the PAC says: "Characters with Charge are immune to knockback," or something to that effect.

Y'know, with lucky dice, a Hypersonic'er trying to melee Iceman could slip off multiple times. That'd be funny.

It is part of Charge, period.

The only real distinction between 'using' vs 'having' is whether or not that green square actually occurs in the movement portion of the dial. Basically if a character has Charge (the green square on movement), that Charge can also meet prerequisites of feats and what not. If the character merely [b]uses[/u] Charge (whether via SP, or some weird yet to be released feat, event dial, etc), then that Charge can't be used to for feats; functionally, though, it is still Charge including the 'ignores knockback' part.
Read the rules. They do a body good!
Current Player's Guide (2-16-2013)

"How does [insert special power] work with the new 2013 rules?"

Most everything special power-wise, we're looking into. The PAC changes may change the way some special powers function; we're checking on them before the June release. In the meantime, ask your judge.

I would interpret that a figure with Charge is immune to the Slippery power.

What about a figure being carried and placed next to Iceman? I would interpret to mean that the moment you drop him off, roll for the Slippery.
You can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding.

Are the knockback squares reduced from the moving characters speed value?
Like when a character with 8 speed uses 5 to get adjacent to Iceman but gets slipped back 3 squares. Does he still have any movement left?

nope that charactor is not moving, they are moved by other means....

so no roll when they are carried or tk'ed next to Iceman...

A Moment in Clix Radio Theatre:

Part I -- Quicksilver tries to get Iceman!

"Gonna getcha!" -- ZOOM! -- *Slip!* -- "Shoot!" -- "Gonna getcha now, for sure!" -- ZOOM! -- *Slip!* -- "#%^$#!" -- "This time!" -- ZOOM! -- *Slip!* -- (stumble) -- !!!CRASH!!! -- "That's it. I'm goin' home."

Thank you. Clix Radio Theatre is brought to you by a grant from the "I had too much time on my hands and found this idea irresistibly comical" Foundation. We hope you did as well.

I'm not sure how to think on this power. It makes sense if a grounded character with no movement powers moves up to Iceman and bases him. The character stops due to adjacency and you roll Slippery to see if they slip on by him. But what about a flying character who is hovering? Why should they slip? Or a figure with phasing or L/C? What that figure decides to move beside Iceman and keep going? The character is potentially leaping by. Or teleporting in a line that happens to be beside Snowcone. Or flying fer pants' sake.

And conceptually I think a Charging brick ought to slide past. But the rules prevent that. I'm chalking this one up as another "nice try but too vague" SP.
Things fall apart; it's scientific.

Seems to me like a Charge fig would be more inclined to slip right by than would someone just rollin' up to him. Still, knocking back tie-ups into walls would rule ridiculously. Iceman = Mr. Bottleneck.

It would be awesome if it "ignored effects that ignore KB" but its still a pretty decent power that has value as well as adding variety to the game. Is it game breaking? Certainly not, but if they gave him 'Copsicles-all-over-again', I'd have been disappointed.

Was it really neccessary for GD to give us another "Cr-r@p-by" figure already?

Poor Archangel - 'I coulda bin a contnda!'

I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries....now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.

Don't get me started on Archangel....

My thing is for less than 80 pts, Icicle is like wow...Copcicles is great. Now we got Iceman for 100 pts and I'm just saying that if it would've worked for charging figs...that would've made ol' frosty a really nice fig.
See you later...
